There are not many lakefront places to rent in the Finger Lakes that either (a) are not truly lakefront because a road stands between you and the water, or (b) don't have a zillion steps down to the water. This cottage, at 37 Seneca Street in Dresden, is truly lakefront, with a lawn down to a pebbly beach and a dock. And there are only, I think, 11 easy steps down to the lawn -- perfect for older dogs and people. The Dresden location is perfect for visiting Geneva, Watkins Glen, Penn Yan and wineries on Keuka and on the west side of Seneca. The cottage itself is definitely not fancy; expect marks on the walls and some peeling wallpaper. But it has everything that really matters: a clean bathroom, good water pressure, air conditioning, comfortable beds. We would happily stay here again. Note that unfortunately the Mr. Twistee in Dresden has closed, but the FLX Wienery, which serves AMAZING hot dogs, burgers and milkshakes, is just 10-15 minutes down the road. All within easy walking distance are the Spotted Duck, with its wonderful ice cream; Seneca Stag Brewery (get the homemade peach jam to go); and the trailhead to the Keuka-Senaca Lake Outlet Trail.

There for the views, hiking, and lake activities. Nothing fancy with tiny bebrooms, but very clean and close to the water. Fire pit, hot tub, and lake access were the best parts!

First of all, the water views are incredible. Property sits right on Lake Seneca and there is plenty of nature to observe. Given the position of the cottage and views there are several windows that have broken seals and are foggy so these should be replaced to maximize the enjoyment of the view. Several windows didn't have screens so the ability to enjoy breezes and fresh air was compromised. The hot tub was a nice way to relax and unwind after a day of wine tasting and touring.

Just what we wanted

Nice place and the wine area is very nice

This sweet house on the water was perfect for our familys trip to see the eclipe near by. The rooms are small but the beds are comfortable! The set up outside was great, we enjoyed lots of time by the lake.

We had such a relaxing weekend that enabled us to recharge and reconnect.

We had an amazing time at this property for our anniversary. Everything was incredibly clean, and the house was adorably set up and warm for us upon our arrival. We’re already talking about booking this place again!

Small, clean and cozy cottage for a weekend away. Perfect location with beautiful views!

My boyfriend and I stayed here with our pup for a long New Years weekend and it was absolutely lovely. The cottage is clean, cozy, quiet, and perfectly located right on the lake. The views alone are worth the stay. Also conveniently located near many places to eat and drink as well as hiking trails. The host was also very responsive when we had a question while heading out. Definitely recommend!

The place was great, close to lots of wineries and was nice to relax in a hot tub after a day of wine touring.

Short getaway and this had what we needed! Beautiful views, location and of course hot tub. I would come back again.

Our stay had all the feels of a vintage lake retreat. Which was 100% what we wanted. It was very private and charming. The lake and fall views from the hot tub made it even better. The cottage was pristine and welcoming. Both bedrooms are very tiny but the view from the living area and deck, it makes up for it.
We would definitely consider this cottage for another Seneca Lake vacation.

This house was everything we hoped for! Quaint and inviting. Everything worked and was well stocked. Loved the hot tub under the stars!
4.5
Cozy cottage. Had everything we needed

Nice location right on the lake. Water was nice and clear but I would recommend water shoes or crocs as the bottom is rounded rocks. We’re able to get to watkins glen and Seneca state park in under a half hour. We had a great week stay.
4.5
This property is level with great water access which is rare on this lake. The cottage was clean with large seating area. The water front area was perfect for swimming.

This cottage was more rustic than we had envisioned with older, worn furniture. It was comfortable however, with a beautiful view of the Lake! It is situated next door to an operating Naval Compound with Naval equipment in the water, very near to our swimming area! In our swimming area, in shallow water, are what appeared to be many “sawed off” poles in the Lake bed that could be dangerous to children or anyone unsuspecting who may be snorkeling, swimming, or making a “ running dive “ into the water! The dock was missing it’s platform due to a storm that had bent the frame we were told , which made it impossible to do some fishing off of, as some were looking forward too! We enjoyed the hot tub ! We enjoyed our week there, but would not stay there again for reasons mentioned above! We felt it was over priced for the quality of the cottage and location!

The view was beautiful. Lake access was great. Very close to the wine trails. Overall we had a great time.

