Staff was super friendly and welcoming at both check in and check out. The hotel's old fashioned British inn theme is carried throughout every aspect, and feels like you're truly there. My travel companion has been to British inns and said this hotel was spot on. Loved that every room is themed after a British author, and a plaque inside the room tells you about their history. It was fun to walk around and see all of the decor throughout the hotel. Even the smell was welcoming, loved the warm apple scented candle that made the entire lobby area smell delicious.
We ate dinner at the tavern inside the hotel which was dark, cozy and immersive - and had great food too!
Continental breakfast in the morning was delicious with lots of yummy pastries, coffee and tea, juices, eggs and sausage, etc.
Beds were comfy and the room was spacious.
Parking garage beneath the hotel was very convenient, as was having 2 restaurants and a themed Starbucks onsite.
Could hear our neighbors talking well into the night and early the next morning - don't know if the walls are a bit thin or if those people were just really loud talkers. Either way, we still got a great night's sleep :)
Bathroom had an overwhelming bleach smell when we arrived, but it got better as we let it air out.
Overall, not much to complain about!

Interior decor in lobby, hallways, etc. -- historic.
Lack of adequate space to sit down for breakfast -- overcrowded. Only one elevator of the two in the whole building was working during my entire stay. The one working elevator was slow and, at one point, stalled with people aboard--and the fire department needed to be called. A scary experience for those aboard. All room telephones are blocked for making calls outside the hotel. Why?

At check-in, the staff at the reception was confused with my last name and first name, I waited a long time, and eventually, it was resolved only after connecting the call to Booking Dotcom, and the start of the trip was not so good.

Love all the British decor and each room has a bio on a famous Brit. Great idea. Breakfast is large and yummy. Staff was very helpful. STayed here several years ago and loved it. The Starbucks is my favorite EVER.
It could use a really deep clean. Beyond what you should expect from the daily maid. Vents were black with dust. Just felt like it needs a real update and a good scrub (like most things British but this is not 1000 years old)

Dingy, bathroom not well cleaned

The bed was comfortable..There was 24 hour security so I felt safe on the property...my complaints were heard by upper management and hopefully issues will be addressed...I was given a discounted rate after discussion
Breakfast could have been better, more hot options should be available....the staff Dawn told me my bathing suit attire was inappropriate (which it wasn't) for hotel as it is a "family" hotel....she was reported...I felt disrespected and discriminated against....staff opened my room door without knocking, I was caught off guard..I never received towels/toilet paper to my room although promised by staff...no refrigerator or microwave in room, it's an inconvenience to have to come to lobby to heat your food, constant bugs in the pool...

the tavern didn’t serve food at 9:45pm: the room hasn’t been made up; poor breakfast

Our family enjoyed the decor and amenities, it felt special. The room was clean and pleasant. The staff were wonderful and personal, I can see why guests return. We enjoyed a pint at the fox & hound after the kids went to bed, a welcome reward for parents.
The hallway lights were extremely dim, if you were visually impaired, it would be difficult to navigate. The floors were being redone in the main area, so the sounds of the fans made it difficult to enjoy the area.

The breakfast was delightful and delicious. This was one of the delightful parts of this adventure.
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful in the evening and again in the morning. Kudos to the staff.
The room seem to be only surface cleaned and not even that very well. There was a lot of dust on the furniture and baseboards and floors. The room needed a really good cleaning.Toilet and tub were clean however

The theme was cool throughout the lobby and hallways
The room I was put in was disgustingly dirty and in bad repair

Well received at the reception - staff were all friendly
Location is perfect
Bar was nice when it was open
Pool
Proximity to restaurants
The property seems a little neglected and could use some investment / felt old and not too clean in all areas
Main reason for booking was to take advantage of the pool but disappointed there is no bar and no music for the pool and main bar not open before 3pm
Breakfast is pretty lame - would be nice to have options to order from a menu

Trash was constantly full in public areas. Staff at front desk wasn’t super friendly (except Mick-he was great). We booked online through a 3rd party and the front desk seemed a bit unwilling to help with questions knowing that detail. Pool area not maintained. Breakfast area not maintained.

Okay, we were totally surprised by this hotel! We booked it because of the good price on a week day…not knowing about the decor, themed rooms or scavenger hunt! We were thoroughly surprised by how fun it was!
Our car top carrier was too tall for the parking garage so we couldn’t use the garage/elevators. We parked on the blacktop and getting inside was pretty easy from there, as well. The thing we disliked the most was that the hallways smelled of car exhaust BECAUSE of the elevators to the parking garage. So, in the end, we were glad we hadn’t contributed to that problem since we parked in the lot.

Love, love, love the decor! Bed and furnishings were super comfortable, and the proximity to the large park was fabulous!
breakfast could have been better.

The room was nice. Breakfast was excellent. 99% of the staff was excellent.
The pool wasn't open. We needed to get new room keys EVERY TIME we left the room...we were there for 4 nights. The late check in of 4PM was difficult and we couldn't check in early. I understand, but no possibility of exception is difficult to comprehend. One front desk staff woman was seriously rude(almost hostile) while EVERY other staff member throughout the hotel was absolutely wonderful. Somehow, when we finally were checked in, we weren't in the system, and another guest was also assigned to our room. It was a little disconcerting when he walked in, lol. Towels were a little tough to come by. The air conditioner needed to be reset, as it was seriously hot in the room. They seemed to know that immediately when I mentioned it, so that could have been mentioned upon check in. Overall, still very good.

The hallways are noisy.

Loved the room and your breakfast was delicious…. the bagels and fruit were so fresh. Ate at Basso one night and Fox and Hounds another night. Both were very good.
Service at Fox and Hounds was not good. You have to go to the bar to order and the bartenders were not friendly. Food was good but was disappointed with the service.

We love the British theme and name for each room. Very unique. When you step in to the Chesire you feel you have arrived in the 19th central England.
Hallway and room carpets are very dirty. The lights in the hallway and in front of the elevator are dark.

Good location.
It is filthy. The room was so dirty. There were wrappers on the floor, dust around the baseboards. Nasty!
