Exceptional

Booked for a night stay for a solo trip because I am attending a friend’s ceremony. They provide prayer mat for muslim but no telekung provided but its okay i brought my own. The rest house is pretty safe. A lot of solo tourists booked this place. Comfortable and everyone is very respectful and quiet throughout the night. Bed was comfy, shower was okay. And they have guest’s discount for the cafe downstairs so that’s a plus point. Good food also. And the staffs are super helpful and very friendly.

The bed was quite dusty kind of like… sandy.. a bit. Had to brush it off. Also one of the shower and toilet dont have lock. The dorm kinda smell humid.

DAS Hostel in Ipoh!

Tolle Lage, richtig nette Managerin/Eigentümerin und nettes Service-Personal. Die Betten sind bequem, die Zimmer angenehm gekühlt und es ist nachts dunkel. Die Aufenthaltsräume sind liebevoll gestaltet und laden zum Verweilen ein. Auch das Café bietet tolle Optionen, für Hostel-Gäste gibt es eine günstigere Menükarte. Eine unbedingte Empfehlung für Ipoh!

Bad accommodation. Don't be deceived by the photos

Only the location

Only accept cash, noisy neighbour, no staff before cafe open. creepy entry on the back door, lack of basic amenities. dirty and find roaches, no proper lock on bathroom, mouldy walls. just cannot understand the high ratings. But they use " environmental friendly" as an excuse. At least they should repaint the walls and clean the fabric above our beds it's full of spider webs and dust. Completely disgusting

Ipoh best Hostel!

Well located in the Old Town, with comfy beds, a silent female dorm and clean bathrooms. They have a cafe on the ground floor so you are also covered with food in case you need it.

The cafe is the only common space for the two dorms. Wifi could have a better sign in the dorms.

Enjoyed our stay! Beautiful building

It was a beautiful building, they have really tried to keep it as it was which is nice. The beds were sooo comfortable and we really liked the way it felt like you were in a tent. The room was a great size so had lots of space and the free toiletries were a bonus!

There’s not really any communal space other than the café so it was hard to hang out and meet people. There also not that flexible with the check in time so if you arrive before 3pm you’ll have to wait but that didn’t bother us too much as the food/drinks in the café were amazing so we just relaxed.

A lovely, calm stay!

This place was a total oasis of calm. It is NOT for someone looking for a party hostel. But everything in this hostel - from the beds, to the decor, to the thoughtful staff - is clearly done with care to make the best experience possible. Newton, William, and the other staff were always so kind and helpful. The bed is incredibly comfortable with lots of space in the women’s dorm.

Staff could be more friendly. Low quality bath accessories, noisy floor, not so upkept front entrance. But apart from that... Place is worthy stay for solos ... Rear entrance is beautiful.

Spacious & clean! Toiletries provided.

Near eateries & Concubine Lane. Staff pleasant & attentive. Newton was helpful & booked a grab car for me to the bus terminal for Cameron Highlands.

Traffic a bit disturbing for my night sleep although earplugs were provided.

A beautiful getaway from it all!!!

De Cafe & Resthouse was the best hostel ever in Malaysia that I’ve ever stayed in!!! Owner, Dawson, & his staff, Kalik, Kahi, William & Newton - amazing!!! they were always there for you, whatever your needs & inquiries, and they are very accommodating & helpful!!! I miss them, the high quality services they provided, and the beautifully refurbished 100-yr old building!!! It is a very clean & spacious boutique hostel, with only a 10-bed female dorm & same with the male dorm, each in different floor! It’s cafe/bistro has the best & food & reasonably priced! I had different fares everyday I was there & everything was divine! It’s in Old Town, a 10-minute walk to/from train station (bus station is a 20-minute Grab Taxi), close to all the restaurants, the shopping district of Concubine St, a few minutes walk to the Art Trail Streets, mosque, Riverfront walk & cafe, and the old British Colonial building are ubiquitous all over, though, in dire need of repairs. Night market and New Town is only a 10-minute walk. Grab taxi is sooo convenient to go to all the out of the city attractions like Mirror Lake, Kek Look Tong cave temple which is far more beautiful than Batu Caves. Miss everything about De Cafe & Resthouse!!! Thanks a million for an amazingly wonderful stay, Dawson & staff, & for being such a caring person!!!! I miss you all!!!

Sehr gute & zentrale Lage, sehr freundliche Mitarbeitende, gutes Konzept & schönes Café.

Im Dorm war es sehr feucht & obwohl nicht viele Betten besetzt waren, war das Bad eher schmutzig. Müsste evtl. öfter gereinigt werden.

Ein schöner Aufenthalt

Die betten waren sehr sauber, groß und gemütlich:) Außerdem hatten sie vorhänge und ein Moskitonetz oben. Die Duschen und Waschbecken waren ok sauber, das Café unten auch sehr schön. Der gastgeber war super freundlich und hilfsbereit!!

Die straße vor der Unterkunft kann nur überquert werden wenn man entweder sehr schnell oder lebensmüde ist (am besten beides)

Un emplacement et un accueil au top !

L'accueil au top ! L'équipe est très sympa et très arrangeante pour les réservations. Ils donnent de bons conseils des choses à voir, resto... L'emplacement est super, à proximité des jolies rues d'Ipoh , des commerces, resto...

Le dortoir des filles donne sur une rue passante, si comme moi vous êtes sensible au bruit, ça peut être gênant. D'autres filles du dortoir n'ont pas été gênées.

Great stay!

Very clean and comfortable bed. First hostel I’ve been to that provide some toiletries for free (dental floss, ear plugs, cotton swabs). Nice location close to most attraction of Ipoh. Super warm hospitality, with lots of suggestions on where to go.

Superb

The location is PERFECT! Also, the personal there is very kind and insightfull. Very safe place for women traveling alone as the staff is attentive to odd situations and will make sure with the girl (taking her aside) to see if she needs assistance or if she is ok.

A place that I will want to visit again

The surroundings were nice to explore. Eateries were wonderful n the prices were reasonable. The people I met were kind n ready to direct my path to the right places. Overall , my impression of Ipoh is that her people are good natured n polite. The place is worth a visit. It brings back memories of a long gone era.

Lovely vibe in and out

Centrally located with lots of small shops and cafe. The bunk beds are spacious and very much comfortable. Despite being in an old building, you don’t get bothered by it, rather quite the opposite as it is well maintained and has a charm to it. The host is very friendly and will make you feel like home.

Exceptional

The best shared space in Ipoh. Great location in the very center, can walk 3-5 minutes to a lot of cafes and to local shops and places. The staff is amazing and can help with anything. The first floor is a healthy cafe and a coworking space, great wifi and food. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the bunker gives privacy as well. Already been there 3 times, totally recommend it.
