Great location for exploring the Dales, proximity to local pubs, modern well-equipped kitchen and lovely bathroom. Good wifi.
Parking - the property provided 2 passes for the local car park in case of difficulty parking outside the house, but these had run out 3 weeks prior to our stay. Despite trying messaging, emailing and phoning the local representatives we had no response during our stay and had difficulty finding suitable places to park in the village.
Property would benefit from a bit of redecoration as it’s looking tired in places - lots of chips on the skirting boards and the laminate flooring downstairs looks cheap and is failing in places, plus wallpaper downstairs looks like it’s from the 1970s! TV was really basic and really needs to be upgraded to a smart TV. We think the layout could be optimised, particularly by making more of the lovely feature inglenook fireplace, plus the extra single bed in the main bedroom is unnecessary and annoying. It could be an amazing property but needs some work and thought to bring it up to the same standard as the kitchen and bathroom.

No dressing table and chair for ladies
No proper hanging area or wardrobe in two of the bedrooms
Dining area too dark and cottage could do with some updating throughout

Very clean throughout, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds (village really quiet overnight), plenty of towels, a decent shower and friendly neighbours. A complimentary bottle of shiraz and carton of Yorkshire crisps on arrival was appreciated. The front door opens straight onto Far Lane which has little road traffic and lots of passing walkers (there are curtains across the door for privacy), and there's a long, narrow split-level back garden (part gravel, part mossy stones, no grass for kids to run around on) with a picnic bench at the end. The stairs are angled at the bottom but do have reasonable handrails so the member of our party with mobility issues was able to manage them (all toilets and bedrooms are upstairs). There was occasionally a parking space available opposite the cottage and, when that was taken, the village car park is a short walk from the house. One parking permit for this was supplied in the cottage.
Fridge had a loose shelf (resulting in smashed eggs) and wasn't maintaining temperature so milk and meat didn't feel cold and went off before use-by dates. Thermostat was set to the minimum of 1oC but temperature felt noticeably warmer than our home fridge which is 4oC. We tried ringing to report the fridge during hours when the local office was given as open but received a recorded message saying the office was closed and there was no option to leave a message.
Just a suggestion that wall mirrors in the bedrooms, particularly near electrical sockets, would be helpful when drying hair.
We were there in summer, so heating wasn't an issue, but we did note the old single-glazed windows throughout.

Good pub food directly opposite and a village shop nearby
Dark wood and poor light downstairs; overgrown garden with poor access
