About this cottage rental
Mossy cobbles is a small shingled cottage-in-the-woods, with an exceptional seasonal garden. It sits next to the Fanno Creek Trail, a 4.5 mile walking and bicycling trail in the community of Garden Home. The path from the driveway is lined with automatic lights every night. Cozy warmth is provided by radiant heating in the exposed aggregate floor, and summers are air-conditioned. Every window looks out onto greenery.
The windowseat with integral reading lights is a wall of glass, lined with pillows and a lace privacy drape. It measures 28 x 86 inches and can sleep one adullt. The kitchen, fully outfitted for your culinary dallying, has quartz composite counters and casement windows looking out onto a Belgian cobblestone patio. The bathroom, tiled floor to ceiling, includes an Italian style walk-in shower, and both ceiling and hand-held shower heads. The upstairs loft has queen-size bed, an antique dresser, a desk, book case and clothes rod.
Note: There is a 20% discount for Mossy Cobbles guests who stay one month or more. For guests staying 31 days or longer, Washington County provides an exemption on its 9% transient lodging tax, but requires a standard Oregon rental contract. Please ask if you need clarification.
Portland has a nationally famous food scene with many James Beard awarded chefs, many who were attracted here due to the proximity of Oregon produce and wines, seafood, wild mushrooms and truffles. Portland cuisine came early to the farm to-table movement and the craft beer movement. Being just south of Seattle, the home of the flaghsip Starbuck's coffee shop, and with a similar rainy winter climate, we have many fine neighborhood coffee havens. Powell's City of Books in the Pearl District is a whole city block with multiple floors, and comes with a map available at the entrances, which is fitting for the city of the most avid readers in the country. There are concerts and plays going on almost every weekend, outdoors in the summer, with several annual waterfront festivals downtown, notably the Rose Festival in June. Portland has a temperate climate similar to England which fosters lovely public gardens and arguably the favorite hobby of its suburban residents. The Portland Japanese Garden, the LanSu Chinese Garden, the International Rose Test Garden in Washington Park, Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden and Elk Rock Garden are must-sees for garden lovers. The Oregon Zoo and OMSI with its IMAX theatre are favorites of children and those who bring them. The Blazers basketbal team and the Timbers and Thorns soccer teams have avid loyal followers; the Thorns have won the NWSL championship a record 3 times, the Blazers won the NBA chamionship once. At 5200 acres Forest Park next to downtown is one of the largest city parks in the US, showcasing a lovely Pacific Northwest ecosystem, creeks and 80 miles of trails.

Beautiful greenery and flowers all around you while relaxing on the front deck. Awesome trails behind the Cottage with flowers and giant pines. A very clean pleasant place to stay. The owner was very nice and accommodating. She surprised me with a recipe to take home and try, We really enjoyed our stay.

Over the 4 months my partner and I stayed here, we fell in love with the neighborhood, the nearby trail, the beautiful garden, and this cozy home. The location is perfect, feeling secluded but still close to the city. The kitchen was well-equipped, and the place had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Deborah is so welcoming and communicative and all-around an excellent host. If you are staying in the Portland area, we cannot recommend this place enough!

Very cozy and hidden, while also being right near all you need. My girlfriend and I stayed here for 5 nights and couldn’t have asked for a better location. It was the perfect size for the two of us and we had everything we needed right in the cottage. We even got engaged while we were on our trip, making this a vacation to remember. Thank you for everything!

Unclean Cottage
Upon arrival, the cottage has a lovely view of the gardens, walking trails and is darling. However, after further review of the cottage, it was dirty and in need of some cleaning. None of the dishes were clean (the owner said that she relies on the guests to make sure that dishes are clean). So when I wanted to wash the dishes I would use for dinner that evening, I looked around for a new, sealed sponge and couldn't find one. I immediately messaged the owner and she promptly brought me a wash cloth to wash dishes. I pulled out the blender and it had yucky caked on gooey stuff along the side and the coffee grinder had old coffee still inside the grinder. I found an old prune/fig on the floor under a cabinet in the kitchen with webs attached to it. There were spider webs all along the ceiling as well. Needless to say, the property wasn't COVID compliant and so we immediately contacted the owner who refunded us most of our money and we vacated the property.

Great place to stay for extended periods
I spent 6 weeks at Mossy Cottage. It was perfect for me- single traveler. Location was perfect and safe. Able to walk trail behind cottage, Deborah, the owner, was easy to connect with and very accommodating. I recommend this place

Something out of a storybook!
I stayed at Mossy Cobbles with my 7 month old daughter while vision a friend. The pictures do not do justice whatsoever to the beauty of this property! The landscape was like something out of a storybook. The home was adorable. It was cozy and quiet. It is equipped with everything you may need. I LOVED the rain shower. Comfy bed a soft sheets. Deborah had delicious coffee, oranges, cheese, and crackers waiting for us. Every detail was so thoughtful. I really hope I have a chance to stay here again in the future. It was just a dream! Deborah was a great and helpful host.

