Overall great. Outdated but clean. No soundproofing though. I could hear a room next to us, and the room across from us when leaving the room. Water pressure was great, but drained very slowly. Fridge made tol much noise. Temperature was great, sheet was clean and comfortable. Pillow was not super comfy.

Arrived very early to hotel, amazed at the great check in I had with the young lady! Got me in earlier than I expected. Room wasn’t quite ready but would be in less than a couple hours. They held my luggage so I could go wander. I returned a bit later, to be given an upgrade! From a standard to a King Suite! Thank you Sylvia Hotel and Hotels.ca! I have never been upgraded like this. Very much appreciated, I felt like a “queen” in the King Suite❤️😃👍

My little escape was very comfortable. The room wasn’t fancy, but it was large and clean and i slept well. I don’t usually eat much in the hotels where i stay, but the food here was excellent and i ate there everyday.

Overall a great stay. All staff are welcoming and helpful. Washroom is a bit outdated, especially the shower but nothing to complain about really.

I stayed one night with my friends to celebrate my birthday. It was one of the nicest stays I’ve had in a Vancouver hotel. And I’m a local. The front desk staff was absolutely amazing. Very friendly, kind and just made you feel at home. We all had such a great time!!

Nice location, but this place is way overrated. I realize it's a historic building, but the walls are paper thin -- I could hear not only my next door neighbors on either side, but also everything in the hallway, and the neighbor across the hall too! If I wanted to feel like I was staying in a hostel, I could have saved a ton of money and done just that. Also, check-in begins at 3PM, and I received a voicemail at 4:30PM asking me where I was... I was on a plane! And since I didn't answer my phone (again, on a plane), they charged my card for the first night as if I was going to be a no-show... seriously? If they cared so much about when I was going to arrive, perhaps they could've asked me more in advance, which they did not. This hotel just seems to be too full of itself, save yourself the money (and get some better sleep) staying elsewhere.

A Vancouver institution. My room felt very dated, but overall the hotel has a lovely atmosphere and the view onto English Bay from the restaurant is lovely.

Quirky hotel, yes it's old with no air conditioning but none of that mattered. Staff all friendly, great location for Stanley Park and right on English Bay. About 30-40 minute walk to Canada Place but public bus 5/6 2 mins walk from hotel. Easy access to airport no. 5/6 bus to Yaletown Roundhouse then Canada Line to airport. Approx 50 mins total.

Great location. Staff were great. Within walking distance to downtown and many restaurants. Adjacent to Stanley Park. Only negative is old carpet in rooms and hallways.

Lovely old hotel with a great outlook towards English Bay. Impressed with the restaurant menu. It’s also reasonably walkable to most places or there’s buses handy.

We booked this trip last minute and we were absolutely thrilled with our choice! The Sylvia Hotel is full of old time charm and sophistication. From the moment we entered the lobby, we felt as if we had stepped into a by-gone era. The wonderful black and white photos of days gone by, the friendly welcome from the front desk staff, and English Bay beach just steps from the door, we knew that we had stumbled upon what felt to us like a hidden gem.
As expected by the age and history of this hotel, our standard king room was small in comparison to larger, newer hotel rooms, but it was by no means cramped. Well laid out with windows that actually open to let in the sea breeze, it was perfect. The bathroom is small, reflecting the era of the building, but has everything needed for a relaxing stay.
As for cleanliness, the housekeeping staff do an amazing job. Our room was spotless and inviting from the moment we stepped inside the door.
Breakfast in the restaurant had lots of great choices and we were charmed by the friendly and attentive waitstaff.
The Sylvia Hotel is a wonderful change to the often impersonal newer hotels, and with its location beside English Bay, you just can't beat those amazing sunsets!

The Sylvia is across the street from Stanley Park. There is a restaurant on the property, as well as others in the area. The front desk will call you a cab if you need to travel to another area of town. Very friendly staff.
