Nuestra peor experiencia en Vancouver

Lo único bueno es que está ubicada cerca de líneas de transporte público. Y el cuarto estaba limpio al inicio de nuestra estancia. No ofrecieron servicio de limpieza de cuartos ni de baño en los 3 días que estuvimos allí. Tampoco tienen servicio de recepción al llegar. Abrí la puerta principal porque nadia respondía a mis timbrazos. Primero salió una niña de unos 5 años, luego una abuela que sólo hablaba chino, creo, y finalmente un adolescente de unos 14 años que sólo nos llevó a una habitación y luego se desapareció. Nos pidieron quitarnos los zapatos al entrar, y así nos percatamos de que la alfombra estaba mojada. El wifi sí funcionaba y no cobraron por eso. La temperatura de los cuartos es muy alta, y no había manera de regularla. Había un aparato en la pared pero no servía para ajustar la temperatura del cuarto.

Cuando hice esta reservación por Booking el 11/noviembre/2024, el lugar se llamaba "Vancouver Luxury Guest House" Ahora que estoy escribiendo esta reseña, veo que los dueños han cambiado el nombre a "Vancouver Youth Guest House". Ellos mismos están reconociendo su mentira. Mi esposo y yo nos estábamos quedando en los Beautiful Guest Houses del barrio de Mount Pleasant, pero durante el fin de semana del 6-9 de diciembre no encontramos alojamiento allí por el evento de Taylor Swift. Al buscar opciones de alojamiento vi ésta, que se llamaba "Vancouver Luxury Guest House", y pensé que iba a ser comparable a nuestra experiencia en Mount Pleasant. En la foto de portada ponen una fot de la casa desde la calle, y se ve grande y bonita, pero ni creas que te vas a quedar en alguna recámara del primer piso o del segundo piso. Las recámaras para hospedaje están en el sótano, no tienen vista a ningún lado, y tienen un baño horrible que seguramente no cumple con los códigos de construcción de Canadá. Cada habitación en el sótano tiene su clóset convertido en baño, con puertas corredizas de cristal y sin ninguna cortina que dé privacidad. Imagínate que si estás compartiendo la recámara, si te sientas a orinar o defecar te van a estar viendo todod. Dentro de lo que era el clóset pusieron una taza de excusado y una lavamanos encima de un pequeño gabinete de madera, y arriba de todo eso está la regadera, así que cuando te bañas se moja todo por dentro. Y el agua no se drena rápido, así que tienes que hacer una de dos: cerrar la llave del agua y esperar a que se vaya el agua, o arriesgar que el agua se acumule tanto que se salga del clóset a la recámara. Toda la instalación de estos mini-baños está hecho con las patas. Y como ocuparon el clóset para baño, pues no tienes donde poner tu ropa. No hay ni un gancho en las paredes. Y no hay privacidad de sonido tampoco. Todos los huéspedes pueden oír lo que dicen y hacen los demás.

It’s my the most horrible experience with booking.com

Only location

I booked a room with bathroom and breakfast included. The owner tried to give me a room without bathroom. I had to have negotiation with him for an hour in order to get a room with bathroom. I spent two nights and I didn’t see any breakfast

Terrible stay

Terrible.

Pictures and written advertisements wrong. No private bathroom. No TV in room. People were up all night, very loud and inconsiderate.... in the common area, directly outside our room. One bathroom for 5 rooms. Highly NOT recommended.

Carpet Cleaning Customer???

Clean carpets were nice

Construction taking place right outside the property, so access by vehicle is hard. Parking was awkward and hard to find. I was greeted at the front door by a man who thought I was lost. He barely spoke English and was quite rude and bossy. Immediately after checking in I was asked by the staff to help them read directions on the carpet cleaning machine and if I would help clean the carpets for them. I was speechless. I responded that I was a paying customer and that customers at a hotel dont help do their jobs. I wasn't sure if understood my response but nonetheless I was respectful in my response. I was overall disappointed and will never return to this " luxury" home.

We were unhappy with our room, despite the high quality furniture and fittings.

The building was a large, high-quality house, with luxury fittings in an up-market area. However, the room was not what we had expected. No TV, no fridge, no bedside tables or lamps. Very bright ceiling lamps made you feel uncomfortable. The owner offered another room for the next night, but moving was too complicated and inconvenient.

Great place. Good value. Friendly staff/owners who were helpful and went above and beyond to make your stay smooth a

Friendly staff/owners. Easy to check-in and check-out. Place was spacious, finely decorated, functional and comfortable.

There was one full bathroom with a shower/tub, and a half bathroom available to guests. In the mornings there would be a little bit of a wait as the bathrooms were shared between multiple guests. However, just waking up a little bit earlier alleviated this issue.

Uninhabitable, false advertisement.

I submitted a complaint and refund request for this property and promised a response within 24 hours which I have yet to receive.

Again, this property is occupied by a family with uninhabitable guest “rooms” resembling a storage facility. They listing is deceiving and certain it does not meet the code requirement for guests or sanitation. We DID NOT stay at this property.

