This was our first family trip to the beach and this home was perfect for us. Beds were comfortable and plenty of space to escape to if needed. The kitchen could use some dishes and utensil updating - too few for the number of people but other than that we would definitely rent again. The rental company was easy to work with and quick to answer any questions. Loved our stay!!

Third stay at this lovely home. Enjoyed some recent upgrades in furnishings, etc. and is always a wonderful property. Owner is extremely hospitable. Look forward to a 2024 visit.

Having 5 bedrooms, with 3 master suites, was appreciated. It would have been nice to have a king bed on the first floor but I understand that there wasn't enough room. The 3 floors kept us separated enough in the mornings that as we gradually meandered downstairs, no one bothered others who were still sleeping. The kitchen wasn't as well stocked as we have had in other rentals but we were able to rewash dishes/pots as needed. The grandchildren enjoyed the heated pool.

The Avonlea Cottage was everything we expected and a little more. We would definitely book this cottage again. The pool and boardwalk to the ocean are two real pluses.

Avonlea is a great house! All 5 bedrooms had their own bath, making it perfect for our family group. The home is nicely furnished and super comfortable. I highly recommend!

Great week. Beach access boardwalk isn’t long enough to get over the marshy/swampy area. However, it is currently under construction to be lengthened. Either you walk thru ankle deep water and mud to get to the beach of you find another point of access.

A wonderful location for a family getaway!! It had all the comforts from home. The family enjoyed the beach, pool, fishing, bike riding, shopping and restaurants 😀 We just needed more time!!

Overall, the house was beautiful and very comfortable. There were a few minor issues, such as the doors would not stay closed, the grill had no gas in the tank, and the rooftop had no lights for use during sunset/evening. The listing was mostly accurate except for lack of Keurig and also no mention that the pools closed at dusk, which prevented both adults and teens from being able to use the pool after all of the smaller children had gone home. There was also no mention that the property absolutely hated teenagers onsite. We felt somewhat harassed during our stay with people policing our teens when they had not even done anything wrong at all. They followed our teens the very first night as they checked out the property and headed out to the ocean for their first view. They came to the cottage on two occasions to warn us about what might happen if our teens didn't follow the strict guidelines. The property manager sent emails questioning who was staying at the house, claiming they had been "counted" and exceeded the max limit, and acted as if they were breaking the law. I felt like we walked on eggshells the entire week and could not relax at all. We also heard from several other teen families onsite that they received similar messages and felt harassed as well. After having such a lovely home surrounded by loved ones, what a shame we never really could relax at our beautiful cottage. Not all teenagers run wild. If you don't want teenagers, just say so from the very beginning. Don't ruin vacations. Very disappointing.

Short walk to the beach. Every bedroom has its own bathroom. Pretty beach colors and decor.

We’re all pretty fussy and were very happy with the cleanliness, size and location of the home! Our only problem was the ice maker not coming on til the third day-very minor! Great vacation for us all!

This is a lovely house. Very comfortable, well furnished and attractive. It is a little walk to the beach, but there is a nice canvas wagon to help get your belongings down to the beach. There is a nice screened in porch on the back, one off one of the 2nd floor bedrooms, and a wonderful roof-top if you just feel like hanging out at the house. The pool is a nice area and well maintained. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The beach cottage has been well-maintained on both the inside and outside. The pool area was clean, and we loved having close access to the beach. My family and I had a wonderful time and would recommend this cottage to others.

Location Location Location!!
There is seriously no better place to stay than the beautiful Avonlea for Spring Break! The house was spacious with absolutely every comfort in mind. We were a family group of 12 (6 adults, 6 children) and had plenty of room for privacy as well as gathering spaces. The short walk to the private pools and beautiful beach beyond was so charming with the brick road and other lovely homes standing by for our admiration. My 14 year old grandson said many times throughout our stay, "Thank you so much for bringing us here. It is so beautiful. I love it!" That really says it all!
The King and Prince golf course got a huge thumbs up from our golfers. They are still talking about it and planning their next tee time in that place! There are many very good restaurants to try; Bennie's has a fabulous Sunday brunch, well worth the wait in the long line! Lots of shopping opportunities are available if you want to get off of the beach for awhile. The island truly does meet every need.
The description of the house was accurate, the property immaculate. Patrick was quick to respond to our questions and very kind in every way. Avonlea quickly became one of our most favorite spring destinations. We hated to leave. I know that we will return .

