About this cottage rental
You will not find a better location in the whole of Bridport! Very quietly situated in a 'no through' road just off East Street. This stone built terraced cottage is 5 mins walk to Bucky Doo Sq where there is live music on Saturday market days. Bridport is situated on the River Brit and was originally a port. It was known for its rope and net making and many of the alleyways and twittens originate because of the need to lay out the rope and nets. Situated only 1.5m from stunning Jurassic coast (fantastic fossil hunting) and West Bay (location of Broadchurch). You may bump into local celebrities (Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Martin Clunes, PJHarvey, Billy Bragg and others) plus London celebs who come to support events at the Electric Palace, where groups regularly play in the revived Art Deco cinema. There is also the Arts Centre hosting an eclectic range of art exhibitions, films and entertainment. Annual events include Food & Beer Festival, Literary Festival, Hat Festival & Open Art Studio week. St Michaels Trading Estate (behind South Street) has a Vintage & Retro Fair one Sunday in every month and Bridport market (stalls along East St, West St, South St and many side roads) is buzzing every Wednesday and Saturday. Bridport has a reputation as The centre for 'foodies' in the South West with it’s amazing range of eateries to suit all tastes and nationalities. West Bay is within walking distance (1.5 miles) and has fabulous beaches, very good restaurants - (try The Rise, Station Kitchen, Watch House) - and a 3 storey warehouse 'The Custom House' of vintage goods, local produce, bric a brac and clothes situated right on the beach. Choice of eateries is from sophisticated fine dining to colourful beach huts for take aways.

This lovely cottage is minutes away from the centre of Bridport. The self catering property has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. The house was imaculate, very clean. After a busy day, it was the perfect place to relax in the evening. We left something at the property and Penny , very kindly, offered to post it to us.
We would love to stay again.

Lovely little cottage, but the most ‘lived in’ Vbro/Abnb place we have ever stayed in. It’s clean and tidy and well located, easy access to restaurants and shops and ideally located to explore the famous Jurassic Coast. The cottage had most things we needed for our short stay. Parking is however the biggest issue with this property as there is only one hours parking allowed outside the property as it’s permit holders only (no permit left for guests to use) and then it’s a case of hunt a space (there were literally none when we arrived and my husband spent a long time driving around trying to find one. Details say park in the carpark in Bridport, but we did not want to leave our newish car in a public carpark over a weekend, especially NYE weekend. The internet service is also very poor and travelling with a family who all have devices meant no one could actually download a webpage. There is also a Ring doorbell camera/light outside the property entrance, which although for security I’m sure is great, but as guests, it very much feels as though your comings and goings are being monitored. In addition, a sign saying on leaving can you strip all the beds (something I have done in every property I’ve stayed in without being asked) asked so blatantly when you’re paying a considerable cleaning fee does not sit that comfortably.

Back again and just as enjoyable and cottage just as clean. Also blessed by the superb late heat wave. - spent most of our time at The Hive Beach, followed up by munching our way through the local eateries in Bridport. Happy times! Thank you!

We had a short stay in bridport. The location of this property was perfect. Walking distance to the high street with lots of pubs and places to eat. Cottage was very cosy, comfortable and very clean. Parking was a bit of a struggle due to the time of year but this was communicated to us via the hosts once we had booked. Overall great stay and would definatly stay again 😊

We had a wonderful few days here. The house is a couple of minutes walk from Bridport town centre. It has everything you need, and the garden is a peaceful and beautiful spot (much bigger than it looked online)

We returned to this lovely cottage one again and our stay was perfect. The cottage is cosy and very neat and well appointed. Lovely spacious bathroom and bedrooms and beds all very comfortable. We were able to spend time sitting in the lovely cottage garden amongst the blue bells and. The cottage is in the centre of Bridport within a few steps of the town centre but in a back street which is very quiet with no passing traffic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return again.

We had a lovely time here over Easter weekend. The cottage was very comfortable and cosy and perfectly placed in Bridport for wandering around and soaking up the atmosphere. The garden was also so pretty and much bigger than we’d expected.

A Cosy little cottage. Lovely garden
For older people . Shower over bath. No handrail
Steep narrow stairs .
Lots of rules posted everywhere. Not relaxing. Some conflicting. Eg. Leave windows open. Leave windows closed.
No soap for the shower. A small inconvenience for travelers
Pepper grinder broken. No salt shaker
Stingy wine glasses.
Certainly not a welcoming experience.

Something must be good for us to return a third time! Albeit tinged with sadness as The Queen died on our way down. Cottage has had a facelift and retains its cosiness and cleanliness. Had a lovely time “just being” so we still have loads more to do on another trip. A perfect base for daytrips and enjoying local eateries. Thank you!

Very close to local shops. Local market on Wednesday and Saturdays also very good. Cottage has all that you need for a few days stay. Many beaches close by. Very good bus service, really no need to use car.

Perfect location in a lovely town
This is a lovely, quirky cottage. It was well equipped and the beds were comfortable and clean, although a couple of the towels smelled as though they had been stored whilst damp.
However, it wasn't as comfortable as it might have been because the sofa sags badly, and the loft bedroom needs proper curtains to keep out the light. In addition, it would benefit from being re-decorated.
Despite this, we did enjoy our stay and it wouldn't take much to bring this up to a much higher standard.

Accomodation
We love old cottages but do like a more accurate idea of the property. The info did not state that one bedroom is up 2 flights of stairs to the attic. Lower staircase wooden, shiny and steep and not one to do without concentrating when you're of the older age group..(we're in our 60s) . Upper staircase carpeted and felt alot safer carrying suitcases bags etc. Shared access and first part of garden not divided so tried not to disturb the neighbour....who was actually very friendly and tolerant of us tripping in and out to a beautiful secluded main garden. Location just 100m or so to the High St was exactly what we wanted this time and the nearby pub was always suddenly quiet at 11pm and not too noisy anyway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The location is superb - there are plenty of decent pubs and yummy restaurants within short walking distance. We spent lots of time at the beach (Burton Bradstock) which was beautiful and just a 10 minute drive away. The house was very well equipped (we made a couple of homemade meals and had everything needed!) and the beds are super comfy. Quick and easy communication with the hosts too. Can’t recommend highly enough - great house, great location, great hosts. Thanks for such a great stay!

A great place to stay
A lovely property, full of character and it had everything we wanted. Comfy beds, well equipped. Loved the garden which was a sunny spot for coffee. Quiet even though you are in Bridport. The property is close to all the restaurants and shops as they are just around the corner, an easy walk. As previously noted by others we found it easy to park on the streets near the property.

Nice little place , great position for Bridport area. Parking can be a challenge, need to download the local parking app it works across Dorset. We enjoyed our stay. Would suggest the property is ready for an end of season refresh.

Easy access to all the beaches and hot spots in the area Bridport is lovely and has anything you might need. The house is a great base and ticks all the boxes - although the stairs are a bit tricky for an 85 year old. That said they were still manageable. Great value in a fab spot.