Best host experience
In the last ten years I stay almost exclusively in homeaway homes and I have to award Deborah the most thoughtful host award. She walked us through her charming guest house upon our arrival pointing out any unique quirks and all the thoughtful touches she built into the cottage were evident. She left us a delicious local coffee to try, some cheese and crackers and grapes, and an invitation to wander in her gorgeous gardens and visit her sweet chickens. A lovely experience !

Wonderful little house
The small house is in Deborah's garden, surrounded by trees and flowers, in a beautiful setting. It's at the end of a cul-de-sac, so very quiet. There's a running/biking trail behind the garden that leads to a square where you can find a restaurant, bars, shopping.
Deborah is a very welcoming host, she greeted us on arrival and prepared a welcoming present in the house, containing coffee, tea, crackers, and raspberries. She gave us total privacy during the week but was always reachable when needed.
The house is very comfortable and has a great shower. You can reach the city center in 15-20 minutes by car.
We had a wonderful time there, relaxing and seeing the sights. I would greatly recommend this place. Thank you for the amazing hospitality!

Cabin in the woods
We loved this property. It was clean and tucked away into the woods which made it special. We felt as if we were off in the forest for most of our time there. It is cozy and a great place to just relax and enjoy the calm and quiet. Owner is wonderful and very helpful. We would highly recommend her place to anyone interested in a great escape while surrounded by forest and fruit trees.

Magical
This place is nothing short of enchanted. We enjoyed our walks on the adjacent trail, exploring the gorgeous garden and admiring the fancy chickens. Falling asleep to the rain at night and waking up to the sun shining through the trees felt magical. Although it is in the city, we felt far away deep in the woods. The cottage is a model of efficient use of space and we loved the European style shower. The welcoming treats were a special touch.

Perfect Little Cottage
This cottage is in the perfect location in a wooded area on the outskirts of Portland. Away from the traffic but close enough for a quick trip to the city. I found this cottage amazing; the design is beautiful, well thought out and there was no space unused. Loved this place and may wish to stay again.

A magical spot for relaxation and nature
The Mossy Cobbles cottage is the perfect getaway. Deborah has it filled with everything you could need. The bed is cozy and super comfy. The kitchen is stocked with wonderful cookware, sharp knives, and a gas stove. The garden window seat with a view was my favorite place to chill, read, and have coffee. But her garden is over-the-top gorgeous—roses, jasmine, pear trees, ferns, clover, and a small stream— and we got to share it with her. Walking distance to grocery store, excellent Thai restaurant, and more. Loved the location and the fresh eggs we enjoyed from Michaela and Lucy right outside our door. Learned much from Deborah about raising chickens and making a garden thrive. Hope to visit again, hopefully for a longer stay next time.

Super cute but might need some “things”...
We really did like this place. Tucked back in an area of Beaverton that is close to downtown, Tigard, etc., but seems like your away from it all in the woods. It’s right off a walking/biking/running path that is frequently used.
Deborah provided coffee for the mornings and some welcome snacks which was a very nice touch after a long drive to Portland from home.
The cottage has little to no privacy. The walking path that looks over the curtains and into the loft so the only place to change is in the bathroom. Not that big of a deal 9 out of 10 times, but the bathroom is ADA accessible so has no shower stall so water goes everywhere and doesn’t drain quickly. Id recommend bringing shower sandals.
It lacked an iron and ironing board as this was a “work trip” for me while my wife was on “spring break” (teacher).
Other than a few smaller things we needed to side step, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Perfect little getaway.
Great small place to get some peace in the city. Easy access to everything in Portland, but the quiet of nature surrounds you. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to cook for yourself. The window seat is an amazing way to spend downtime just relaxing and being in the trees.
This cottage is definitely great for a couple or one person. The bed is very fluffy and warm. It was warm and cozy. The tv is tiny and their is a dvd player. I did not use them at all during my 20 day stay. Parking was easy there is a spot right in the driveway. The path at night is a little dark and you need to be careful especially when it rains it is slippery.
It was a great place to stay a hidden gem in the city.

Portland Stay
Loved the cottage, the best VRBO I've stayed at. The most like home! Clean, well fitted out, all the Kitchen/bath amenities provided. Deborah is polite and a special person. I wish I could stay longer :)
Highly recommend this VRBO

Tucked away from the city but easy to reach.
We had a great experience staying at the small cottage. It’s a beautiful place and very well appointed. The bed is very comfortable, it is in the loft upstairs so you will have to climb down stairs for any trips to the bathroom etc, but there are stair/floor lights and a nice sturdy handrail. The grounds are beautiful and the cabin backs up to a paved trail that you can walk or bike on. We found the location to be great for visiting Portland, wineries in Dundee, and Colombia River Gorge. There are also several good restaurants about 10-15 minutes away.
