Unique attractive historic building full of character. Unfortunately our room was oppressively hot and the air conditioning could not be switched on as the hotel considered the temperature outside to be too cold and they were using the central heating so we cold not have air conditioning! The hotel could not supply a fan and their suggested solution was simply to open the windows. We were only staying one night on a stop-over en route to Portugal and we did not use the restaurant facilities - the menu seemed expensive but may well have been good value for money

Noisy, Room very small, light in room broken, views from room was the parking car and dinning room unavailable as there was a wedding happening in the main square at the entrance.
In my opinion doesn’t deserve the money.

Beautiful parador in the mountains. A unique experience staying here. The most castle-y parador we stayed at in Spain

As experienced in late March 2015 at a very good rate of €80 inc breakfast.
Very nice location & surroundings - it was a palace for Charles I (of Spain).
Excellent room with very comfortable twin beds (close together for intimacy, if you want it!) and beautiful bathroom.
Bathroom let down by the shower as the glass screen on edge of bath was inadequate to prevent water on the floor.
Machinery type "hum" in our room was occasionally slightly intrusive at night - couldn't find the source and it wasn't our air-con as it was off.
Pleasant views from our window of the town's water park (could be noisy in summer, I suppose) and of the mountains (Sierra de Gredos).
The food in the restaurant was disappointing. Portions were not generous and choice was very limited and didn't change over the 5 days we were there. We found eating in the town (5 to 10 minutes walk) was much better and cheaper - we would recommend Meson La Botica, particularly if you're really hungry, and you must try their Croquetas (the best we've had in a very long time).
We borrowed their two mountain bikes for a day, but these proved to be in very poor condition with virtually no brakes (scary on some of the hills) and mine had a slipping rear wheel (weird, yes I know!). A pity, as we would have liked to have gone further.

We arrived on the 5th June and Jarrandilla do Vale was Very easy to find I expected the countryside from Placencia to be mountainous,,,it was rolling green hills. It was also easy to leave next morning and travel to Trujillo [do not miss it] It's where the Pizarro brothers grew up and went to Peru and slaughterd the Incas. Driving is a breeze, hardly any traffic and roads which are in very good condition Road signs are large and easy to follow...unlike in the U.K.e.g. hidden behind trees, small and sometimes just a number. The Spanish are very friendly, so get a phrase book, it will help
