About this house rental
Description:
This historic home offers a breathtaking city skyline view and an escape from the monochrome beige and white of modern design.
Each room bursts with bold colors, lovingly restored furniture, and captivating original art. Every corner is a celebration of unique aesthetics, thoughtfully curated to make your stay unforgettable.
Inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s beloved tale, The Little Prince, the artwork and decor throughout the house create a whimsical, immersive experience.
We lovingly named this space "The Little Prince House" to reflect its whimsical, imaginative charm.
About the Property:
The house features a stunning exterior mural and decor that bring the story to life. Whether you’re a fan of the book or new to it, you’ll find this space enchanting and unique--especially if you are a fan of maximalism, vivid color, and vintage design.
This is a space made to hold special experiences and memories. You'll find yourself in photo-perfect settings with perfect backdrops; you won't forget the time you spent inside this magical space.
Unusual things you'll find here:
- A cabinet full of art supplies, free for you to use
- An assortment of percussion instruments
- A model plane suspended from the bedroom ceiling
- A record player and an assortment of records
- Two typewriters with colorful ink
- A variety of tarot and oracle cards
- A stairwell lit with hundreds of glow in the dark stars
- Two vintage green toilets, and a bathtub dyed to match
- Blacklight art
- tiny surprises
At this time you won't find a TV in the space, but there is a pulldown screen under the mantle in the living room, and a mini-projector that's very easy to set up. If you plan to watch a movie just bring a laptop or phone with a usb-c input.
Located in Birmingham’s Southside neighborhood, The Little Prince House is close to everything in downtown Birmingham.
- 1 mile from UAB
- 2 miles from the Civil Rights Institute
- 3 miles from the BJCC Civic Center
- 14 miles from Oak Mountain Amphitheater
Perched just below the iconic Vulcan statue, the house provides a magnificent view of the city skyline, especially at sunset. We recommend watching from the emerald green sun porch or outside at the picnic table.
The Little Prince House is a wonderful place for families with children--although the steep terraces outside may be a challenge if you have fast-moving toddlers.
We hope you’ll find this place as magical and memorable as we do.
Other things to note:
- The house sits just under the statue of Vulcan that overlooks Birmingham and has a magnificent view of the city skyline. There is a very narrow parking space for one vehicle, and there is street parking available for additional cars.
- There are 40 stairs from the street to the house. We know this makes the house not accessible for everyone; please only book if you're able to walk up stairs to access the home.
- This historic house is filled with art and color and uniquely restored items; it's not a typical AirBNB. If you're looking for a newer place with brand new appliances, this may not be a good fit for you.
- The house is heated and cooled with two mini-split ductless air conditioners. Each bedroom also has a window unit for heating and cooling.
