We had such a great time. The views are breathtaking. We had everything we needed and the boat was very responsive and friendly. Thank you for sharing your place with us.

What a beautiful home with a zillion dollar view. Everything was so clean and well-appointed. The beds were comfortable, there were plenty of linens and the kitchen is well-stocked for cooking needs. The back yeard was immaculate and we enjoyed spending most of our time there. We appreciated the careful and timely communication with the property owner. We will absolutely stay here again.

Wonderful ocean view. Great location

This was a great house for our family of 5. We enjoyed staying here to see the Redwoods. The house was smaller than expected but the view of the ocean made up for its size. Although the house and neighborhood were older, the house was very clean and well-kept.

Great views of the ocean in both the early morning fogs and the spectacular sunsets!House well prepared for us, nice touch.

We were so happy when we walked into the house to see the ocean view just as it was portrayed in the advertisement. The house was clean and nicely appointed. We were happy to see the yatzee game.

The view from the house is just amazing! The house was so clean and beautiful. It’s such a peaceful location! The beds were comfortable and the house had everything we needed and more. I will definitely book this place again in the future.

I made the booking for my parents so I am summarizing what they said. They absolutely loved the place, especially the views and the awesome layout of the house. Plenty of windows with ocean views, the hot tub is the cherry on top. They loved the endless smooth beach area that they were able to walk on and the ease of the whole process. They even asked me to extend their stay by an extra night because of how much they enjoyed their stay. On my end (their son), I was tasked with communicating with the owner of the place and she was incredibly helpful and super responsive. She made this whole process smooth and easy. She was a great communicator and a very nice person to deal with. I would highly recommend this place for the ease of communication and my parents recommend it for the incredible views and experience.

We had a great trip and the house was in good order had everything we need and treats to go with it. I had a lovely walk to the beach each morning and the hot Tub was very nice in the evening. The views were wonderful.

The view of the beach and ocean are wonderful. though Hwy 101 is close by, the traffic is not loud. lots of amenities both at this property and in towns nearby. the hot tub was spotless as were the bathrooms and the entire home is very nicely cared for. bring a bag of quality wood pellet fuel as the pellet stove works perfectly. check the burn pot prior to lighting, as always. beds were very clean and comfortable. nothing cheap linen or pillow-wise. the couch is also comfortable to sleep on. lots of hot water and pressure is great. the washer/ dryer are newer and work great!
Bunnies, birds and critters all over. nice paved roads which to walk. minutes from the very large quiet beach too!
I'm pretty picky, I travel and rent often, I have to say, this pad is pretty slick and clean. I traveled with my daughter however I can see this to be a romantic spot for a long weekend or week.
The kitchen is perfect size, lots of cooking hardware and devices. we bring our own electric skillets though there are plenty of pots pans and electric gadgets available to create great meals. stove sink dishwasher are clean and work perfectly. all the drains in this house also work as they should. the trinkets you will find are adorable. custom light switch covers, real plants throughout. If I were going to chose a place to retire this house is setup just right. floors? they too are spotless. towels are provided and are in good shape. even the TP is quality. Deck is sturdy and newer. there is a ton of charm throughout this property. the manager responds quickly. she provided great coffee grounds, creamer and a nice box of fresh tarts that were wonderful. the coffee maker has reusable filter BTW.
The manager is easy going and very friendly. I will rent this property in the future. Highly recommended!! we are CA residents.

It was a beautiful view at all times. The contact/hostess was very nice. There were some issues w ants in the kitchen, a harsh mildew smell downstairs, pet friendly,
not small child friendly. It would be better suited for teens and/or adults. The pictures presented w the online listing were disappointly deceptive. It was a drive not a walk to the beach. I thought I was going to be directly on the beach which, is why I chose the property.

Let's start with our very accommodating and wonderful host, Deborah. She was helpful, informative and cheerful. Her own little place is right next door, but she kept to herself unless you needed her. Thank you Deborah!
The view! OMG, THE VIEW! Lovely. We could have sat all day and stared at the ocean. The 101 goes past the bottom of the bluff that the house sits on, but the traffic that goes past is hardly an issue. At night there is little or no traffic and we kept the windows open to hear the ocean.
Everything was delightful and we truly enjoyed our stay.

