About this chalet rental
@HudsonRiverAFrame Welcome to the Hudson River A-Frame - my dream A-frame Cabin on the water! I purchased this beautiful cabin back in 2017 and spent the next 4 years renovating it from top to bottom. I sandblasted the entire exterior, installed the inground pool and docks, and replaced every last mechanical system to ensure a wonderful home for decades to come. This is my personal home and I sleep at the A-frame whenever I'm in upstate NY flying for the Air National Guard, and I make it available on the weekends and whenever I'm deployed (which is often). I wanted to share this beautiful property with the world after investing so much of my energy into making it the beautiful home that it is.
Inside, you'll find a master bedroom loft on the second floor with its own ensuite bathroom. There's also a jetted tub overlooking the pool below and the Hudson River (with a sunset view).
Above the master bedroom, you'll find a third-floor loft with a queen bed featuring views of the Hudson.
On the first floor, you'll find the great room with Hammock, woodburning stove, and massive W-shaped Lovesac couch and 70" TV (with Apple TV connected). All the bifold doors open allowing for 20 feet of open-air views connecting the inside to the outside.
Feel free to cook and bake in the top-of-the-line kitchen with a 48" Wolf Stove with indoor grill and griddle. I also have a breadmaker, espresso machine, Kitchenaid Mixer, Ninja Coffee Station, dishwasher, and all the necessary plates, cups, and utensils to cook/bake/create anything you want. The fridge is stocked with butter and cooking staples that you're free to use. There's also cooking oil and seasonings and pretty much anything you'd find in your own home kitchen. You're welcome to use what you want. Just don't throw anything out since I do use all that stuff too when I'm there on the weekdays.
Behind the kitchen, you'll find a bedroom with queen bed and a full bathroom across the hallway.
In the basement, you'll find two queen beds and an air hockey table and a skeeball machine. I also have my workbenches down there for all the woodworking projects I do around the cabin. Every table in the house was made and finished right there at the cabin using reclaimed wood from old factories around the Troy area.
Outside, you'll find a heated pool, propane grill, smoker (with pellets included), a Solo smokeless firepit (the Yukon model - the biggest one they make) and multiple Adirondack chairs and lounge chairs to relax and enjoy the stunning sunsets on the Hudson.
You'll also find stairs leading down to the docks where you can enjoy sitting on the water's edge and taking in all the beautiful nature. Beavers often swim by around sunset time, and you'll often catch eagles, herons, geese, ducks, and some of my neighbor's cats. I fed them once a couple years ago, and now they come over whenever anyone visits to get some treats. They're super friendly, and my neighbor Kelly encourages me to let them in the house and feed them, so I don't mind if you do as well. I have a litter robot and cat food and a water fountain in the house in case you decide to let them in and allow them to spend the night. If you don't want to let them in, then you're going to have to go in and out of the house like a ninja to keep the black one from darting inside. She's quick! (Her name is Gypsy). The orange one is Norma Jean. And the grey one is her mom - Fenway.
I usually keep my Seadoo Speedster and Spark on the dock, but they are not available for guests due to how low the river can be and the risk of sucking up rocks. I do have a Kayak and paddle available and guests are more than welcome to go kayaking at their own risk. The current in the Hudson is pretty strong, so bring a cell phone in case you find yourself needing a ride from somewhere down river!
I try to keep the firewood pile stocked at all times (some indoors by the woodburning stove, and some outside in the brown woodshed at the end of the driveway). You're welcome to use it for fires indoors and in the firepit outside. If you need more, there's a Hannaford Supermarket 3 minutes away (by car) and a Walmart 12 minutes away. There's also a boat launch down the block (1 minute away) in case you bring your own boat/jetski. You're welcome to park them on my dock, but be advised that the water may be very shallow by the docks edge.
Keep in mind that this is a fully-functioning cabin where I live on the weekdays and although I do my best to keep it spotless, you may find some wood dust downstairs around my workbenches. I also don't have a safety fence around the inground pool, so you're going to have to keep an eye on the kids. Also, I don't allow dogs in the pool since their nails may damage the pool liner. And finally, no loud parties are allowed. I had some kids throw a raging pool party once and despite me calling them to turn down the music, they didn't listen and so we called the authorities. I will NOT tolerate loud parties that irritate my neighbors. We're a tight community and we all look out for each other.
If you're allergic to cats, this is probably not a good property for you to rent. Even though the three outdoor cats belong to my neighbor, I still let them come and go as they please when I'm home. I have a Roomba and do my best to ensure no cat hair is anywhere in the home. But I can't guarantee that someone allergic to cats won't have a sneezing fit at the cabin.
Also, I have a washer and dryer in the basement that you're more than welcome to use!
I don't have a cleaning fee, but I do request the following basic checkout items:
Take the trash out to the trash cans at the end of the driveway.
Put all dirty dishes in the dishwasher and start it (dishwashing liquid is under the sink).
Wipe down counters and stovetop.
Put all towels, bed sheets, pillowcases, and comforters downstairs by the washing machine.
I'm pretty flexible with check-in and checkout times. The standard is check-in at 3pm and checkout at 11am. Just message me if you want something different.
That's it! You have awesome food options 10 minutes away in downtown Troy (including our famous Farmer's Market every Saturday morning). Albany is 20 minutes away. Saratoga Springs is 35 minutes away. Jiminy Peak Ski Resort is about 55 minutes away. Lake George is an hour away. So is Great Sacandaga Lake. Come enjoy some downtime with friends and family, or a romantic getaway with your favorite person. My home is your home.

My family and I stayed at Dia’s log cabin in the Hudson from Friday August 2 to Monday August 5. We were in the area to attend my son’s engagement party in Saratoga so we didn’t get to spend as much time as we wish but nevertheless we had an awesome time. Cabin is well equipped with literally everything you can think off. The beds are very comfy. The pool is heated and well kept. The dining and living room area are nicely furnished. We love the piano And drum set. My son and grandson went fishing in the kayak and caught a cat fish. Dia was very nice and accommodating. We where able to communicate with him within minutes. We’re all looking forward to coming back to Dia’s place. I highly recommend this cabin!!!

I stayed here with my husband and a group of friends for my birthday. The pictures don't do it justice, this is the coolest place ever. So many games and instruments and things to do when you're not in the fabulous pool. The pool is heated (and heats insanely fast) and has a deep end. The house overlooks the river, where there's multiple seating areas on and near the dock. The kitchen is extremely high end and was fully stocked, we made use of it for breakfast and had pizza recommended by the host. The beds are extremely comfortable and we had no issue sleeping 8 people. There are kitties on the property and they are SO CUTE, they came by to say hi and get a round of pets and wandered in and out of the house. We all loved it here, and having stayed at many homestays, this is easily in the top.

We had a great time at this property over our son's graduation weekend. Beautiful spot with lots to do. Dia was great to work with, even allowing us to check in early and check out late!
