Nitty gritty detailed information:
THE HOME:
Situated on 3 wooded acres, our renovated, spacious home offers a peaceful place to escape and relax with your family and friends. We have done that many times and we would love for you to have the same wonderful experience! It's located on town maintained road (which basically means it's plowed in the winter and wide enough that you don't have to pull over for oncoming cars like many of the seasonal roads along the lake).
Our home features 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms (one bathroom includes a tub while the other two have showers). A spacious living room with flat screen TV, gas fireplace (perfect for most mornings in upstate NY!) and vaulted ceiling with a wall of windows. A separate family/game room features a separate flat screen tv and an air hockey table which we've witnessed first hand is fun for all ages! Our large eat-in kitchen with dining area for at least 8 and the large central island make it the perfect gathering spot as the heart of the home. You will enjoy meals here whether that means cooking with all the pots/pans or whether that means take-out as there's plenty of space for both! The fridge and dishwasher can make stowing away leftovers and dirty dishes a breeze. Our spacious deck with outdoor sectional and chaise lounge chairs has to be a highlight of the home too - perfect for lounging with a good book, a drink/snack or just watching the sunset over seasonal lake views while listening to nature. We have a non-heated āplunge poolā with its own deck, sun umbrella and deck chairs. The third "dining" deck with gas grill also lets you enjoy the outdoors with a separate outdoor dining table (with seating for 8). Each bedroom and bath is located on separate floors allowing for privacy while still being together. You and your guests will have ample space to park your cars/trucks/boats, etc! (For those interested, nearby Smith Park has a boat launch area for a nominal daily fee.) We recently installed a hot tub for guest use all year round!
We hope you'll feel pampered and comfortable in each bedroom. All our beds and pillows have mattress/pillow covers for hygiene and peace of mind. With clean linens and fluffy pillows, you'll find a king bed in the main floor bedroom and a queen bed in the lower level bedroom (for a total of 4 guests) - with the main floor bedroom having its own flat screen tv. Kids will LOVE the upstairs bedroom which features two fun āboatā beds that each include an additional trundle bed- loads of fun for family sleepovers. (We have found it is nice to tuck the kids away safely upstairs for the night while we continued a relaxing evening downstairs without having to worry if we were being too loud.) FYI, this bedroom is quite large and can accommodate a full size aerobed which is also available for use as an alternative in case a couple wanted to stay up there. All the bedrooms have blinds and/or curtains that block out the majority of sunlight that comes through the windows. The house can accommodate an additional 2 guests with the use of a queen sleeper sofa. We have enough linens and pillows for those too! It is located in the game room so there is nobody sharing a bedroom. Recently, we added a sliding barn boor so that this lower level sofabed area has some added privacy.
Whether you're staying for a week or a long weekend, we have tried to provide all of the conveniences of being at home without you having to bring anything! All of the below are provided:
ā¢ Clean linens (bath towels, pool towels, sheets, pillowcases, comforters/blankets)
ā¢ Ironing board, vacuum, hair dryer
ā¢ 4 Streaming TV's (2-Roku 2-FireTV w/ subscription to YouTubeTV and Disney+)
ā¢ STRONG Wifi and cell signals (no land line)
ā¢ Washer and dryer
ā¢ Fully equipped kitchen features pots, pans, utensils, plates, glasses, mugs, kitchen towels, toaster oven, blender, coffee maker and Keurig
ā¢ Central A/C and radiant heating
ā¢ Gas fireplace
ā¢ New stainless steel appliances
ā¢ Gas grill on deck (grill tools)
ā¢ Child-friendly conveniences available upon request: Pack n play, baby monitor (audio - not video!), high chair and 2 booster seats
The house is set on a large lot and an uber private location provides tranquility at all times of the day and night - with plenty of space to explore, run around and enjoy. You can hear an occasional jet ski but more often than not, this house nestled in the woods will make you feel like you're camping with all the comforts of a fully functional, temperature controlled home :)
THE AREA:
We feel our location in Hector is as good as it gets! More than 20 wineries, a handful of breweries and a few distilleries are just a short drive away, along with several delicious restaurants to fit everyoneās budget - from fine dining (Farm to table) to comfort food (pizza/burgers). Most offer beautiful views of the lake to enjoy while you sip/taste the best of the region. We would be happy to recommend some of our favorites to you!
From the house, itās a 5 minute walk (10 minutes with little ones or lesser mobility) down to the lake with direct access through Smith Park which borders our property. When in-season, the wade-in beach has lifeguards on duty, benches, grills and plenty of space to grab a nap, catch up on a book or splash around. As we've experienced ourselves with our kids, it is so much fun for kids to play with the pebbles and run in/out of the shallow water! For the braver souls, there is a dock to jump into the deeper water too! A quick drive to downtown Watkins Glen is where you'll find grocery stores, gas stations, banks, shopping, the raceway, Watkins Glen Gorge (amazing views and a great workout!), and Captain Billās lake cruises (really nicely run/operated). In short, there is plenty to do ā or do nothing at all! As if it's not obvious from the above, kids are welcome, and we can't forget to allow for our four legged dog friends either (limit of two dogs within pet fee)! (Sorry we are highly allergic to cats!) There is no smoking allowed in our home.