This funky old beach house has a great view, but it is way overpriced and the listing is deceptive. Be warned: it is not “steps to the beach”. You need at least 5-10 minutes to drive to the other side of the highway and down to one of the parking lots. Although the beds can sleep 6 people, the dining table has room to seat only two. Lucky there was just two of us and even that was a tight fit. But, here’s the thing which really irked us, the property manager is a company called Evolve, which makes it even more confusing to deal with and the list of charges that drive up the price of the rental will send your head reeling. We are new to VRBO, so we were not careful about this. The final price we paid was at least one third higher than the listing due to the service charges that are not refundable. And they demand that you pay an exorbitant “damage protection” insurance policy, not a security deposit. That’s not refundable even when no damage has been done. We rented the house for two weeks for a ton of money and while we enjoyed our stay, we came away feeling like we could have gone to Hawaii and stayed in a hotel for that amount of money. Also, Evolve warns you somewhere deep into the paperwork that there are NO REFUNDS at all! For any reason. So, buyer beware. We will learn from this and never rent from Evolve again. On the plus side, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms and kitchen were somewhat clean and functional, though nothing special. The interior of the bathroom/kitchen cabinets needed cleaning out. There are a few windows with no screens or holes in the screens which made it a little annoying when the flies came in. We never saw anyone come to service the hot tub, (which could use a new cover) so we stopped using it after awhile. Both the gas and the Weber BBQs were very grimy so we did not use them, and the decks/railings really need to be sanded and painted. The master bed has side tables, but no lamps and no outlets near the bed, so we bought an extension cord, moved a lamp from another bedroom and made a place to plug in our phones. The owner is pleasant and does her best to stay quiet as she lives in the converted garage with her dog who does bark a little but was not a problem. Overall, it was a quaint, kind of run down and neglected beach house, but not worth the cost.

Agree with other renters that this house is extremely overpriced for what you get. Nothing is updated, there is a mildew smell and the bathrooms/ bedrooms leave a lot to be desired. BUT the view is amazing. The property’s location/ proximity to beaches, Arcata, Trinidad is great.
I was surprised that the property contact person lived RIGHT NEXT DOOR in the garage. The persons dogs did bark a lot. But other then that we had no interactions with them.
There’s also an old tv with no internet access to use Netflix etc. which is handy when you’re traveling with kids.
Love the view of this house, but wouldn’t stay here again unless it was “updated” (general maintenance done).

The home is NOT ocean front like advertised nor is it steps away...it is across the Hwy in the flight path of the airport and is a short drive down a steep hill, under the Hwy overpass to get to the beach.
The photos show furniture in the living room and a piano that are not there anymore. The window screens in the living room are either missing or have holes in them so trying to air out the home to minimize the mildew smell only lets flies in.
Very disappointed at the condition for the cost of the stay!
We arrived shortly after check in time and had to wait for the cleaning crew to move their vehicles from the very steep and tight parking space. When we entered the home we were pleased with the wonderful wood floors and the beautiful view. We unpacked our groceries and I spilled a bottle of water on the floor and mopped it up with paper towels only to discover how dirty the floors were. I looked for a mop to give it a quick go over before we walked barefoot on it and couldn't find one anywhere. The garbage/recycling center in the kitchen smelled awful and there was food and napkins that had spilled over and were not cleaned up. When we walked out on the back deck there were several of the boards were rotten and a few that are a tripping hazard. The deck railing is super loose so don't lean on it. The converted garage is about 3 ft. from the house and the person who resides there has a very loud barking dog so that was fun also. The previous renters didn't do a good job of cleaning their pet messes so we made sure to take care of that before we put our 2 dogs out ( the pet baggies that are supposed to be in the drawer next to the stove were non existent so we used our own).
Our first night was very sleepless, the beds were so uncomfortable that we ended up sleeping on the couches and the mildew smell in the basement where 2 of the bedrooms are is awful! The dishes, pots and pans had food stuck to them. I contacted the host to let them know of the issues and instead of trying to be helpful she was offended and told us we could leave and that the beds were 2 years old and she hadn't had any complaints, that her cleaning person did a great job and she did a walk through before the new renters came in and that she was basically insulted.... We checked the tags on the mattresses ( my significant other is in the mattress business) and they are 10 years old with at least a 4" dip in the middle so you roll to the center!

