The location and surroundings were beautiful, the building was gorgeous, the room was spotless, well equipped and lovely. The bed was comfortable and warm. We were only there one night but it was a nice stay. The kettle, tea and coffee was grand and some nice biscuits. And the products left for showering were nice. There were plenty of towels and it felt well kept and modern inside while keeping the tradition of the old building. It was a nice stay.
I parked and could only see one entrance which was to the bar, so I queued up as there is no reception (which is fine) and the bar tender told me to walk down a corridor (no signs pointing towards that from the bar) and take a white door, but I couldn’t see one so after getting a bit lost she came out and closed a brown door which was covering the white door - there were so signs and she wasn’t particularly friendly about it but hey ho. I letter discovered that if you walk around the building on the road there is another entry door which leads to the rooms directly (with a keypad entry) but there was no sign so I wouldn’t have necessarily thought that was the entrance even if I had seen it on arrival. The room had instructions to use a six digit code for a digital pad to get in - that took about 6 attempts. We got in in the end but you wouldn’t want to have had a few drinks! It also advertised free WiFi but I couldn’t see anything about it in the room or on the instructions- maybe that was me just not seeing it.

Location meant we could enjoy country walk to excellent pub with evening meals available at nearby Waterfall; room was spacious and comfy, though.
Breakfast as not available and pub kitchen was closed for evening meal; stairs are very narrow for carrying a suitcase

The size of the rooms and the modern shower facilities were amazing. We arrived a little later than anticipated and a lovely girl called Stacey helped us with all of our luggage from the car park directly to the room and took the time to show us how the digital locks worked as well as the shower, which I thought was a lovely touch. We walked in for dinner at around 8:15 p.m. although it was very busy they were more than happy to accommodate. My wife had the sea bass in white wine sauce which she said was bloody brilliant and I played it safe with the local aged steak and I must say it was done perfectly and even had handcut chips which is a rarity in this day and age in pubs. I had the homemade rhubarb crumble with custard and my wife had a battered Snickers with ice cream and they were out of this world.
Nothing seem to be too much for the attended staff and we shall definitely be recommending this place to our family and friends.
Although not a negative, we did book this room knowing that we would not be served breakfast. However, if the dinner was of such a great quality, I still to this date wonder what their breakfast would have been like. There is however, a cafe 4-minute walk up the road which opens from 9:00 a.m. and a convenience store serving baps and cobs 20 m away. The option of having no breakfast actually suited us very well as we were going for a hiking trail all day and we preferred lighter grab option from the convenience store.
