We had a wonderful experience at The General Stanton Inn - it was a last minute booking and we were SO happy with our experience! The decor and attention to detail was charming the rooms were beautifully done and the bathroom remodel in our suite was magnificent! The Tavern was amazing, the food delish….the bartenders were great but Christina was on point! The history added to the charm of the Inn! Well done David & Jackie well done! We will certainly be back!!

I was warmly greeted the moment I walked in to check in and was then escorted to my room. The room was immaculate and the bed so comfortable. Not a speck of mold or mildew in the bathroom. Despite the age of the Inn, it was in such nice shape and so well maintained. This Inn is loved by the owners who clearly take pride in it.

Lovely historic inn, recently remodeled, with a restaurant and bar. Friendly staff, immaculately clean room. Nice bedding and a firm mattress - yay! Close to South County beaches and Ninigret Park. Highly recommend!

Room was updated nicely and clean with exception to a couple of drawers. Hot water took awhile to come on was only drawback. Check in was a breeze!

We loved the uniqueness of the property and the bedrooms were perfect for our stay. We would have liked a coffee machine in the room or access to one for early morning risers. That being said, Amber came in extra early to provide us breakfast and that was much appreciated. We will definitely be back with more members of our family. Also Music Trivia was a fantastic surprise!

Such an interesting place to stay. Make sure to talk to the front desk about the history of the land and building. It was a fun history lesson for our children. We did not have an opportunity to stay in a historic room (as we booked last minute), but the newly updated rooms were fresh, clean, and nice.

Lovely stay in historic hotel, with renovated, clean and comfortable rooms. Enjoyed continental breakfast. Fun to learn about the history of each of the dining rooms.
Convenient US-1 location with access to beaches, parks, hiking trails, Watch Hill shopping and fishing docks.

Love the history of the building and the way it has been maintained even with the addition of modern conveniences in the guest rooms! A history buff's dream location!!

Nice, clean, fully renovated room. Easy keyless check in. Were able to call and they sent a txt with all relevant room information and key code for room. Never saw a person.

Interesting history.

Very strange hotel. We were rushed away to our room before entering the building. Told nothing about the breakfast (I had to call and even then was told it was "grab and go" so not at all as advertised. Other strangeness was no iron/ironing board and no garbage can in the room, only a small one in the bathroom. Just lacked some basic amenities that all rooms should now have. Small and dark room.

The property was quaint. People friendly and convenient for all my activities. I went to The
Nordic and the seafood festival. But were amazing.

Nice renovated inn with a lot of history and a tavern with great food and cocktails

Room was great. The continental breakfast was weak. Muffins, coffee and OJ.

We celebrated Our 26th anniversary here. We had a cozy room in the old section of the Inn. They have three areas for dining. A larger, pretty dining room, A tiny room in the original building with a large fireplace, historical photos, and small amount of seating. They also have two large chairs by a fire for relaxing with a Cocktail, or coffee and breakfast. We chose this room for dinner. They also have a large bright bar with lots of seating around the bar and a tavern area. After we had dinner, we went to sit at the bar to enjoy some trivia. They had already reserved two seats at the bar for us with champagne ready for toast! All staff was very nice to us. We even won a bottle of wine in the Trivia contest! We loved the General Stanton Inn and will return!

Amber and Kevin were both so kind, helpful, and accommodating. Our room was lovely for the hot summer time, A/C worked well and we were very comfortable. Loved the tavern being on site, had great food and drinks. Plus was the spooky stories we were able to share and we absolutely loved having a coffee and learning the history of the place in the shared space. On our last day there was an awesome artisans and vintage market we were able to enjoy!

This was our first time very amazing. Rustic look with a at home feel to it. A restaurant and tavern on premises and good continental breakfast ready by 8am. The staff were helpful and kind. Beach was only 15 mins down the road and a mini mart there houses away very convenient. Definitely planning another stay.

Really nice Inn, and wonderful service from front desk and restaurant crew. The room was clean and spacious and comfy . We were in one of the new rooms, and they have been beautifully appointed. The front office manager brought me on a tour of this super unique and historic property , it was great! Had yummy appetizers and drinks at the bar upon arrival, and a welcome continental breakfast before we left.

I booked this hotel to split up the drive back from Maine to New Jersey. After hours on the road and lots of traffic we made it to the inn just in time for our dinner reservations. It was nice to wind down in the tavern with some wine and delicious food, and then just head right upstairs to a comfy bed and clean room. I would stay here again if in the area, just wish we had more time to explore Charlestown and the beaches.

We enjoyed our stay in the Stanton….lots of character in this 1740’s inn…great bar and areas to relax with a drink or snack. Definitely plan to stay again

The staff was awesome. Linda gave us a tour of the facility and taught us about the history of the inn. We enjoyed the bar area at night and the room was all redone and so nice. Would highly recommend.

Nothing really wrong. Just overpriced for what it was

Rooms are amazing! They smell good and the bed is comfortable. Unfortunately the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors. Toilet paper was cheap and they have no TVs in the room.

I thought the customer service was excellent and very accommodating. I was pleased with my room and thought the welcome notes and water were such nice touches. It was a very quaint and comfortable stay. I would return!

Stayed only one night which was clean and pleasant. Tasty muffins in the morning.

This was a lovely inn to which I would return. The main building is very old, but our room was one of the newer rooms in an adjacent addition. It was very nice, but not part of the main inn. There was no TV in the room, which was just fine with us. The friendly owner gave us the history of the inn over breakfast. The location is a short drive to the beaches and convenient for moving around the area.

The General Stanton Inn is beautifully restored and a historic gem. We loved our room, newly renovated. The restaurant is fantastic as well, and would be worth the visit for that alone.

Room was beautifully designed and exceptionally clean. I didn't care that there was no tv or phone, but a fridge, a microwave and a decent size garbage pail would be pluses. Also, it would be nice to have a table in the room to be able to sit at with the one chair. Also, a chair outside on the porch area and maybe picnic tables or chairs on the back lawn for the future. Shampoo, soap, conditioner and towels and linens provided were superb. Sheets were soft and comfy, towels were thick and amazingly absorbent. Continental breakfast needs improvement. Bagels werent really bagels and muffins fell apart. No margarine with muffins one day. Coffee was good but no tea. No cream one day was coffee creamers. A simpler, nicer breakfast of good quality or no breakfast is preferable. All in all room was great, quiet, location is excellent- close to ice cream, pizza, mini mart, dunkin donuts, pharmacy and beaches. Would have eaten at the restaurant but no vegetarian or vegan food available so had to give it a pass.

We were there for a quick over nights.
