Room was ready when I arrived. Bar was convenient, staff was friendly and the hotel seemed very safe.
Hotel lobby looked nice, the bar and hallways were dated. The rooms were in dire need of a remodel. Fresh paint in the closet in my room smelled like chemicals the entire stay. Bathroom was finished with very cheap faux tile. Mildew growing on the groutlines in the shower. Shower tub had a slow drain. Room had a cold, stale feel - almost clinic-like.

Great location near Soldier Field. Easy to get to from the airport (Blue Line to La Salle and a 5' walk). bus stops right outside. Millennium Park across the road. Great price.
Bar didn't have draft beer. Rooms a bit dated and tatty.

Location: Not far from LaSalle station. Panda Express is near-by. Lake Park is close but under construction, hence NA here.
Room: clean
Bed: comfy.
Location: not the hotel's fault but it was a bit far from my meeting place. ok.
Room: bath tub drain plug was not working. Basin drain plug is weird. (it is there but there is no way to control it unless you crawl down under the basin). A bit noisy as it was 3rd floor from the street. But I sleep through ok.
Bed: the cooling was a bit too strong and there is no way to lessen it. I can turn off the fan but that would make the air stuffy. no blanket was provided but I used the bed linen cover instead.

The best thing about this hotel is its location, just down the street from the Art Institute and with easy walking distance of the CTA. I can also say the mattress in the room was very comfortable and the view facing Lake Michigan is spectacular.
Be aware that parking is not included in the price quoted. The parking behind the hotel was $62 a day, so for a three-day weekend it added a significant amount to our expenses. But really the most disappointing thing was the room renovation. The rooms in this hotel used to be historically interesting and attractive, like you were stepping back in time to the 1940s-50s. That cool atmosphere, that sense of history is gone - the room renovation looks like any other chain hotel in America. Even though the lobby is the same and still beautiful, because of that change in the room, the Congress has lost its appeal to me, it is no longer special or fun. We likely won't stay there again.

Hotelli on loistavalla paikalla keskustassa. Vanha hotelli huokuu historiaa. Huone oli kuitenkin moderni..Erityisesti nautimme siitä että lattialla ei ollut kokolattiamattoa.
Henkilökunta erittäin avuliasta. Pidimme hotellista tosi paljon.
Huoneeseen kuului autojen kovaääninen kaasutus ja tyyttäily. Äänieristys oli huono.

Good location. I got my room upgraded at no extra cost. Many facilities.
Not very clean, but it’s okay for the price. Sheets and towels were changed every other day.

The lobby was nice. We did ran a race and we enjoyed the proximity to the race.
Needs more maintenance. The faucets in the shower were leaking. In one room, the tv had no reception. The rooms were hot. We couldn’t set any kind of temperature for the room. We heard a lot of traffic noise making it hard to go to sleep. There was not a lot of light in the room. One of our rooms had only one lamp.

We liked the location a lot.. right down the street from Buckingham fountain, Grant party, millennium park and the bean! We walked everywhere to several nice restaurants and the Shedd Aquarium -and only half a mile from L-train subway station to go to Wrigley Field! Also liked the ornate older decor the building was beautiful!
Only issue was bathtub didn’t drain well after taking shower… very slow drainage.

It was in a great location, close to the lake and transport service.
It close to South Michigan Ave and the traffic noise is horrendous at night, especially during the weekend. It also had a train overpass to the rear of the building which is another source of night disturbance.

The location.
You could tell the place was old because you could smell a lot of cleaner in the room, it was too strong. The bathroom had zero counter space and a slope in the shower so you had to be careful. The room wasn’t cold like we normally can make it at other hotels. $58 for overnight parking.

It was a great location and easy to find after the concert with the sign!
The check-in at 3 was AWFUL! They needed a better way of checking people in early because it was a mad house. The staff kept telling people different things to do. It was VERY disorganized! Also, the parking was outrageous! You have to park your car and it should be included in your stay!

I love the cosmopolitan mix at the Congress - from staff to fellow travelers - love hearing the different languages, seeing different people. Staff - bellhops, front desk are terribly friendly. It is truly a big city hotel - love the hustle and bustle - love the oldness of it - love the elevators!
