From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel right at home at this beautiful ecolodge! Our family of 4 spent three nights at the Toucanet, and it was an incredible experience. From the charming reception, to the delicious made to order breakfast, to the stunning surrounding grounds, it was everything we could have hoped for. We wanted to be immersed in the cloud forest experience, and with the help of our Toucanet concierge, Michael, we were able to book an intimate and extraordinary tour of a local coffee plantation as well as a guided bird seeking expedition. We didn’t glimpse the elusive quetzal, but we gained a ton of knowledge about the region and toured the beautiful highlands of Copey. This is a true ecolodge with few frills in the cabins, but they are immaculately kept, the grounds are lovely (with a creek running through), and the view from our large balcony overlooking the valley made morning coffee taste all the better. Thanks, Toucanet Lodge, for an unforgettable stay! We will be back!

Good place to enjoy birdwatching as well as jut relaxing. A good place to get out of the warm weather.
PROS: Very quiet and cool weather. Love the stream that runs under the little bridges. The breakfast was good. Many extra blankets available in the room. Restaurant looks new.
CONS: American Express not accepted. Had to booked on Expedia due to this. Had to book a different room online, family room for 6p with fireplace, because that was they only one that would come up as available, reception told us to book it online, but they would still give us a smaller standard room for 3p. The price was cheaper for a bigger room online than if you paid in person for the standard room.
The price is pretty high for what you receive. Simple bedroom with a bathroom that needs urgent remodeling. The bathroom looks so outdated, you can even see the pipes under the sink... Some lights did not work in the room, the cheap white bulbs really kill the nature ambiance.
At check in they said the restaurants closed at 8pm, but when we went to eat around 7:15pm, the restaurant was already closed, they said they closed it at 6:30 because no one had come to eat. So we were forced to skip dinner. there is nothing around, so you have NO other options. Keep in mind this was in high season (January) on a Saturday night.
Very basic hotel room $130 USD for 1 night... Price is too high for what you get.

As a birder, there are lots of birds in the area. You can do well just walking up the road. Food served for breakfast and dinner was very good! Not much else nearby for lunch or dinner options. It is a quiet, rural area, which I loved.

We were here for one night and were the only guests.
The property is gorgeous. There is a little nature trail taking you through coffee plants, various fruit trees and bushes, and flowers.
A beautiful waterfall right outside our front door.
Inside the cabin is very minimal. The bed was not very comfortable.
Pack warm as it gets very cold at night.
The food was amazing. Very fresh and whole food ingredients.
The breakfast was also delicious.

This place is awesome. The staff were so nice and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay good. Beautiful room and grounds, great restaurant. Shower was actually hot, as they have a real gas water heater and not the electric showerhead things that are so common in CR. All in all it was totally worth the somewhat convoluted drive to get here. Would love to return and stay longer.

Great location and property, very different to beach based ones but felt a little cold at night! Enjoyed restaurant cuisine.

We only were able to stay one night, but wished we could have been there longer. This is a very cozy and well maintained lodging. The scenery was beautiful and deserves more time to discover. The wooden furnishings made it like a back woods cabin. The wrap around window design of the restaurant allowed for a great view of the countryside and the numerous bird feeders just outside brought a plethora of bird life to observe. Staff were courteous and always had a smile.
