We loved the Quirky Cottage for our family of 5. Perks included a great location super close to all of the restaurants & shops, having 3 bedrooms upstairs for the "kids" while parents stayed in the main floor bedroom, huge yard with fire pit for evening activities, and a fully loaded home with kitchen gear, outdoor toys, kids games, you name it. The host was super efficient and had great communication. We will certainly be back to this cozy gem!

Well located to beach and business area. Well stocked kitchen/ appliances. Ample clean linens, towels, even firewood for the excellent fire area w Adirondack chairs. Very cute decor in lake theme/ Americana . Decent gas grill. Bonus is Picnic Table outside Great laundry room, with lots of beach supplies like chairs, toys, yard games We never used TVs so idk about them.
Cons: mattresses in Queen and Double bed adult rooms weren’t great, only 1 bathroom, nice shower outside but NO PRIVACY FENCE which seems easy enough to install. Downstairs bed- head noticeably lower than foot- could he at least put wood blocks under the headboard???? The window ac unit in 1st floor bedroom produced warm air even on High

Property was very close to beach and downtown. Cleanliness of property could definitely be improved.

We had a great quick stay in Grand Haven at the Quirky Cottage! House was clean, had all needed items, and lots of extras like games, books and a pretty yard with chairs for relaxing!

Centrally located and cute

This house is in the PERFECT location. Walking, biking, or short drive to just about everything. Like other reviews said, the floors are super uneven with many small stairs, it was a bit nerve wracking with a very active 1.5 year old. That being said, with such a great location we were really only at the house for nap and bed time so it worked out just fine!
The host offers a lot of great amenities for kids and the whole house smelled and looked so clean. Really great stay!

Great place to stay. Close to beach and downtown.
Ample kitchenware cook!
Our two children loved it, ages 3 and 8.

We all had a great time. Just a couple blocks away from everything which was nice. Very hilly so you got a workout in walking everywhere but still close to everything. I would recommend to anyone i know planning a trip to Grand Haven.

So yes this house is a little weird and half of the floors are not even close to level but downtown Grand Haven is just a few blocks away and the beach is about a 20 min walk. We enjoyed our stay here and we would stay here again.
Upon arrival when we checked in the cleaning from the previous occupants had not been done. I messaged the property manager and they had a service come out very quickly but we did have to leave for a few hours while the cleaning people finished. Sounds like there was a miscommunication on when the cleaning service needed to arrive.

Clean and comfy, the outdoor shower was great for rinsing sandy kids!

We loved staying at the “Quirky Cottage”. It was a short walk to shopping, boardwalk, restaurants, and ice cream. We even walked to the pier. The neighbor was quiet and the yard was perfect for family. Definitely a cottage feel. We would stay again.

Location cannot be beat...we walked everywhere. You might want to bring a small wagon if you have little kids. House is cozy & clean. Tons of table games to play during down time. Beach toys provided. Kitchen is supplied well.
As mentioned in previous reviews, floors are not level and has multiple step ups and downs. The 70 yr olds in our group were able to adjust. Love the neighborhood full of historic homes. Had a great experience at the quirky cottage and will be back!

This cottage was awesome—full of character that a lot of conversations started around. The beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows!! The kitchen had everything we needed, we played a lot of the games that were there too! We had about 15 people join us for hamburgers on the grill one day and the yard was perfect for that group of people! Overall a very great place to stay and close enough to downtown Grand Haven that we could walk there!!

We enjoyed our stay. It was close to downtown. It sure lives up to its name Quirky! No level floors. One thing we missed was a toaster.

