A gorgeous property. Loved all of the outdoor seating and the river view. The staff were amazing. Loved how close you were to the restaurants and shops. Would absolutely stay here again and am very sad we weren't staying for longer.

Enjoyed our stay despite arriving later than planned. Manager was helpful with helping with registration. The hotel is quaint and we loved the fire pit by the river.

We’ve stayed several tim s and have always had an amazing, quiet, lovely experience. The owners and staff take such great pride in their beautiful hotel. We love everything about it!

Only stayed 1 night but that view to wake up to in the morning...priceless!! The Shire was great in keeping communication with me before and up to our stay, especially since they have limited front desk hours. Would stay here again, definitely.

Was very clean, and convenient to downtown, but no extras at all, had to go to the grocery store to get water, was very noisy, no cups in the bathroom, no chairs on the balcony….for the price we paid, we expected a lot more

The people working there were wonderful, the location and views were exceptional. We expected more amenities for the price we paid. For example, upon arrival we were informed that they don’t offer their guests housekeeping services! We recognize that times are hard and help is hard to find. We don’t need to be waited on, but we paid more than twice what we usually pay for a room so we we’re expecting more.

Honestly this place is a mess. They promote it as a beautiful hotel with gorgeous grounds to walk on. It is not that. First of all the pictures are deceiving. The hotel is a glorified motel with a nice backyard. Which by the way, we didn't even get to see. We had a view of the parking lot with zero privacy. Nobody even instructed us how to find the yard. We had to search for it. Second, two different people walked into our hotel room with keys. Thank goodness we were just sitting on the couch, but an hour after we checked in someone came in and an hour before we checked out someone came in. That is so unacceptable it's shocking. Third, when we tried to check in they had no idea how much I owed and talked to me about someone else's credit card info. I had to tell them what I owed. We gave them a card and instead they charged the one on file for incidentals. Not only did they hold money on the wrong card, but they did it three times! So instead of $100 hold on the wrong card, we had $300 on the wrong card. The room is about as basic as a room could possibly be. No perks and barely even any art or anything. The room has a paper thin blanket on it and the wall ac/heating unit smells like fire when it's working and is very loud. The bathroom is so stark white and boring with a giant crack in the wall. Had we paid $100-$200 for this night we'd let this all go, but we paid $420 for this absolute scam of a hotel. Not to mention, the hotel is under construct

We loved this little hotel! Enjoyed the scenic area by the river and the convenience of staying in Woodstock! The bed was very comfortable, and the room was quiet!

I liked the hotel but not crazy about the room this time. It did overlook the river but very little privacy. Overall a very good place for the price. Stayed there before with a much better room

Very nice hotel in a very cozy town with lot of small local stores to walk around. Driving distance to famous Woodstock covered bridges and Quechee Gorge bridge.

The manager assured me she would follow up with me after many crossed wires on our room and the hotel communication and now a few weeks later I have heard nothing. I assume she just said all of that to try to make me happy but had no intention of remedying the situation. We received MULTIPLE emails before we checked in to the hotel about our stay but found it almost impossible to communicate with the hotel. We booked a room with two queen beds and river view (by the way most/all rooms have a view) and were told room was not available on day of check in. Promised we would be given two rooms instead - but when we checked in the staff gaslighted us. We arrived around 6 pm and asked for suggestions on where to eat and told that we likely would find no place to eat (?). Gentle reader, we did find a place to eat on our own.
