About this house rental
The beauty of old homes is that they have been cared for through generations and boast old oak wood interiors, ambience and joy, and magical nooks (under the stairwell there is a play + sleeping area for kids, an oval window in a bedroom, stained glass windows in many rooms). Add to this that it is 2 blocks to Lake Pepin, 4 city parcels of land, with plenty of room to park a boat, let kids play, gardens with fresh organically grown flowers and vegetables, AND modern conveniences in every room!
Ideal for families, groups wanting a get away for fishing, golf or skiing, and small events (maximum of 20 people).
🎁 Imagine having a long birthday weekend in a beautiful Victorian,
🎉 Celebrating holidays, family reunions, baby showers, bridal parties, and many other gatherings.
👥 Getting together with friends and family and having plenty of room to cook, play games, 🎣 go fishing or ⛵ sailing or 🏌️♀️ golfing, and 🏖️ spending time together 🤾♀️ relaxing and enjoying time together in a beautiful surrounding.

HISTORY of our HOUSE
This completely renovated Victorian with persian rugs and stained-glass windows was built in 1908 for the daughter of a man who invented better parts for a steamboat engine when the Mississippi was a hub of transport to bring Red Wing pottery to the entire country. Then it was cared for by an Air Force pilot who then went on to get a PhD at University of Minnesota in Agriculture. His thesis topic was "effective business models for small farms"! There is still an old barn|house on the acre property that served as a little red school house, then the fire house for the town, and now is in the process of also being restored.
WHY ARE THERE COTTAGE GARDENS? (part of your yard is a garden?)
Given the history of early American and the Victorian era, we have worked to regenerate some of the land to have cottage gardens full of heirloom and heritage vegetables and flowers that are open pollinated. This was known as "cottage" gardening during the 1920-30s when people (including my grandmother) would grow vegetables and flowers in the yard.
the FUTURE
In the next few years we are putting together an interactive tour that you can take during your stay so that learning about Victory Gardens, Heirlooms and Americans history with agriculture is fun and part of your stay! We look forward to this once the house is up and running and providing this type of living, historical legacy of American cottage gardens and heirloom seeds.

Had a fantastic family vacation creating memories. The house is a beautiful Victorian. There were yard games, board games and a basketball court. The kids enjoyed making s'mores in the fire pit. The outside porches in the front and back of the house were great spots for reading and listening to the birds. There was also a playground two houses away where the kids rode their scooters and played. The lake was only a few blocks away and the town had many good restaurants-Family Restaurant, Kelly's Lake House, and Fiesta Jalisco to name a few. Lake City also provides a free bike rental and the Lincoln High School has beautiful tennis courts nearby. I could go on about the amenities of Lake City, MN but you will have to go there to find out for yourself.

We loved the house and especially liked the cooling(split units) in each of the bedrooms. Property owner was very good with communication.
Might be nice to have an outside picnic table to be able to eat outside. Kitchen was nice and mostly stocked(could maybe use measuring cups/spoons.

Our stay at this beautiful garden-inspired Victorian home in Lake City was nothing short of magical. Nestled in an idyllic location with easy access to parks and a stunning lake, this home is a true gem.
From the moment we arrived, we were in awe of the intricate craftsmanship throughout the house. Every room tells a story, blending historical charm with modern comfort. The host’s prompt responses to any inquiries ensured a smooth and enjoyable stay.
The host goes above and beyond to provide an array of activities that cater to all interests. Our family enjoyed reading from the extensive book collection, playing various games, and exploring the era heirloom gardens. Evenings spent around the bonfire with a BBQ were wonderful.
We were touched by the thoughtful home touches and the welcome basket upon our arrival, making us feel right at home. This house is perfect for families seeking both adventure and relaxation. There’s something for everyone, from young children to adults, ensuring a fulfilling experience.
The host also provided a detailed list of local shows, attractions, and hiking areas in the Lake City/Pepin area. This extra mile made our stay even more enjoyable as we explored the best of what the region has to offer.
I highly encourage you to check out this Victorian home and immerse yourself in its beauty and craftsmanship. It truly is a perfect destination for creating lasting memories with your loved ones.