We stayed at the "Quirky Cottage" for a girls weekend get-a-way. We had a wonderful time! The location is very close to downtown, with quick drives to the social district, restaurants, shopping, and city beach. When we weren't out and about, we did cook some meals from home, utilized the firepit for s'mores, and enjoyed a board game or 2. If we had questions or issues, the owner was very quick and friendly to respond as well.
Having said all that, this house is an older home and there is a very prevalent slant or slope to the foundation. We were caught off balance a few times during our stay. No big deal, but if someone were to have balance/mobility issues already this could be a problem.
There was one thing that ended things on a low note. We woke up Saturday morning to mouse droppings on the kitchen table. We hadn't seen any mice, but we quickly messaged the owner and he offered to bring traps. Since we were heading out, I explained it was up to him and when we got back around dinner time I hadn't heard anything and he hadn't come. Later that night, we were enjoying a board game and a mouse/mice showed up. We obviously screamed, as girls do haha, and I messaged the owner that the mouse had appeared, and we were pretty shaken. He was kind enough to drive out with the traps that night, explained how they worked and installed them around the kitchen and pantry. He was very kind and even chatted with us a bit. The owner also offered for us to stay an additional night, if we wanted, to make up for the mouse situation. We declined; while it was kind to offer we needed to get back we weren't really looking to stay in a mouse house any longer.
After he left, we watched the mouse go from under the piano, to under the fridge, to the table and back to the piano. Then suddenly one popped up from under the couch. At this point it was late and, honestly, I had anxiety going to bed since I had the bedroom off the kitchen.
In the morning it was clear the traps had not worked (yet). There were droppings on the kitchen table again, chairs, floor, and on the nightstand of the bedroom. After that, we packed up and got out asap. I informed the owner of what we found that morning and he apologized once more and wished us safe travels.
I don't want to begrudge the property/owner, but the mouse really became a source of stress.

Great for families. Wonderful outside fire pit, picnic table, outdoor shower. We walked everywhere. Cute decor. Plenty of seating. Nice linens on the beds, not cheap microfiber. Beds were very comfy too.
Had a little snafu with the cleaner before our arrival but Tim was very gracious and even brought a fruit arrangement. This was our second time staying. We will be back for a third time!

Just right!
The Quirky Cottage lived up to its name and was perfect for us! The house is in a great location, close to town (walking distance). The QC was extremely clean, beds were comfortable, nice towels, very well equipped kitchen, plenty of seating (couch and two oversized chairs) in family room and in kitchen/dining areas. Outside is a large picnic table and firepit area with 6 sturdy Adirondack chairs. Driveway can accommodate 3 cars parked tandem.
As other reviewers have noted, the floor situation at the QC is a little tricky with little steps up and down going between rooms and the stairs are narrow and steep. This house is not suited for the very young, very old, or very drunk. :)
Overall this is a great property and we would stay here again without hesitation.

Our grandkids love the quirky cottage and want to come back every year. The decor is cozy and inviting. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to make our meals from the farmers' market offerings. Location cannot be beat. We walked everywhere including the beach, splash pad, and downtown shops/restaurants. The deep yard is great for kids to play safely...lawn and table games provided. Thanks Tim for sharing the quirky cottage with us. We had a wonderful time!

We had a wonderful time, it was just as expected. Very easy process & super nice neighbors, too!! We saw a family of deer every day. Beware most food places close by 9 🙃 but the pizza delivery place nearby had great wings!

Perfect location for accessing all Grand Haven and the Coast Guard Festival had to offer. Was very nice to be within walking distance of everything downtown. Plenty of room for my family of 6.

We had a great time at the Quirky Cottage; would return! Cute, old home; got used to slanted floors and multiple small steps up and down throughout the house, although six-foot husband hit head several times on low doorways. Loved the games and books and skylight and beach toys. Owners communicated well.
A few notes ... There were four rolls of TP in the house for the week, and since I don't live on the edge, we bought more. Had to purchase shampoo, also. There is a hook lock on the bathroom door, but it fell out of the soft door the first time we tried it, so we lived without it. There's a seemingly-dangerously loose floor plank in the master by the east window; we placed a light rocker over it to not step there. Enough good chairs at the fire pit - curious as to why two clearly broken ones were left there. We did need to sweep the back deck and clean the table the day we got there and every few days. There was a half drunk bottle of tea on the kitchen counter when we arrived at check in time and laundry in the washer and dryer. One bed didn't have a top sheet; found only a fitted sheet (in the dryer) so made that work. The outside trash was overflowing when we arrived and quite stinky. The inside trash can also had M&Ms stuck in between the lid and can. None of these inhibited our vacation, still had a great time.

Great landing spot for our family. Close to downtown and family. But this house has random steps on the main floor, steep steps to the second floor and uneven flooring overall. May not be an ideal stay for the young or the elderly. Definitely worth it for us!
