About this house rental
Follow the gravel path to this four-bedroom cottage, complete with a screened-in, wrap-around porch and private access to the beach. Days spent here involve porch swings, washing sand from your toes, and sharing the sunset with loved ones. Walk up to the porch and step back in time as you enter into your very own charming Tybee cottage. You'll notice the jade green trim throughout the house, along with a well-loved collection of beach decor and family heirlooms. For those looking for a place to truly relax and reconnect with loved ones, 1923 By The Sea is for you.
The kitchen has kept some of its most charming features from the original design, but incorporates modern amenities to make your vacation a breeze. Past the kitchen rests the formal dining area with seating for six. Adjacent, the living room with plenty of places to sit and carry conversation with your group. A flat screen TV and shelves full of books are both perfect remedies for a rainy afternoon.
All four bedrooms occupy the rest of the home, with full bath with tub/shower combo on the first level. However, each bedroom comes with an original wash sink, which makes getting ready much more convenient. The first bedroom hosts a Queen size bed, outfitted with two large dressers and relaxing views of the front porch. Window shades allow for privacy from the outside. The second bedroom is across the hall and holds a pair of Double size beds, while the remaining two bedrooms are each furnished with a pair of twin beds. Tall ceilings and a ceiling fan can be expected in each bedroom, along with ample room to unpack your suitcase and feel right at home. On the ground level, two shower rooms, in addition to another bathroom - plenty of space for everyone in the group! A washer and dryer can also be found on the ground level. Access to the wrap-around porch can be found off the dining room and the front entry. Spend each evening with a glass of wine as the screens protect you from the elements. A private path (open to neighboring homes but not the public) to the beach begins towards the back of the home.

The cottage was full of historic charm. We loved the wrap around porch! The staff was quick to respond to our needs. We were disappointed with how many of the appliances were in disrepair or not working at all. The path to the beach was also overgrown making it impossible to pull a wagon or push a stroller. The space was described accurately online as far as what the rooms looked like and what amenities were available.

The charm of the historic home totally made our trip! It is a short walk to the beach, and I hope to return for a future visit! The limited toilets were the only downside, but my party of 9 gals still made it work. Loved our stay.

We loved the feel and charm of 1923 by the sea. Even when there was a little more rain than we would have preferred, the wrap-around porch was perfect for puzzles and games! We loved following the path, through the dunes to the beach. It was tucked away and private. We went into Savannah a couple of times, and the commute was easy. This house was a gem of a find!

Staying at 1923 By The Sea was like stepping back in time. Located right on the beach, it was a perfect place for our extended family to reunite for days beginning with sunrise walks on the beach, nights enjoying stunning sunsets (from the other side of the island), and unforgettable “porch sitting” where we played cards or just sat around and talked. Although it was hard to find the drive to enter the property, that also added to the appeal as the property is surrounded by mature trees giving it a private and secluded feel in what I’m sure is a busy tourist town.

1923 by the Sea is old, well loved, unpretentious, and comfortable... just like Tybee. It’s not modern, but it had all we needed. It’s crooked, but clean and cozy... the porch is great!Best of all is proximity to the beach... you just walk out the back door and over the private crosswalk to the water. We’ll stay again!

The porch is everything at this beautiful historic house. Even in gale force winds and pouring rain this porch was an incredibly peaceful refuge for our vacation. Note that if you rent a golf cart, you will have to park and walk from public parking because golf carts aren’t allowed on this part of Butler. House had everything we needed on this rainy cold Memorial Day. Even when internet went out, we played “haunted” hide and seek in this creaky house. Lots of beds - the one bathroom would really get a lots of competition if as many people as all the beds hold stayed here. Note that there is strong sulfur “Florida water” smell with the hot tap water. Just added to the fun-haunty-old-house vibe. Tons of fun!

My family has stayed here many times but we probably won't again until we can be sure everything will work properly (hot water had funky smell at first, dishwasher never worked during our 5 days), certain upgrades have happened (sister got locked in her bedroom because the ancient doorknob was broken), and we'll arrive to a cottage whose floors have been scrubbed clean, and the porch and porch furniture have been wiped down. It's a shame because this place is incredibly charming and beautifully and conveniently situated.

We enjoyed our stay at 1923 By The Sea. We loved the charm that an old home provides. It was quintessential Tybee. The oak tree lot is gorgeous - and rare on Tybee. We enjoyed family time inside and out on the porch. We walked 13th Street for beach access which was a short walk.

Sometimes when you call something “vintage” or “antique” toooo long, it really means “old” or “broken” or “needs to really be fixed”. Home is BEAUTIFUL but doors don’t shut. Knobs fall off. Floors about to break in some places. You can see thru the floor in some places. No closets at all. Smelly nasty sink in each room. Washer and dryer junk.

We came to Tybee Island to spend time with my US Army Soldier who is stationed at Ft Stewart. We just picked up my other son who just graduated US Army basic combat training and brought him over to see his brother before he gets deployed. It was a wonderful weekend! We had a few other soldiers from my son's unit come to spend time with us as well. I loved getting to know the guys who will be protecting my boy in the field!

My family, friends, and I thoroughly enjoyed our Tybee vacation. This lovely, historic cottage, tucked behind the dunes and natural landscaping, is a unique place. Most of our time was spent on the large screened porch and on the gorgeous beach.

This is a wonderful old house full of vintage Character. Up to date appliances in kitchen. Washer and dryer quite old but still working. Loads of character in this house. Kitchen is very well stocked. Plenty of dishes, silverware, pots, pans and many other items. Everything was clean. Extra linens, towels and even several beach towels. Several beach chairs, sand toys, beach umbrellas & wave boards. Beds are bouncy but comfortable. The screened back porch area is absolutely amazing. We spent a lot of time there and the beach. Beach access is wonderful . The walkway through dunes was beautiful but tough for this ol lady. Beach was not crowded. The outside shower and the 2 in basement area are very convenient and clean. There is another nice and convenient bathroom down there not listed. Location to downtown is very good. But sets back off road so no traffic noises. Plenty of parking for vehicles. All in all this is a great vintage home. We had a wonderful stay.