All ages in our group had a wonderful time. The house itself was exactly what we were looking for, clean and comfortable. There were many things to do in the area and easy to get to. It was great!

Our family loved this house! It was the cleanest pet friendly home we have ever rented, and the layout was perfect for our family of adult children and their partners, with each bedroom suite on a separate floor. There was plenty of common space inside and out, and we all loved having easy lake access along with the choice of staying poolside at the house. Being so close to many local wineries, the town of Watkins Glen, and minutes from honor-system farmstands and a fresh meat vending machine (!!) made dining in or out simple. Our hosts were very responsive, as well. We are looking forward to returning next summer!

Very Nice, well kept and well equipped home. Not close to lake and no view.

The house was easy to find and was pretty much central to everything up and down the Seneca Lake Wine/microbrewery Trail from Watkins Glen to Geneva. The house was very clean and looked just like the pictures on the website. As it was just the two of us plus a 13.5 year old dog (Matilda), we basically stayed on the main floor with one short game of air hockey just for kicks. The appliances were all in great shape with no issues at all. The furniture (indoor/outdoor) was very comfortable as well. One shortcoming was the bed in the master was very soft as compared to the firm mattress we have at home. The property is a work in progress as evidenced by the pallets and pallets of stone, slate and technoblock lining the driveway but once in place they will look great! The fire pit was a welcome addition and lit up quickly on the 2nd chilly night. Only dipped our toes in the pool on the last day but in the middle of the summer, we could see it getting a lot of use. Annie communicated with us really well and gave us a few suggestions as far as places to go eat/drink. I highly suggest Dano Haugier for a nice Viennese dinner, Two Goats Brewery and taking in a wood bat College baseball league game in Geneva or Elmira. Overall we had a very nice stay and would highly recommend staying here for a nice relaxing stay along Seneca Lake.

This house was perfect for our stay, a relaxing time in the woods but close to the lake. Itās a lovely setup and such a large space for a family or group of friends to enjoy!

This property has everything you need for a perfect getaway. House is even better in person, updated bathrooms so nice. Kitchen is very well stocked loved the hot tub!
Short walk to lake we stayed in April weather wasn't great but I can imagine using the lake in summer would be so convenient.
Downstairs area is awesome newly renovated loved the air hockey and darts. My only negative was main floor mattress very soft and lumpy.

Our stay was great. The house was in great condition and everything is labeled and easy to find so that you are not searching around for which switch controls what. Instructions are very detailed and easy to follow. You can see the lake from the hot tub and deck and there are great views of sunsets over Seneca lake. If we travel to the area again, we will likely be back!

We had a nice stay here and enjoyed cooking meals for our family of 5 in the spacious kitchen. A complimentary bottle of wine was a nice touch, thank you. We did the upper Watkins Gen gorge trail and enjoyed it. Caught and released a few fish, one off the nearby dock (Smith Park) and a couple others in a nearby stream. Hot tub was great and we played euker. Had a nice Easter dinner too. Lots of trees being moved around outside. We would like to see when all is done. Looks like it will be nice. We missed the fact we should have brought shampoo, etc. luckily one of us had enough to share. A good stay.

