A group of girlfriends got together to celebrate 2 birthdays! We were so impressed with how beautiful the Villa we stayed in was!! Plenty of space and room for the 4 of us. The master was huge!! The bedroom, bathroom, walk in closet. We cozied up in the living room with the fireplace every night. Had coffee on our own private patio w a Firepit and table to eat at or play games. The Mountain View was spectacular! Loved having the small kitchen area which was fully furnished. Judy, the manager or owner as I never asked went above and beyond even prior to our arrival. She sent pictures of where to park and exactly what the kitchen was stocked with. Toaster, coffee machine, glasses etc. She gave us a first hand guided tour of the Lodge and our 3 bedroom Villa. Staff was amazingly friendly. Highly recommended this great getaway!

Great place to stay and excellent breakfast on the weekend. Stayed for our 24th anniversary and we were very pleased.

Nice, quiet and romantic location. Minimal staff service, and access to entire property made our stay feel very intimate.

The Villa was a home away from home. Cozy and equipped with everything you may need. Excited to return again!

The property wasnt ready, no staff onsite, zero help next day. Was told management was in shambles, and staff had walked off. Well they took my credit card to refund my night (thats what they said) and instead charged an additional night which I am having to dispute as well.
Zero toilet paper, shampoo, conditioner, towels, coffee, hand soap, notta and they didnt respond to any request left for them?
Buyer Beware, sounds like series financial isdues at the Lodge

The manager was very helpful with checking in as I was late getting to the hotel. Room was tastefully designed and decorated. Property very scenic. I’d recommend this property without any reservations.

Nice place. I stayed in the Villa with a friend. It was great for the two nights we stayed. The continental breakfast (which is served during the week), was fresh, with healthy choices and sufficient amount for breakfast. But I’m not a big morning person.

I book a stay here as part of a mini-honeymoon. One of the reasons I booked it there is because their website says they have a spa. They don't. At least, not anymore. There are new owners, and instead of shutting the hotel down and fixing all the many, many things that are broken, they are still collecting over $300 a night. The lobby heating system was broken. They were pounding on the outside wall so loudly we couldn't hear each other speak. There was no wood for burning in the fireplace. The elevator was broken, and we were on the third floor. We upgraded so that we could stream tv and have our own jacuzzi, but there was no internet. The water heater was a temporary because the old one broke and you couldn't take a shower longer than 5 minutes before it got cold. I am not making this up! They didn't ice the driveway, and it was a complete hazard (though it said they would). To top it all off, I fell off a step down from the bedroom into the living room and sprained my ankle, the same ankle I had to walk on down the icy slope. This lodge should not be open until the fix things. Don't go there!

What an amazing stay! We will be back. We stayed in the romance suite for our 35th wedding anniversary. It was well appointed. The bed felt like a cloud. Spacious. All the amenities we needed. It was cold outside but we were toasty. Outside the room they had meeting areas, a loft/library. There was a piano in the downstairs living room. Upgraded bathroom with two types of showerheads. Outstanding place to stay in Idlewild. If you needed anything, all you needed to do is text the proprietors.

This is the most expensive, and nicest, hotel in Idyllwild. With a price to match. At this price, seems like everything should be perfect. There was room for improvement.
The guy answering the phone was a bit gruff. The lady was nice.
The elevator hasn't been working for months, even though it's advertised and emailed.
There are very steep fees for early check-in and late checkout, even during low occupancy.
Even though they send out email, such as notifying you that you've missed their check-in window of 3 to 5 PM, they don't respond to email.
The way they hand out keys if you arrive after 5 PM doesn't seem safe to me.
There is a lack of privacy on the first and second floors with people being able to walk past your window.
The breakfast is very basic, with stale pastries and bagels.
There were used coffee pods left in the room. Eww.

Don't make the same mistake I did. I saw the negative reviews, but it looked beautiful, so we booked the villa. We were visiting our daughter at school, and we invited her grandparents over for dinner. The villa included a table set for six. The grandparents had flown in from Chicago to visit as well and were staying at a different hotel.
Shortly thereafter a man came to our door and said the grandparents had to leave. I thought he was joking at first.
He said no more than four occupants in the three-bedroom suite at any time. I told him they were not occupants. They were our visitors. He said, "Either they leave or you forfeit the room." So I had to drive my elderly parents back to their hotel and they could not visit with their granddaughter.
Not only did this ruin our visit, but they also treated an 80-year-old couple with complete disrespect. The workers were heartless about it and continued to lecture us about this policy that was nowhere to be found in any hotel documentation. We looked on the website and confirmation email for any mention of a policy of "no more than four people, including visitors, in a room at any time." There is nothing stating this or even close to it.
As if that wasn't bad enough, they made it very clear that their "strict rules" applied even to their subpar towels. These towels were far from luxurious, and we were warned that we'd be charged for the slightest stain or mark on them. It's absurd that they charge premium prices for such substanda

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely property. We didn't see the other Suites there, but ours (Suite Retreat) was such a warm, comfortable and luxurious place for our two nights there. All the furnishings in the room were craftsman style giving the room the feeling of 1930's elegance. The bed and linens were perfect. I loved the waterfall shower. Breakfast was very good both days and the staff were lovely. We'd go back for sure.

Even driving up to the property left me and my partner in total awe. The lobby had this beautiful decor that nearly resembled the significance of Idyllwild/the outdoors. The room was clean and we actually loved that it led straight to the outdoors. Truthfully, we expected a nice hotel… but we were blown out of the water with this one. I would stay here again, without a doubt!
