About this chalet rental
Chalet Robles provides the best of both worlds: Located between the majestic mountains and Grindelwald village, the chalet is set on picturesque walking trails in the alpine meadows, yet conveniently a stone's throw away from Bergstation Bort (1570 m.a.s.l.) on the Grindelwald Firstbahn cablecars.
The Chalet can comfortably accomodate up to 7 people. You can relax in a traditional, cosy, well equipped chalet where you can quickly feel at home. You can enjoy your meals on the wrap-round south facing terrace, with an outstanding panoramic view of the Jungfrau Region.
A range of trails for walkers of all abilities and fitness levels starts right outside the front door. The trails take you through pine forests, across river streams and along lakes.
In the summer you will have the area to yourself after the cable lift has closed for the day, and everyone has gone home. In winter you can step out on the ski slopes that run past the house!
During the holiday seasons there is also a restaurant and children's play area by the cable car station.
The chalet floods with warmth and light, taking in fantastic views from the kitchen, living areas and bedrooms.
Please note that the chalet is not situated in Grindelwald village itself. Access to Grindelwald village takes 20 minutes by cable car or auto car, or a 50 minute walking trail, downhill. Outside the operating hours of the cable lift, access to the chalet is only possible by car, but only in the Summer.

The chalet is lovely & the views are amazing! The owner communicates very well & responded quickly to issues we had. He had a friend call to help us with the dishwasher as we could not get it to work. We never could get it running, but not a big deal. We just did the old fashion way of hand washing! The road is a bit narrow & there were lots of tourist on Trottibikes, who were oblivious to there surroundings…need patience getting around them. All in all we would recommend this lovely place.

We had a wonderful 7 day stay. Great hikes from the chalet and easy access to the lifts to go up or down into town. The views are breathtaking and we found we did less excursions than we had planned as we were happy to enjoy the open veranda and incredible mountains. Grindelwald was busy but the peace offered with this higher up location was just want we were after. I highly recommend this one. We will be back!

Our stay was flawless - we woke to the mountains, fresh air and cow bells . Our. Host thought of our questions before we asked them . The house was fully stocked with everything you would expect. The car ride was much better than what we were expecting from prior reviews- completely paved no problems at all. We had a a wonderful time we found it easy to make this a base for visiting surrounding towns either by car or train / gondola - all very easy
Thank you Henri

This Chalet is beautifully located next to the gondola up to First. It has views of the Eiger from the deck. The chalet is well equipped; we were very grateful we could borrow hiking sticks since the airline lost our luggage!

Our family of 6 had a wonderful stay. The views were amazing. Grindelwald is a very busy tourist town but here you are secluded in a quiet mountain chalet staring at the Eiger. Amazing. The one down side is the narrow roads up the mountain shared with tourist scooters.

Chalet Robles was a very beautiful place to stay with the most breath-taking views all around. The chalet was very comfortable, home feeling atmosphere, in beautiful all wooden design, very well equipped and spacious.
We have enjoyed our breakfasts and suppers on the porch and did not know where to look first as at every angle the views were simply breath-taking with magnificent mountains on the horizon. We were extremely lucky with the weather enjoying five incredible days with blue sky, sun and no clouds. We did several easy to moderate hikes in the surrounding area around Grindelwald suitable for pensioners and post-long covid members of our group and enjoyed every moment.
Our host was very accommodating, helpful and welcoming.
We would absolutely love to come again.

The chalet is perfectly situated close to the gondolas that will take you to First or Grindelwald but also very quiet in the evening as hardly no one else lives in the area. It has an amazing view, contains everything you may need and is very comfortable.
We loved every moment there!

Chalet Robles was perfect for our family holiday, with our 3 teenage boys. We enjoyed every aspect of the chalet, the location, the facilities, and the cosy feel of the house. Henri was a great host, particularly answering questions before our stay. The drive up to the chalet was narrow and steep but once there it was idillic. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to explore the mountains in the day and return to cook, play cards and relax in the evening. Thank you Henri and family!

