About this house rental
The date stone at House of Craigie reads “8 Apryle 1746” and a past resident warranted a mention in a poem penned by Scotland’s national bard, Robert Burns.
In present times the House is comfortably furnished and equipped, available as an Exclusive Use family holiday home. The main House with its indoor pool and spacious reception rooms on the ground floor accommodates up to 16 plus 2 children sharing, with the option to accommodate extra guests by separately booking the adjacent, self-contained Cottage Courtyard.
While the main House accommodates up to 18 the Courtyard Cottages can be added by booking separately for extra guests.
The main House of Craigie has 8 double sized bedrooms on first and second floor.
The Cottage Courtyard provides comfortable, self-contained accommodation for up to 10 extra guests with underfloor heating and double glazing in our fully up-graded historic stone-built courtyard. All bedrooms are provided with double/king or twin beds, Egyptian cotton linens, duvets and towels.
Indoors the heated swimming pool is part of the main House with poolside showers and large floor to ceiling windows overlook the terraced rear garden. The pool is accessed directly from the games room with its full-size table tennis.
Outdoors there are 8 acres of private gardens and grounds for guests to enjoy including an all-weather surfaced tennis court.
The House and grounds enjoy open outlooks over green, rolling farmland in all directions and out to the west to the mountains of the islands of Arran and Jura and to the southwest to the iconic island of Ailsa Craig beyond Ayr Bay, a volcanic remnant quoted by John Keats in his poem "To Ailsa Rock". On clear days the distant heads of Ireland can be seen too. Sunsets are always spectacular with these islands as backdrops.
Mainly guests book on a self-catering basis but we do have a list of approved suppliers, such as caterers, cocktail classes, themed décor for special occasions and musicians. Each supplier has been vetted and has necessary, required insurance in place.
All major supermarkets deliver to the House and holiday groceries can therefore be arranged to arrive as guests check in.
The seaside towns of Troon and Prestwick are just 8 miles distant with long sandy beaches and individual, specialist shops plus Ayrshire’s most famous links golf courses, Royal Troon and Prestwick the birthplace of The Open. Kilmarnock is just 4 miles downhill with its major stores, a 10-screen cinema and its Pavilion Theatre, plus the local Caprington Golf Club just 2 miles away also offers the new sport of “foot golf”.