Evolve charged me over $600/night. This place should be less than half that. It is quaint and charming, but the cost is exorbitant. Evolve didn’t respond to my request to apply a credit to the cost, and was impossible to contact directly. We enjoyed our stay but there is no direct beach access, the owners live in close proximity on the property so our experience wasn’t private by any means, the house itself is very old with insufficient ventilation in the living room and hot water for the upstairs shower. All of these things would be ok if the rate was less than half of what I paid. Very unpleasant experience dealing with Evolve, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The most amazing view!
My families' only regret was that we didn't stay another night.

Clam Beach House
The quaint bungalow is a gem. Most beautiful sunsets! Close to clam beach, beach town of Trinadad, Red Woods, and much more. The bungalow offered a place to enjoy our family after our outings and was pet friendly. Quail and rabbits were fun to watch in the early mornings. The only wish list items were kitchen/ disinfectant to wash counters and table and pot holders. Minor things that would have perfected our stay.

. Centrally located for day
So beautiful! We loved the house. Centrally located for day trips north for beaches and redwoods, or, south for beaches, sightseeing and fun. Living room sunsets are spectacular. Beds are very comfortable. Great host. Thank you for sharing your home!

Contact with the manager was spotty. I didn't get the info on how to get in, had to know in door of one of the connected houses. But awesome place. Private for having close neighbors. The view was awesome!

We really appreciated the RO drinking water, tasted great! Some freeway noise from just below the cliff.

We very much enjoyed this property, and were pleasantly surprised that some of the earlier complaints had been fixed. As mentioned, it is a 2-story beach house on a bluff overlooking the beach, and it is a glorious view, indeed. However, it is a rigorous 20 minute walk down the hill, under highway 1 and across some dunes to get to the beach itself, so it is a short drive, not a walk. The beach is a glorious stretch, mostly empty, great for dogs but no facilities on the beach (tables, toilets, etc). The house is very nice, with a sitting area and kitchen on the upper floor, along with a great wrap-around deck, smallish bedroom and very tight bathroom. The kitchen is very modern, with all the utensils and pots you might need (although, yes, a few more wineglasses and plates would be nice). The lower floor is down a steepish staircase and has a large bathroom and 2 nice-sized bedrooms. It was a little chilly down there at night so we used the electric heaters.Out the lower floor is a nice-sized patio and well-maintained hot tub, with lots of seating (but no view, alas) and a "lawn" with mowed weeds. Just fine. Beautiful flowers out front. The couch and linens have been upgraded. I agree that the seating is a little tight for 6 people, and I would add that this wouldn't be a great place for anyone with disabilities. However, we had a wonderful family gathering with my parents. The beds were very comfortable, the wi-fi met even my 22 yo daughter's high standards, and we happily cooked several meals. I recommend closing all the shades during a sunny day or it gets very warm upstairs. The town of Trinidad has some small but tasty restaurants and gift shops, we really enjoyed hiking all around, especially in Redwood National Park (no dogs allowed there). Grocery stores are nearby. If I had any suggestions for the owner, I might add a bath towel rack or two and pare down the Disney pottery and plants a bit but there's a lot to love here and we would absolutely come back.

1. I have rented many homes for many years, much nicer and less money and fees. You can never cancel and get your money back. Not like the many homes I have rented. But was told I could change the date, if some thing came up. It did and I was charged $150. to do so. I was not told about that.2. The carpets, counters and cabinet are very worn out looking. Carpet looked dirty.3. Down stairs where 2 of the bedrooms are were very step. If you have bad knees or hips etc. not the plkace for you.4. Down stairs has a moldy musty smell. It sleeps 6 but only had like one towel each to use for 3 days. Only 3 wine glasses etc. you should accomadate 6 people. Have more towels.Would not say there again.

An ultra relaxing home near the beach
We stayed at the Clam House with my brother and his wife. The house was well equipped and welcoming. It was especially great to have a BBQ available as well as a full kitchen. The hot tub was a highlight of our stay. One key feature of the home Is it's location, near Clam Beach as well as local interesting towns, not to mention the Redwoods. The owner took care to make us feel welcome in her home-thank you! We would recommend this stay for a family or friends.
