Instead of one single building for all rooms, the rooms are grouped in small "houses," each with two completely separate units. All units are ground level. This is really a motel, with a cute horse theme. The furnishings and the bathrooms look to have been re-done recently. All very small but definitely modern and an updated motel vibe. Obviously, we only saw our unit (#3). A light breakfast is available: yogurt, oatmeal and coffee cake. The receptionist was brisk but efficient and we were on our way. Conveniently, you can park in any spot in the property.
Beware of Booking reviews! Our hopes (which we based on those reviews and the property/other people's photos) were dashed when we drove up and found we had to make a hard turn into a property that looked like a basic motel. The greeting is friendly and you can park easily. The location is 3-4 blocks from the beautiful Paso Robles square, but not very nice blocks to walk. Noting bad or sketchy at all, but not scenic. The motel is situated along a very busy road, lined with businesses that are mostly commercial, not retail. So far, nothing terrible, but definitely not worth the $234 we paid for a tiny motel room off a busy road. What sank it for us was finding a waterbug (a huge cockroach) by the bed when we got back from our dinner walk. Having lived in NYC for many years, we knew exactly what we were looking at: not a regular cockroach (bad enough), but a waterbug, with a differential of 2") The reception assistant was mildly concerned when we mentioned that at checkout, but we wouldn't go back. We paid $239 at the Hyatt in L.A. two nights before, including a full breakfast (didn't indulge but I could see that people had plates full of a cooked breakfast)

The renovation of this place is incredible, every detail was tastefully and thoughtfully done. Has a very modern and minimal design, and I was particularly happy with how new and clean everything in our room looked. The rooms were also spacious enough, very comfortable and cute. The fireplace island outside was a nice touch. The reception was warm and welcoming and very polite. We were also able to walk to downtown very easily but it is technically located on a busier/larger avenue (no noise issues though). Also the cake they serve on the morning buffet is delicious. I will happily stay here again and recommend it to people I know. Wonderful value!
Nothing! But if you’re looking for a full amenity hotel stay, this is not your place. Perfect if you’re planning on spending your day outside but want a luxury feeling and clean room for the night.

The staff was engaging and went out of their way to make sure we could get an early check-in. We had to get to an afternoon wedding. The room was very clean and super comfortable. We ended our evening by the fire pits.
