Diego is definition of hospitality. He is passionate to share his knowledge of surrounding area and flora.
Serene/picturesque ranch belonging to Diego’s family for generations.
Horse experience offered by the host is a MUST. Tammy and Rocco the dogs are well trained and friendly.
Food was also tasty and reasonably priced.
He can also arrange transportation. Coffee and tea are available
If it had a pool I would never leave. Nothing

Don Diego and his wonderful staff made this the most perfect experience ever. My only complaint is that this was the first place I stayed at the beginning of my 2-month trip to Colombia, and nothing else could match the perfection and loveliness of Reserva Guadalajara. The domain is full of different birds and plants. You don't need to go anywhere, the beauty is just all around you. My corner room was amazing, with a double view on the garden. It was enough to just lie in bed and listen to the birds and the rain... Such peace, such joy... The shower, the bathroom, the bed, the linen, all perfect. There is plenty of room to put your personal belongings, the room is plenty big and there was even a desk so I could work. I also loved to work on the porch, with its view over the garden. Breakfast was varied, plentiful and delicious. I never had a better breakfast throughout my stay in the country. Lunch and dinner were less than perfect, but still filling.
Don Diego took me horseriding. It was my first time on a horse, but I felt super comfortable. The horse knew what he was doing, and the elegant, lively, pleasant Don Diego was always there with his wonderful conversation.
I went to explore La Carbonera with a friend of Don Diego's, Carlos Escobar Botero, and that was also an unforgettable experience.
It's cheap and easy to take a taxi to Salento or to Filandia. I walked to Salento once but there are too many cars, it's dangerous.
There are several beautiful walks around the lodging, with rivers and great trees.
My dream was to return there at the end of my trip, but it wasn't possible. I will always try to return. It was like a dream.
I'd like to find something to seem more credible - the trout was delicious but the other meals were less good. There, I found something less than perfect :))

The location was amazing. Surrounded by green mountains and tons of animals (dogs, horses, cows, etc). The staff makes you feel right at home. Diego and the rest of the crew are so friendly and welcoming. There’s delicious breakfast every morning that comes with the booking. They offer delicious lunch and dinner every day for a very reasonable price. The showers are nice and the rooms are cozy. They offer an amazing horseback tour. We rode horses across rivers and streams and deep into the mountains where Diego provided some history and information about the area. I 100% recommend this place to anyone thinking about going to Salento or Cocora Valley. I wish I would have been able to stay here longer. Great place to relax and unplug. Believe it or not, I think it’s also a great place to get some work done if you’re able to work remotely. I had to get some schoolwork out of the way and the front porch provided a great atmosphere for that.
Nothing I didn’t like about the property.

- The staff: Diego, Guillermo, Jorge and Yenni were absolutely lovely and caring. They did everything to accommodate and make my stay as smooth and peaceful as possible
- The location: 2Min by car outside of the center of Salento, the house lays in the middle of a field with many animals. The place is incredibly peaceful and quiet, a real haven of peace
- The activity: Diego organized a horseback ride on the reserve, I strongly recommend to do it. It is absolutely stunning and the horses are very peaceful and easy. 10/10

Our stay at Reserva Guadalajara was amazing. The team was extremely friendly and helpful. Our highlight however were the horse back rides! First we did the "regular" ride where Diego explained us a lot about the surrounding lands. Since we enjoyed it so much we decided to do another ride. This time we were chasing bulls from one hill to the other which was sooooo much fun! Would definitely come back!
All was really good! Just keep in mind that due to the conditions in the room, the clothes might get a little clammy.

Our stay at Reserva Guadalajara was the highlight of our holiday. We visited a few places around Colombia, and we wished we had stayed longer in this place. Very peaceful, comfortable beds, delicious food. Diego was extremely friendly and welcoming. Jenny looked after us with lots of care. Diego and his team treat the animals (horses, dogs, cows, etc) with lots of care and love. You can really tell how much care and respect their animals. The horseback ride was a beautiful experience. Diego has designed a route with stunning views. Even if you have never ridden a horse, they will make you feel at ease. We will be back for sure, and for longer!
Nothing. Can't think of anything I did not like.

Unforgettable experience in Diego’s reserva. We had the chance to go for a morning horse tour and this may be our best experience in Colombia out of time. Diego and all his team (special thanks to Yeni, Yessica and Sandra) are unbelievable and dedicated without forgetting the docs Choco, Rocco, and Tami!

It was an absolutely wonderful stay. The reserva is beautiful, surrounded by nature and close to the magical Valle de Cocorá. The staff was so friendly and I really felt taken care of. A big breakfast that was very delicious.
They really had tought about a lot of details that really make you feel good, feels like an absolute luxury in a real countryside place.
I also ate dinner for three nights, the fish in garlic sauce was especially delicious and one of the best plates I ate in Colombia. Sandra and Jeny are great cooks and very sweet people.
Don Diego is really a great host and makes you feel very welcome.
It was easy to move around with the taxis, that the people at reserva will kindly order for you when needed. They even helped me get a service for washing my clothes after getting all muddy in the nature!
It was also a safe area, felt comfortable moving around as a woman travelling alone.
I really couldn't recommend enough staying here, it was absolute peace during 5 days and I hope to go back one day.
Can't really think of anything I didn't like

Beautiful setting and so quiet. I think it would be better to have your own transport for getting around.

This is definitely the place to stay if you are looking for a quiet, comfortable place just outside Salento with amazing attention. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here - the room was comfortable and clean, the birdsong in the morning was beautiful, and the breakfast was delicious. Make sure to ask Don Diego about the horseback ride on the reserve. This was our highlight and we highly recommend it over other horseback tours in the area.
It is important to know that to go to Salento and come back, you will have to ask for a taxi as the reserve is about 3km outside the town. There is no easy other transport and the cost is 15,000cop per car (in Jan. 2023).
