The Flavia hotel is gorgeous with masterfully curated artwork, upscale design and unique furniture. The restaurant on site has incredible food and cocktails. My wife and I loved every aspect of the hotel. The view of Oaxaca city from our room was the highlight. I would like to add that the service was amazing! They were always making sure all of our needs were met, and going above and beyond. One thing that stood out to us was the attention to detail and how knowledgeable everyone was about the art and the city. They offer a tour of the artwork at the hotel and restaurant which we thought was so cool! Lastly, it was so clean and comfortable. We will recommend Flavia to anyone who visits the beautiful city of Oaxaca.

This hotel is absolutely stunning. From the architecture to the art to the gorgeous views, everything is so well curated and well presented. The staff really does make this place an absolute pleasure. My stay would not have been anywhere near as enjoyable if it weren’t for Rafa, Dany and Max. They were all so welcoming and friendly. The hotel’s restaurant was very good, and the bar selection gave me a wonderful opportunity to try fantastic local spirits. I honestly didn’t want to leave the property.
With that being said, this hotel definitely has its quirks. Each room is individual and different…sexy and sophisticated. BUT…you can hear every single noise from the restaurant above. I spoke with the staff about this and heard about the great lengths they’ve gone through to remedy this. They actually closed down the hotel for two weeks to pull up the entire restaurant floor and install sound deadening foam. Unfortunately it didn’t work. The good news is that everything closes up and quiets down around 11pm.
There is also no air conditioning. In the entire hotel. So even with the room fan on high, it was still quite warm. If you have to have your hotel room cold, this may not be the place for you.
The hotel also lacks a few conveniences of other normal hotels. There are no irons or ironing boards in the rooms. Nor are there any ice machines. They do have tiny refrigerators and safes, though.
Despite these quirks, this hotel is absolutely worth a stay. I enjoyed it greatly

Absolutely stunning hotel and experience. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, and they’re invested in the hotel and love the property too. The art installations take it to another level. One thing to note is the hotel is an architectural home converted into a hotel so it is comfortable like a home and laid out that way. There are only 11 rooms as well and not that many staff, so it does feel a little more casual than other high end hotels. The service is wonderful though and they take care of you and pay attention to everything. The staff agreed that if any improvements should be made to the hotel it would be installing air conditioning. There was no cross breeze or real windows in our unit during this hot season, but leaving the door open with the provided fan cooled the room off enough to be comfortable at night. Absolutely love this hotel and would stay again!

Hotel Flavia has potential with its excellent atmosphere, city views, comfortable beds, and great showers! However, our stay was pretty disappointing due to several issues with the staff, food, and room temperature. The welcome drinks weren't good. Despite the pool being right next to the bar, we had to ask for service. The appetizers we had were good. Dinner wasn't anything special, and despite their low number of menu options, they did not have chicken, and my husband had to dispose of the poor-quality beef. The dessert was completely overpriced and such a joke! I will gladly pay for anything that is good, but their dessert was basic, something you can make at home out of a box. Breakfast was a letdown, too. Despite explaining in Spanish how we wanted our eggs cooked, they managed to overcook them. We even pulled up a picture because we could tell the waitress was struggling to understand. They kept running out of basic ingredients, which was frustrating given the number of options they had. The rooms didn't have AC, and the fans they provided weren't enough to keep us cool. We had to leave the window open, but then we got woken up by barking dogs in the middle of the night. Overall, while the hotel looks good online, the reality didn't match up. The staff seemed overwhelmed and felt like they weren't properly managing the place. It has potential, but they need to step up their game with better management and food quality for us to consider returning.

the property is beautiful. the staff was (Rafe and Max) exceptional-friendly, responsive and had great suggestions for things to do and eat. the cocktails so very good!! Food very good as well. Just a beautiful space at every turn.
it is 20 minutes from the city centre so you have account for that everyday. and it is a steep hill but the view is worth it! the surrounding neighborhood is not walkable...they should pave the road next to the hotel where there are private homes. HOOKS in the bathroom for towels please!

After reading the bad reviews, I was skeptical and worried about staying here. However, I am honestly so happy we stayed at Hotel Flavia. My boyfriend and I are world travelers, so we’ve seen and experienced a lot (good, bad, pretty, and ugly). We both feel grateful to all the staff. When I say all, I am referring to the security, housekeeper, cleaning staff, manager, and servers (everyone). Thank you all for making our experience unforgettable! Rafael, who runs the hotel, was increíble. We are in awe of his knowledge of the property, architecture, design, and art. He made us feel at home and made sure we were taken care of. If we had questions or needed help, he always found a solution. All the staff is in syne, and if someone has a question and doesn’t know that “specific job/answer,” it does not matter. They will help you and find the person who can help you further. They won’t tell you, “No, sorry, or I don’t know.” They helped you! I loved that! What I love about Rafael is that he wears different hats. He sees something that needs to be done, and he does it, from running the hotel to helping carry luggage. He has excellent management skills and the charisma to excel as a leader. I do logistics, operations, and production, so I notice everything. I was impressed! Sebastian, our waiter, was attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu, had great food recommendations, and made all of our dining experiences fun and stress-free. I highly recommend Hotel Flavia.