Our family of 4 found this charming chalet perfectly situated and well equipped for our weeklong summer stay. Location is ideal if you want a quiet spot with easy access to Grindelwald/Interlaken etc. Bort gondola station is 1 minute walk, and if you're comfortable with mountain driving (single track two way path) driving up is no problem (obtain permits - ask ahead).
Spectacular views of Mittelhorn, Shreckhorn and Eiger from windows and terrace. Dozens of great hikes right out the front door, or up the Gondola to start off from First.
Bort Berghaus has a delicious menu when you want to take a break from cooking in the nicely equipped kitchen. (As always with vacation rentals, if you cook, bring your own knives)
Owner was super helpful and responsive when VRBO app failed to deliver critical check-in infos.
Highly recommend if you want a quiet retreat away from the hubbub, with all services an easy 10 minute drive/gondola ride down the hill. Skiing here in winter must be equally spectacular.

Thanks again Henri for another super stay in Chalet Robles. We love the location, feels like we are alone on the mountain in the evening but so conveniently close to the gondola.
We literally did everything this trip - first flyer, first glider, new bouncy air bag at First, the mountain carts, rodelbahn, rafting, high line climbing .... a brilliant time, thanks for your organisation and hope to be back next year.

We loved our one week stay in this beautiful chalet. It was a perfect location for our hiking excursions each day. The chalet itself was very comfortable, with plenty of room for our family. We especially loved sitting on the terrace in the warm sun looking at the beautiful scenery. We often ate our meals on the terrace, as well.
Henri was a wonderful host. We hope to return someday!

We coulld not have selected a better place to spend our holildays. This house is place in an stunning enviroment. We will never forget the sunsets spent in the balcony looking at glaciars, green valleys and great mountains while having a beer&wine.
House was perfect. Clean and tidy, really confortable and equiped with all that you may need and more.
The place where it is has the perfect combination between intimacy and accessibility to near villages as it is also close to a Cable Car. A really peaceful place but well comunnicated. It also has 2 restaurants walking distance, just in case you feel like having dinner outside, and a beautiful playgroung made of wood where our children have spent fun moments.
We have been continiously in contact with the owner and his mother, and both have taken care we have all that we need and we were feeling perfect in their home. Very close and nice people.
House is better than pictures here show.
The area has full of any kind of activities. Imposible to get bored.
So yes, It is really an experience to spend some days in this house.
We have felt like home.
Very good choice for families with children but also for groups of friends.
I strongly recommend it !!

We enjoyed a lovely week in this comfortable and well-equipped chalet above Grindelwald. The location worked very well for us a family of 2 adults and 4 children and we enjoyed all the amenities available both near and far using our travel passes. We would definitely return.

Chalet Robles is unforgettable. I cannot even describe the breathtaking views we woke up to each day (even in bad weather). I wish I could add pictures to this review, as it would completely sell you!
The communication from Henri (as well as his sweet mother via phone while we were there) was outstanding. He's a very kind, gracious host and incredibly responsive from start to finish.
The chalet fit our family of 7 very well, with room for all to be comfy. We cooked meals there often and took advantage of the fondue set as well. We spent a lot of time on the patio, just soaking up the sun and views. It's pretty neat to watch the gondola run during the day. There are also cows all around, which my kids just loved.
While it is in the hills above Grindelwald, there are many things to do very close by - the scooter bikes, the downhill carts as well as a few others that are easily accessible using the Bort station that is literally at your feet. One of our favorites was the park - not only was my 3 year old obsessed with playing there, the scenery (and in turn, the incredible pictures of him playing) is just breathtaking. We go to parks all over the world and this one was definitely our favorite!
Only a few small negatives that are worth mentioning - When we arrived, the chateau was completely dark and closed up (no shutters open, no welcome, etc). I was worried for a split second I had made the wrong choice. BUT, once we popped the windows open and let the light in, it was easy to see what a lovely, clean home we had come to. The driveway is just very tall grass, so when wet it is a bit unpleasant to walk on from the car, but that's a small aside. The hot water only works up until a certain amount used, so we had to alternate showers each day. We managed and it was okay. The wifi is iffy, but if you're coming here to be on your phone/computer, you're in the wrong spot! And possibly the only thing that actually really bothered us on this stay - the drive up to the chalet. It's a long, winding, one lane, tiny road that technically really isn't much of a road, very tight fit. That in itself was uncomfortable, but what made it worse was the people on the scooter bikes. They are everywhere, all day until the evening. Some don't move out of the way, some kind of do, but having to stop every few minutes (and not kill anyone) was stressful.
The positives FAR outweigh any negatives, and I definitely would stay again. This home is fantastic!!!