Excellent. Loved not having to travel with beach chairs and finding a wagon to transport things to the beach. Cottage was in excellent condition and clean.
We are thinking about coming next year.

Avonlea Cottage accommodated our family 's stay in lovely fashion. The home is professionally decorated and beautifully appointed. Each bedroom having its own bath was a big plus for us since we were dressing simultaneously for wedding events. The roof top deck is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee. It's a short walk to the pool area and St Simon's Beach was so enjoyable for the entire family.

With 5 large bedrooms, each with full baths, this house was very comfortable for all 12 of our group (grandchildren had 2 bunk beds; all others had private large beds). The AC was wonderful, even on the top floor. The kitchen and all the accommodations suited us completely. The location near the beach, with available pool and St Simon's East beach access made it a desirable house and a bargain compared to the hotel down the street. Property manager was very responsive to our questions. We will use this facility at our next opportunity.

I wanted to take my adult children and grandchildren on a week long beach vacation. I was having difficulty finding the “perfect” accommodations as fully functional 5 bedroom rentals were hard to find. I had worked with Patrick Anderson on a previous vacation and contacted him again as he has the “pulse” of the island!
We had a diverse group and all found their niche places.
The under nine group was pleased to have a real room with four bunk beds AND an entertainment center of their own. I am not a fan of parking children in front of a a TV but it sure was nice after a day at the beach to have them pile into their own space and leave the living room for the adults.
Our teenage grandson usually has to find a sofa and he was delighted with his own room.
The bedroom on the ground floor has easy access to the kitchen, dining area and living room and porch (one of many). This space would be perfect for grand parents but in our case was perfect for a disabled son-in-law who would have trouble with stairs.
All of the rooms were large, all had their own TV, all had a porch and all had generous baths. All the rooms and shared spaces were delightfully decorated in “sherbet” colors and with very nice and whimsical coast paintings and folk art.
So the basics of sleep and fellowship are covered very nicely for 3 families and their children. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. This property is freshly appointed and WELL maintained!
I place a lot of value on the ambience of my lodgings. I was delighted with the new furnishings, paintings, knickknacks and such. Everything is light and VERY beachy and tasteful. I hate going to a beach context and finding that the decor is something that does not add to the experience.
Yes, the house is almost at the end of the street. We are still only talking a 1 minute walk to the pool complex, pavilion and beach boardwalk. This WAS NOT a problem - in fact it was quieter than being near the pool and all the foot traffic coming and going.
The owners provided a wagon and plenty of beach chairs and beach towels. There are two pools and a nice shady pavilion that catches the strong sea breezes. The boardwalk leads to the best of the East Beach. You can even walk to several of the seafood restaurants.
I must mention Patrick Anderson who is the agent. He will be your partner to iron out any loose ends! I like that grounds services are restricted to the check-in and check-out time.

We decided on short notice to invite some friends to join us in St. Simons to get a break from the winter weather. What a great idea! St. Simons didn't disapoint with sunny days and temps in the upper fifties and low sixties one day.
We have been to St. Simons on several occasions and had stayed at Avonlea before as well. We were surprised to see that Avonlea had been redecorated with new living room furniture, a new large screen TV, all new stainless steel appliances, etc. She is just as charming as ever. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed their accommodations.
We saw some new sights, met nice people on the beach, enjoyed the Village and the shops, and found a new restaurant and bar.
In summary:
Our friends: Fun
Dinning: Delicious
Weather: Wonderful
Avonlea: Awesome
St. Simons: Spectacular