My fiancĆ© and I stayed there over Presidentsā Day weekend with our two dogs. It was a beautiful home in a great location. Very quiet and away from everything right on the lake but also within 5 minutes of a ton of breweries and wineries. Would definitely recommend to anyone the house was great we 3 floors and a bedroom on each floor, fun game area in the basement, hot tub and pool(in the summer) outside. Was the perfect weekend get away home and the house was very clean and canāt say enough about how convenient the location was. Right on the wine trail and close to breweries and the state park trails as well.

We loved our stay in Hector!! We had 3 separate couples traveling together and the layout of the house was ideal with each of us sleeping on a separate level. We especially loved the lake view from the main living area and deck, the well-equipped kitchen and the hot tub. The beach is a quick walk down the hill and there are many wineries within a few minute drive. Watkins Glen and the Corning Glass museum are an easy drive too. Overall we absolutely loved our stay and hope to do another family trip here again!

Great stay, great place! Close to activities and very responsive owners! Would stay again!

We had a wonderful time in the Seneca lake area staying at this property! The house was clean and appeared just as the listing described & photos showed. The decor is modern, but still with that woodsy/lakehouse vibe. There are so many amenities in the house that we didnāt even have an opportunity to use (it was just 2 adults & 2 dogs), but we did stay in & cook several meals and the kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils, etc which was so helpful!
The location canāt be beat - within minutes of multiple wineries and breweries, and a 15 minute drive to a grocery store for essentials. We walked to the lake to fish (no luck!) and watch the sunset several nights.
Annie & Gary were fantastic hosts and very communicative during the booking process and before our trip to provide suggestions and answer any questions we had.
We will definitely be back!

This house was very nice and comfortable.
The hot tub was definitely a bonus and location was very relaxing.

Absolutely loved this house. Extreme attention to detail and ample space. The main floor has a kitchen with everything you could need with plenty of seating- at the center island and the large table- and if the weather is nice- another large outdoor table. There is a lot of seating in the main room with a large tv and large windows to enjoy the beautiful view and a vaulted ceiling to add to the openness. The bedroom and updated bath off the main floor are great. The loft bedroom has a door which was great to have. The walkout lower level has a large area with plenty of seating, a television, air hockey table and plenty of board games if looking for extra activities. The stairs and floor have wonderful new berber carpeting. There is a full bathroom and bedroom on the lower level. The separate temperature controls for each area is great. Due to weather and time of year, we could not take advantage of the pool or fire pit but the hot tub was very nice. Also, plenty of outlets and lights. This place is a gem!

This is the second time we've stayed at this property. The owners are very thorough on expectations and you can easily tell they take a lot of pride in this property. There is a creek that's always fun to explore right across the street. The lake is a quick walk down the road and it's the perfect spot for winery and brewery tours. The house has everything you need to cook and all the amenities. The kids loved exploring the property, as did the dogs, and making smores at the camp fire.
The layout of the rooms was perfect for three couples, two with toddlers and one with two dogs. There is plenty to do around the property for those who aren't big on wineries/breweries.
The hot tub addition was a great way to relax after a long day of exploring and the sky view from the deck was gorgeous.

We were looking for a pet friendly house near Seneca Lake. And we found the perfect place! Beautiful location on 3 acres within 5 minute walk to Seneca Lake and Smith Park. Had a minor technical deficiency (on my part) that only took one call to Gary and he had me set with the TV's. Had another minor problem with the water heater which took one call to Annie and Gary had it fixed before we got back to the house that evening. A perfect place to relax and enjoy life!

Our family has been coming here for years and we always have a wonderful time. This year was no exception. The hot tub is a great addition.

Clean house with good space to accommodate a number of people with both indoor and outdoor activities for everyone. Itās located just off the winery trail and a short drive to Watkins Glen. It has everything you need for a nice time away. Property managers are prompt with communication.

Enjoyed our stay very much and appreciated all the amenities provided by the owners! House was nice and private, comfortable, and plenty of room to spread out for the five of us!! Checking in was a breeze as well and no problems at all with communication!

Perfect location for my bachelorette party! The house was great, and it was only a short distance away from the lake, beautiful waterfalls, Watkins Glen and many fantastic wineries! Thank you Gary and Annie for the wonderful stay!

