My husband and I spent 5 nights at Loweswater cottage. It is a lovely spacious apartment near Esthwaite and just down the road from Hill Top - both are within walking distance. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was quiet and peaceful with beautiful views across fields down to the lake. The roads to reach the property are a small and winding, like many roads in the area, but it was easy to find. We received clear instructions about check in and details of the property. Highly recommended.

A cosy retreat, but the whole ambience was spoilt on entry by one of the first things we saw, holes in the carpets! There were holes in the lounge and bedroom carpets where furniture had been moved. The carpet did not meet the gripper strip in the lounge leading into the bedroom. The large lounge floor mat was filthy and needed a good clean to remove the stains criss crossing it. Overall the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were clean. The kitchen had a good range of cooking implements for self catering, including sharp knives. We were surprised to find there were no USB plugs anywhere in the property to charge phones, iPads etc. In addition the Wi-Fi had a very weak signal and the TV was poor, probably due to location. We had a named parking space which was good.

Third year staying here. Excellent location. The accommodation provides everything you need for your stay. A good pub just down the road called tower bank arms provides excellent food and local beers. Good walking routes to the ferry which takes you to bowness. Will be back again next year

We’ve stayed here many years due to it’s beautiful location and able to take our dogs, generally the cottage interior needs some updating ie carpets, cushions etc, our toaster was broken and the shower cubicle is aged . However it’s an easygoing atmosphere and the staff are helpful. Ps the fridge is small and a struggle as it’s very low down.

We love coming back to esthwaite farm cottage, and have done so for many years, there’s a few small things I can suggest: a decent can opener, a non stick frying pan , a dog poo bin , a mop and bucket, maybe different pillows , ours were very hard , I had to buy 2 soft ones for our two week stay . The plus points are , great space for dogs, friendly staff, plenty of heat and hot water, carpets, free laundry and a fabulous location

A more modest Graythwaite property than some but in a nice rural position. We stayed during school term time and found it peaceful and relaxing with views outside across fields to Estwaite Water. Fridge is very small and under counter which made our small shopping delivery difficult to fit in. The property would benefit from a refurbishment which we understand has taken place in some of the other properties in this setting. That said we found this property a comfortable and enjoyable place to stay
