I had a great stay at Hotel Halifax. The hotel is quite old and run down, as described in many reviews, but the price point reflects this, and I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Location was great, very central, and I appreciated the close proximity to the foodcourt in the Scotia Centre as well as the airport bus stop. Staff were very professional and friendly, check in and check out were a breeze. The room was spacious and comfortable with a good bathroom and mini fridge. I was really happy to have a balcony and large windows, was great for natural light, could open for fresh air, and I loved having a harbour view. For the price, it was unbeatable. Bathroom was clean and there were lots of towels. Wifi was superb.
As others have described, the carpet was old and the room smelled like stale cigarettes + air freshener. So it wouldn't suit someone who gets asthma or migraines from those things. Furniture was old, some stains on chairs. Dusty under the beds. Alarm clock randomly woke me up in the middle of the night on my first night before I unplugged it. There weren't many power outlets, but enough for my needs.

Very comfy bed and good facilities in room. Also lovely pool.
Lots of building work going on there.

Great location near the waterfront (but a little hampered by the roadworks) and a big room for a city hotel. Food court and shops directly above reception were great for coffees and snacks etc.
I was unaware at the time of booking that rooms would only be serviced once for a 4 night stay.

Location. Staff was knowledgeable and courteous.
Would have liked my room cleaned more frequently, but not a big deal considering short stay. But most hotels I've stayed in before would clean daily.
Didn't like that there was no fan/vent in the washroom.
Did like the road closures and difficulty to get in and out of the parking lot, but that is out of control of hotel.

Did not have breakfast
Where the rooms were located, seems the rooms were not refurbished in a very long time.

I booked a room with a balcony so we could sit out but it wasn’t actually a balcony, it was only about 18” wide with one chair sideways. When you looked up and down all the other balconies were normal for people to sit out except ours. The balcony is the reason I chose the room but it was unusable. We even sacrificed bed size just to get the room with the balcony so it was quite a disappointment. The view would have been lovely if we could have sat out.
The balcony.

Very comfortable! Loved that it was connected to Scotia Square. We went to Mamma Gratti for delicious breakfasts. Super location and great exercise to waterfront. Love the Halifax Hills. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Filtered water station on our floor was great! Rooms were spacious.
Coffee in the rooms was awful. Real glasses to drink with would be nice.

good location
the staff is horrible. Very rude and aggressive. I had a phone call in the common area was constantly checked on passive aggressively by the staff as if I was some kind of criminal that is not allowed on premises even though I was a hotel guest.

Found bottle tops underneath the bed so now sure when under there was last cleaned. Everything else was clean. A microwave would of been nice .
