It was a beautiful property convenient to the university. The staff was great and the breakfast setting in the main dining room was much nicer than average.
The hotel suffered a little from the location across from the train station. If you like to leave the window open like we do, it’s a little noisy and the light from outside is too bright. Keep everything closed up and you’re fine!

Great location. Staff were friendly and professional.
Rooms could use updating . Restaurant was not up to par with the prices they were charging. The dinner meal was not as good as it was a few years ago. Food was slow to come out of the kitchen. Dessert was a real disappointment. I will say we had a great waiter. He was very attentive and professional. It’s just too bad the food was just average.

The hotel is 11 years old, as I was told. The bedroom was bright and airy, with large windows on two sides. Bathroom with tube/shower etc, very nicely appointed. Complimentary breakfast featured croissants, muffins, bacon/sausage?, fruits, yogurt, as well as juices, coffee & tea. The terrace outside is a lovely place to eat. The dinner menu was varied & interesting. We ate soup & appetizers, which were excellent. Wine excellent too. Staff helpful & patient with our questions. We definitely want to stay there again next year! Price is reasonable.

The staff, room and location
Shower needs to be updated for stronger and better flow, or even better a handheld shower. Though comfortable, the bed was a tad soft for us.

Location was as expected. Room was reasonably quiet for being a corner room in a downtown location. Beautiful building and we loved the historical photos displayed in the hallways and main floor sitting areas.
For us, breakfast was quite inadequate. The breakfast was high carb - pastries and some fruit. There were no gluten free options and very little protein. The "hot water" tasted like coffee and we were unable to get a decent cup of tea - not really what was expected for the price. It would be nice if somewhere in New England one could get a good cup of tea - try an old fashioned tea kettle where one could actually boil water. Eggs and turkey sausage would have made a huge difference... As to cleanliness, the elevator wasn't vacuumed the whole time we were there - two days. Other issues included burnt out light over sink, making bathroom really dark. We mentioned this at the front desk and were never contacted to arrange for replacing it - a 30 second job. The thermostat/heating unit did not work properly - had to set the temperature 5 degrees over current temperature to trigger the heater. Upon resetting thermostat to desired temperature the heat would not come on again. The front desk attendants overflowed with exuberance but lacked sincerity and follow through.
