The friendly welcome our host was very nice and available , the location and environment of the house like a hostel / hotel
The price is very high for the quality of the room
6.0
Communal kitchen was great and the room was spacious. Good location for exploring the volcano park.
It is run down and the sheets were not very clean. Also the communication with the manager was not very friendly. Information was clear but abrupt and focused on all the penalties if we didn't obey the rules. I also found it weird that although it was contactless the manager seemed to be on site but we never saw him.

Great location, quiet
No owner on site but could reach by phone

Loved the location, middle of the rainforest, lotsa birds and beautiful flowers.
Beds were a little stiff, but still slept well.

Location and price
Hot shower!
Horrible mattresses on both beds
Flimsy lock on bedroom door
Owner stayed in trailer
Honey bun for breakfast
One small towel

For this high price some fresh breakfast should be provided. Packaged oatmeal and small granola bars are very lame, we found fresh baked goods at the Farmer's Market thankfully!

Proximity to Hawaii Volvano National Park
Bed wasn't that comfortable

Great location; reasonable price; large, clean, comfortable room. Remote check-in was a little odd, but we met one of the co-owners the next day and he went out of his way to make sure our stay was comfortable. We stayed here so we could experience the lava at night and we were not disappointed.
Check-in requires PIN code which was no problem but other guest trying to access the property was confused.

The location to the Volcano park was good.
The road and entrance to the Inn were very overgrown , the parking space at the front of the Inn was not mowed and unkept. More spider webs at the entrance than are normal. The place looked abandoned except for 2 cars parked there. Once we gained entry to the Main what we thought was going to be the lobby , it was a kitchen dinning and computer room combination. We had to phone call someone to find the key to our room. The breakfast that was left in a basket on a table in the room had spoiled Papaya in it , and packets of instant oatmeal that appeared to be old as well, we did! None of the towels matched or were layer out in a professional manner. The soap for hands and showered were pump bottles not individual. No shampoo was even offered. The room was in sad condition looked in very bad need of paint. There were instructions all over staying don't take anything that wasn't yours out of the community refrigerator , you would be funded $100.00 if you didn't lock the sliding door when you left. It wasn't a pleasant stay to say the least.

A spatious room with a private lanai overlooking a rainforest. How can one go wrong? Our host Jon was gracious and kind.
Nothing.

Location and all the services they provided.
The place is very humid but that’s not their fault since this place rain most of the time.

Close to a volcano can't be a bad thing!

clean. deck off the room.
breakfast was really marginal. nothing to put on waffles. butter? jam? no milk ore 1/2 1/2 for coffee. when asked about milk we were told it is too expensive for them to offer. Jon hasn’t has milk in over a year because it is So expensive. I think for what we paid for one night it isn’t that expensive!

Delightful little 5-room B&B surrounded by jungle and 5 minutes' drive from Volcanoes National Park. Room was extremely spacious (largest hotel closet I have ever seen) and came with a balcony. Hotel was quiet, and the communal kitchen and dining space was well maintained and well equipped.
The first night was fine, but as the weather turned a bit colder and rainier, it got quite chilly in our room at night, even using the provided space heater and even though we brought some warmer clothing for our time in Volcano. The provided breakfast was quite minimal in variety and quantity, so if you weren't there early, the other guests had already eaten most everything provided. I suggest stocking up on your own breakfast ingredients before leaving Hilo or Kona, as it's slim pickings in Volcano and at the hotel.

Breakfast was DIY but adequate. Room was spacious and well laid out. Host, Jon, was friendly and welcoming.
TV use too difficult to figure out. Need instructions and user guide.

Best things: 1) it's very close to the Volcanoes National Park, 2) the rooms are super spacious, 3) I enjoyed waffles and cup of tea in the morning
due to COVID, no one was able to greet us when we arrived, so it was kinda creepy when i arrived.

The Volcano Forest In is a small quaint lodge located just outside the Volcanoes National Park entrance. The host Jon was quick to respond and made checking in and out easy. Room number 3 was spacious, clean and comfortable. It had a large patio door that opened to the front of the lodge and a spacious seating area. The room boasted a large closet and a bath shower combination. A bonus was access to the full kitchen and living area with a TV. Free breakfast was fabulous with home-made waffles, oatmeal, local fruits and hot tea and coffee. There was plenty of room in the shared fridge for our to-go containers.
Can't think of anything.

The Inn is definitely in the Forrest. It is a small Inn and is about a mile from the Volcano National Park. The room was big with 2 comfortable queen beds and a nice porch. You wake up in the morning with birds singing and surrounded by nature.
The road to the Inn is a small dirt road with no lights. Plan on arriving before dark the first night so you can find your way into the Inn. The entrance to the road is marked well.