Nice enough place. Served its purpose reasonably well. We got in after dark and we’re gone touring most of Saturday. It would have been nice to have an extra hour before check out. Cleaning fee for a 36 hour stay for two people using one room was a bit high but I suspect this is standard. I’m glad we came. Thank you.

Loved the property...peaceful, relaxing, hot tub, serene lake, can't ask for anything more

The house is in a great spot to make it anywhere around Seneca Lake. While the furniture left quite a bit to be desired, the outdoor space and hot tub were great!!
4.5
What you see is what you get with this property. The house is small and simple, but the it also maximizes the beauty of the lake. Our stay was very enjoyable.

Lovely cottage right on the water. Very clean, location was great, and Pat was super responsive the whole time. The hot tub overlooking the lake made us never want to leave the property 😊
4.5
Very peaceful and relaxing, absolutely loved it.

Very cozy, wonderful views of the lake, hot tub was perfect every evening at sunset. As others have mentioned, yes the bedrooms are tiny, but it was perfect for just me and my husband to use one room to store our clothes and things on the bed, and use the other room to actually sleep in. The doors and floors are creaky, but that's not something that would make me say no to staying here - just a heads up in case one of you tries to sleep in longer than the other, it can be tricky haha. We both slept pretty great though! The location of the house is also great, we were a short drive from so many different wineries. Our favorites might be Anthony Road, Glenora (delicious restaurant there too), and Lakewood Vineyards. We would definitely consider staying here again!

Great 2 days off the grid!

We enjoyed our stay. It was quiet, relaxing and just what the family needed! The fire pit was a nice bonus. The cottage was clean and presented nicely. Had a great time!

My wife, daughter (<1) and our dog had a great time at the house. Dresden is mostly halfway up the west shore between Watkins Glen and Geneva. The closest town is Penn Yan however and you'll be able to find anything you need there. Restaurants, Groceries, etc. The house itself is cozy and right on the water. Our dog liked that the most. Bedrooms are on the smaller side with little room to walk around the bed. Not an issue for us but it could be for some others. This was the second time we've stayed at this house and will most likely in the future!

Gorgeous location, quaint, clean and easy check in. Hosts were lovely and available for questions.

Very nice location right on the lake. Relaxful getaway with cute accommodations. However beware of security deposit being kept. Plastic clips on hot tub lid were broken and entire security deposit was kept because we did not report it immediately upon checkin. Very disappointing after a lovely stay.

We had a great stay! The place was cozy and reminded me of a more stylish family cottage. Everything was very clean and the property was so quiet. Beautiful view of the lake, especially enjoyed from the hot tub. Would definitely stay again!

Right in the heart of Seneca Lake’s western wine trail, we could not have found a better place to stay. The house was clean and charming. Everything we needed was right there. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

The house is adorable and the views spectacular! Perfect for a long weekend with some friends !

House was perfect for us. Great location and amazing views.
4.5
Amazing view of the lake, the hot tub made the house, beds were comfortable, good size for a single couple on a weekend. The rooms are very tight and there were some cosmetic issues that didn't affect our stay such as some dated parts of the house, a heating vent in the middle of the floor between the hall and the living room, and a lack of direct heat to the bathroom. Lights we're on for us and the house heated up relatively fast once we turned it up. Nice overall but needs some quick fixes. Some paint and minor repairs could make it much nicer.

Clean property, right on the water with great views. Would highly recommend

Very nice views of Seneca lake. Nice hot tub, relaxing location and easy access to wineries in area.

The cottage has a pretty view of Seneca Lake. The cottage is pretty basic, rooms small, very few outlets, but has a super view. I sent two messages before check in day which were not returned including one asking if there was anything we should know about the home. The day of checkin, we got a response which included instructions on how to use the hot tub, which was broken and they knew it was broken. We picked this house because it was waterfront and had a hot tub. The owner made no apologies for the broken hot tub and wasn’t even very nice about it. Nothing was done to make up for the broken hot tub, not even a “we’re sorry about that”. I asked if they would refund us some of the cost but he wasn’t going to do that. Other things to note include ripped wallpaper, peeling paint and extremely tiny bedrooms where you have to turn sideways to get around the bed. The biggest issue though is attitude. Kindness and owning up to the flaws in the situation would have gone a long way. We did leave the home spotless and left a tip for the cleaning staff. The house was very clean.

It is very private. Very cozy.