Comfortable and welcoming, warm atmosphere for the travel-weary.

Very comfortable stay, host family was very welcoming. Big thank you to Adam and Christina for everything, coffee in the mornings was fantastic. Adam has an interest in British history, was nice to talk a bit about home (don't forget to say it with your chest! haha). And thank you Christina for the bao's they were amazing, home grown vegetables really do make the difference, reminded me of my mother's vegetable garden. Great location there's a couple of parks along the way (one with a golf course), Langara underground station (Oakridge-41st Av.) just up the road, there's about 7 stops from Waterfront (end of the line) which is nothing if you come from London. Also quite close to the airport, cab ride was quite fast cost around 22CAD for me. Adam also enjoys going to the local church on Sundays, any avid Christians who would like to continue Sunday service while travelling might enjoy this bonus.

It was overall good stay. A little far from downtown and bus stop.

The room was clean and pretty looking. The staff was not able to communicate well but I understood. We came in later than our check-in time but he allowed and it took a while to do the check-in but it was manageable.

I had to go to downtown, the staff said he would take us at the fare of uber but he also mentioned to the other person renting that he would take him too. He charged us higher than uber to both of us (but paid approx. to uber fare). It was weird he didn't let two of us talk before hand... I thought they had breakfast option in the booking but when I asked he said there isn't (might have to check).

This place is a scam. Its not a luxury apartment. Do not book this place!

This is someones house and they had extensive family there. The room was in the basement and shared a bathroom with two other tiny rooms. There is nothing around it as its in a neighborhood.

Terrible do not go here

Hi there After a disappointing night, terrible sleep and not getting the room we had booked… I would recommend you stay anywhere else.. We booked a double bed with private bathroom and got the two bunk beds with shared bathroom, meaning my husband and I had to sleep separately. The beds were very uncomfortable, the door didn’t shut without it being locked with no way out (plus no actual lock on the door anyway so if the door did shut we would have no way of locking it to make us feel safe) Then we were woken at 6am to a screaming baby for 3 hours. As well as lots of other things that made our stay unenjoyable, like there being no windows, no aircon or fans, no tea or coffee, a messy house area and shared bathroom.. and more.. This is not a guest house it is a lived in house that rents out rooms. It would be better listed on air b&b as a house with rooms to rent. Was very badly advertised and I would recommend making it clear what guests should expect, and lower the price as the cost doesn’t reflect the quality. Overall our stay last night was very disappointing and highly unprofessional and very unsafe My mother also stayed in a room upstairs which had a Broken chair, used toiletries and underwear under the bed

Good location in regard to where we were going that night.

The location was good for where we were going and the people that own the house were friendly. We certainly felt safe where we were.

You could tell that the bathroom was not properly cleaned. The beds are not comfortable. The person that was there to meet us tried to get cash from me for the rooms, yet they were already paid for.

House was beautiful.

Bathroom was stinky and dirty. Bedroom has stains on the carpet and eye lashes on the desk. Didn’t know it was a multiple bedroom set up, Like a hostel.

Great guest house with a friendly and caring family. They are such beautiful people and did everything they could to make us comfortable. The room was large with two double beds. Very close to the airport and easy to find. The negative reviews are largely from people that didn't realise its a guest house so if you are aware of that it's great value! Thanks for having us!

Would only stay again for the price, or a last resort.

Rug in bedroom with a Queen bed was dirty. The other room offered had 2 bunk beds where I had the impression others may possibly arrive & stay in that room with my son, as the bunk beds were numbered. Not the queen & single I thought I had booked. There was unused furniture around, and shelves full of owner’s personal belongings, including Christmas decorations. It made me question if the area was sanitary, including the bathroom.

Do not go to this place, it will be your worst nightmare!

I don’t like everything’s here! Not to expect to stay in the basement. No air conditioner, no bed sheets and hairs everywhere on the towels, beds and floors. I don’t even know if they clean the rooms and sanitize it after the last guest leaves. Three out of four lightbulbs were out in the bathroom. People always walk above you all the time upstairs, water running every time when someone flash their toilet or turn on the water.

No daily cleaning. No lock at each room. Had to ring door bell to get in. No individual room temperature control. Just bed and table. Sheets and pillows smell. Only one towels. Owners stay at premises, can hear kids running around. Barely any sound barriers. Construction and neighborhoods sounds all day. Surprise that booking.com list this property

I would pay the extra money for a more comfortable experience somewhere else.

The family that lived there were decently accommodating and the location was good as it was close to the center and seemed safe.

One of the rooms that we inhabited did not have a lock on it and upon returning from a day out we encountered a house resident searching/prying in the room without our permission or prior coordination. Also, there is a shared bathroom for some of the rooms but it is not fully transparent that one bathroom could be shared between 4 rooms and potentially up to 10 people. And the bathroom did not appear to be cleaned during the 2-3 days that we were there. Lastly, my 3 year old found a vape maybe a weed vape in the common area that looked like a toy soft drink cup with a straw. Not sure if it was charged as I stopped him from sucking on it but not happy about that.