Location, clean room, decent kitchen, friendly staff
A heater could have helped as it was winter.

Liked the place, little different. Never met the owner, lots of information notes to guide us,quiet, sleep well, beds great and never interacted with other guests.
Nothing I didn't like but it was a little off beat.

Our room was very spacious. The best thing about Volcano Forest Inn is the location. You are a 1.5 miles from Volcano National Park and a very short drive into the village. The restaurants are really good, and the vibe of the entire location is wonderful. Birds are abundant, and although we didn't have a chance to explore art or the winery, we loved everything about the location. The Inn was also very quiet, and the host was so nice and knowledgeable about the area. We used this location as a stopping off point to black sand beaches, waterfalls, Kailua-Kona, Mauna Kea, and Hilo. If you are staying for more than 3 days - this is a great spot! Coffee was great and breakfast always had fresh fruit.
I misread and thought there were refrigerators in the room. There are not, but there is a large one in the common kitchen.

big bedroom. forest feel
will be nice to have some boiled eggs at breakfast

The proximity of the inn to the park is ideal. Our room was clean and comfortable. Self check-in made arriving after 9PM very convenient. Breakfast was included. The host does provide a nice array of choices for a serve yourself meal, but it’s not anything fancy. Bagels, toast, watery waffle mix that needed to be tossed out, hard boiled eggs, just add water oatmeal packets, fresh fruits—enough to get you on the road to see the volcano and tide you over into lunch.
I thought the price we paid was a bit much—almost $200/night (with the cleaning fee).

Couldn't figure out how to divert the water from the tub faucet to the shower.

Location is absolutely the best! Everything as advertised Would have liked more choice, variety for breakfast rather than DYI.
TIP: Get up early to watch sunrise from Wahinekapu. Wow!
More amenities in room. Fridge could be better arranged to clearly show what belongs to who and what is freely available for guest use.

the location is good, very close to the volcano national park
this is not hotel, but airbnb style accommodation. The shared kitchen is not clean, and there are always dishes not cleaned. The road to the property is not paved, and you should be very careful such that the rented sedan is not hurt.

Proximity to Volcano NP
Asked to take off shoes before entering building. Breakfast is bare minimum: some random fruits, instant oat meal, pancake mix. A single lane mud road entrance into compound. Very few dining options around, most closed by 5.

The location is perfect, in the middle of the forest yet less than a minute from the main road and 3 minutes from the Volcano Natural Reserve.
The room is cozy and spacious. The common areas are well appointed and nothing is missing. The host Jonathan is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, he gave us very informative tips about the area and was always willing to help and make our stay easy and comfortable. A beautiful space we recommend, we will stay again.

The property is off the beaten path surrounded by forests. Very secluded and quiet. The rooms are basic but have everything one needs. Good choice of breakfast and a very helpful owner. Very easy check in. Lovely lanai to sit on and relax.

Location. Huge rooms
Towels never dried - but then again, it is a rain forest climate.

It was quiet and secluded, yet everything seemed to be right around the corner. Great restaurants, food trucks, and little grocery shops for necessities. Volcano National Park is down the road and across the street. And our host, Jon, was warm, professional, informative, and kind. Thank you for everything. Warmly, Penni💫
I only wish there were more rooms so I could bring a group of friends with me to retreat here. I felt lucky to have gotten one of the 4 comfortably furnished rooms. Thank you. Warmly, Penni💫

Location was great. 10 mins away from any point in the national park
I was charged extra twenty upon arrival for arriving late with exact same check in instructions, nowhere mentioned on the listing.
The room had no working heater. Nights at elevation are colder. This made the stay miserable. Towels were wet before we even used them, so much for the cleaning fee.
As soon as the review was posted the property retaliated with hundred dollar charge on my credit card.

I loved how the home was set back from the main road in Volcano Village. The owners were super sweet, and eager to please. There is plenty of parking and private entrances. I did not partake in Breakfast as I don't usually eat in the morning, but they seemed to have a great selection of fruits, cereal, and access to the kitchen/dining room. Owners were also very willing to talk story and gain knowledge on the volcano of which this Inn is located.
Being up at 4,000 ft it gets cold at night, a heater in the room would have been a major bonus. They did provide extra blankets, but I still got quite cold. Other than that, great stay!

The location is just outside of Volcanoes NP, the room was spacious, the beds were cozy, the breakfast was perfect!