Our family really enjoyed our stay in this family chalet, it was immaculate, with all the home from home amenities. The layout of the chalet was perfect for our two adult boys who came with us. The views from the supper table were amazing, there was a great balcony and the ski lifts were only a short walk away. We got a pass from the very useful tourist information office in Grindelwald as this allowed us to travel to many locations by lift, train and bus.
Grindelwald is busy with a lot going on and it was nice to retreat to the Chalet of an evening. The local Bort restaurant is very good, highly recommended. Grindelwald is a place to access a lot of must do things - we went by train to the top of the Jungfrau and stepped out onto snow, we had thick snow ontop of the Mannilichen-a favourite place and snow in August at the beautiful lake Bachesee. We saw lots of wildlife - a highlight on the Marmot trail were three baby ones.
The chalet is positioned quite high up the mountain so this should be anticipated but you don't need your car to access most of the activities which is really quite relaxing.
A lovely holiday. Thanks to the family for letting us stay and being good at sharing information and answering queries.

Very cozy place; a gondola ride from grindelwald .. its about 10 minutes , after 6 the cablecar stops in the summer. Then the playground just below is all yours. A small hike up you can bbq by a stream. Older kids enjoyed the scooter ride & step ride downhill. A minor was the internet connection was limited /slow . The house has all for those who like to cook which we really liked as many rentals come with the bare minimum. We also really enjoyed the gletcher slucht visit very close to grindelwald ; 10 min bus from first station. Great place !

Stunning location. This beautiful home was cozy and fit our family of six very comfortably. Many outdoor activities just outside the front door- hiking trails pass the home. Short lift ride to center city. Nice restaurant 200 meters away. Will be returning to this home again.

The chalet was an ideal place for us to spend our ski vacation. It is located in the "First" ski area, which is the smaller of the two ski areas in Grindelwald, but that side of the valley is in the sun all day long. The chalet is located directly in the ski resort, very close to the cable car station. For ski hungry kids, who wante to be the first on the slopes, this was ideal. And it was just perfect to ski down literally in front of the door. However, once the cable cars finish around 4:15, then there's no way to get down to the town or up again (unless you walk). For us, this was a plus. Sitting outside in the cold, looking at the stars, seeing a fox crossing the path in front of the house, all that was an additional asset. And if you wish to walk, there's a winter walk just outside the door that takes you through the woods or up the mountain. The chalet is quite charming, is equipped with everything that's needed and in good shape, despite the age of its interior. It's clearly a family home so you should not mind the personal book shelf and some family pictures. There's a living room, a veranda with a view of the Eiger Nordwand, Wetterhorn and Schreckhorn, a sizeable kitchen, a table for 8 ideal for playing games, good mattresses on the beds (including heating for the bed), two showers/restrooms. For us it was ideal, and I would not hesitate to come back. You just need to get organised when you arrive to get your luggage and food for the week up. But the staff at the cable car is very helpful and will assist you. So, clearly a recommended vacation home.