We loved the private yard, hot tub, and three different floors with bedrooms and a bathroom on each. The game room was a plus for the kids and gave the adults a little quiet. The location was great to go to Watkins Glen, Corning, and Ithica. We rented a boat from Roy's on north end of the lake and enjoyed our drive through the cute towns. We would definitely recommend for families.

Had a fantastic relaxing week with our family. We try to stay on Seneca Lake annually and this was our first time at this location. The proximity to Watkins Glen and so many wineries is perfect. The house was clean, comfortable, and spacious enough so that 2 couples and a family of 3 could all spread out. We spent alot of time outside enjoying the pool, hot tub and the beautiful parklike setting. Thank you Annie and Gary for making your lovely home available to us!

Beautiful, clean property. Everything was perfect. We can't wait to return next year!

This property is beautifully maintained - clean and updated. We had a relaxing stay in a very peaceful setting. The only thing that could have made it better would be a better view of nearby Seneca Lake (which is obviously out of their control).
The property listing is accurate and the owners have thought of many things to make the stay more comfortable and easy for their guests. The set-up of the house is perfect for multiple families - there are sleeping quarters and a bathroom on every floor. The home was immaculate and no pest problems - which can be an issue near the lake. We would love to stay here again!

Annie was a fabulous host. We arrived earlier than planned and she graciously let us check in early. The house is wonderful! Our group was myself, my husband, my older brother, my niece her husband & 2 children, another niece with 6 year old twins. The pool and hot tub and huge deck was our happy place. There is a waterfall right across the street from the driveway (hike in a little way) well worth the effort! The kitchen had all the cookware you need to feed a tribe. We all would definitely love to come back. I highly recommend this gem. It is very close to Watkins Glen. Loads of hiking, cute shops and of course wineries and breweries.

Your lovely home on the lake was the perfect place for us to be together while mourning the loss of a dear woman. Everything was perfect. Thank you! Btw, the gift of the local wine was a great touch. With much appreciation. Kim, Mike, Anne and Ron

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. The beds (including the pull out couch!!) were comfortable. The house was very clean and well stocked with kitchen items, towels and games. Wonderful views! The house was secluded but in a great location on the lake. So many places to visit with such a short drive away. We loved to walk down to the lake from the house and watch the sun set. We enjoyed Idol Ridge-try the cheeky monkey tomato oil and Jerlando's for dinner. I can't wait to visit again! Thank you so much Annie and Gary!

It was was a wonderful stay in a beautiful house.

The property was great. Convenient location. Gave cleanliness a 3 because of one factor: the hot tub. My entire group developed hot tub folliculitis (diagnosed. Look it up) which results from a less than optimal maintenance of the hot tub. Everything else was great and would highly recommend despite the issues with the hot tub. Owners were prompt to communicate and very agreeable. Overall a pleasant experience and would stay here again.

The house was PERFECT! Had everything we needed. We spent the week cooking, watching tv, relaxing, LOVED the heated floors, by the way! You feel like you are really away from it all...but so much is so close! Thank you for a great vacation!

This was the perfect place to stay for our Winter break with our teenagers. The location was great and the hot tub was perfect for the snowy/icy weather we had! Communication with the owners was great. We enjoyed every aspect and wish we could have stayed longer. Will be staying here again!

Everything about this home is warm and welcoming. We were very comfortable and happy about the location (wineries, breweries, lakes, waterfalls, charming towns). Annie & Gary made it so easy and everything was as advertised.

What a great getaway. I stayed n the winter time. And you can see that in the summer there must be so much to do and lots of people probably stay near there as itās part of a campground. But in the winter itās like have the whole place to yourself. The cabin is so clean and has most everything you could possibly need. The owners were prompt in any questions I had. Great for families or couples.

Well equipped kitchen. Great for families. Close to many wineries and Watkins Glen. Looking forward to returning.

Annie and Gary were helpful and easy to communicate with! This place is a gem. The photos donāt do it justice with how much space there is. The hot tub is a great touch! We had an infant with us and the pack and play and high chair were awesome to already have there. The location of this place is very convenient. We will be back for sure!
