There really aren’t enough words
to describe how fantastic this hotel is. The building is so beautiful - even more beautiful in person than the pictures suggest, if that’s possible.
But what makes this hotel so special is the impeccable five star service. The staff here are nothing short of fantastic - it was, by far, some of the best service I have ever received, and I travel a lot.
A special thank you to the wonderful Cynthia who looked after us from start to finish, but all the staff, from the breakfast servers to the doormen, were so amazing. The rooms are well designed and have everything you could possibly need. We are returning in a couple of weeks and I’m so glad we opted for the same hotel. I can’t wait.

Third time here. Just love this hotel overlooking the Zocolo. Such amazing old world charm with modern upgrades. Beautiful Tiffinay glass. The reception staff, in particular Cynthia and Rosa were the best. Highly recommend

We celebrated a very special anniversary at Gran Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff was especially welcoming and efficient!

Our stay was incredible. The only downside was that the Zocalo can get very noisy at night.

We loved our four night stay at the elegant and historic Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico. The decorations inside the hotel for Mexican Independence Day were fantastic - so colorful, fun, and welcoming every time we returned from a day of touring. And the beautiful elevators, which have been featured in movies, were fun to ride in. We had a Zocalo View room that was very spacious, attractive and updated. The staff was super attentive. The welcome dessert was a real treat, and we enjoyed watching all the Zocalo activities from the rooftop Terraza Bar most evenings with a cocktail, and in the mornings for the bountiful breakfast buffet. This hotel is in the perfect spot to get an authentic taste of Mexico City life - past and present. We enjoyed walking all around the area exploring the various stores, restaurants, the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Temple Mayor and its museum. We used cabs or Uber to tour places a little farther away. We would definitely stay in this hotel again if we return to Mexico City.

Beautiful hotel! The highlights of the hotel are the iron gate elevators and stain glass ceiling. Staff is extremely attentive! Old school hotel and there is some old school wear and tear - but still an absolute gem near the Zócalo.

The service was excellent! The area outside the hotel not so much. In the mornings, when we would leave the hotel, we would find homeless people right outside the main entrance and when stepping outside it smelled like sewage. Besides that, the service at the restaurant La Terraza was very, very good (the food is a bit pricey for Mexico City). The view from the restaurant was amazing! You dine right in front of the massive Mexican flag and you can see everything in the Zocalo from the restaurant. You don't need to make a reservation because they reserve tables specially for guest which was nice. Be aware that the area where the hotel is located does not allow cars to come in. We took a taxi form the bus terminal to the hotel and the taxi driver had to drop us off a block away (I didn't like that very much).

Stunning stained glass windows. The restaurant had the best chicken soup I’ve ever had in my life. The bell men were outstanding. The shower head could have been replaced and the pillows could have been better. Other than those minor things, it was great.

The property itself is simply beautful! We loved coming "home" to it each evening. Special recognition to Diego, he was always so helpful and peasant.

The place was clean and the staff was mostly friendly. The building itself is very beautiful. However, we had issues with the shower not draining and wasted time and energy trying to get it fixed for about 2 days.

Gran Hotel Ciudad de Mexico is one of the finest hotels we have ever stayed in! Marvelous architectural jewel with a spectacular stained glass ceiling and classically elegant design. The service is impeccable and the gracious hospitality and kind attention to detail we experienced during our stay was extraordinary. José Luis and Manuel in particular made us feel like distinguished guests every day. The hotel is ideally located right on one of the corners of El Zócalo in a fascinating neighborhood, full of historical landmarks, fine dining, and world class museums. We were within walking distance of many of the restaurants and places of interest that friends had recommended for our brief visit. The building, the staff, the breakfast buffet, the room itself, the view, and the amenities far exceeded our expectations. It was a splendid choice for our wedding anniversary and we absolutely recommend it. Gran Hotel Ciudad de México is magnificent!
