THE SPACE
The Clarkdale Lodge is an historic building that was built in 1914 and originally used as a boarding house for unmarried employees of the local copper smelter. It was subsequently converted into apartments which we are now modernizing to a high standard while preserving historic details where possible. All apartments are tastefully furnished and have HDTV's in both sitting and bedrooms. High speed Internet access is provided throughout via WiFi, and kitchens are fully equipped and ready to use.
The deck you see in the photos is a large shared area accessed from the upstairs hall. It has gorgeous views and makes a perfect place to sit and have a glass of wine in the early evenings. There is a shaded patio area underneath it on the ground floor for when the weather is too warm to sit in the sun.
GUEST ACCESS
In addition to the apartment you are staying in, all guests have access to a public sitting area upstairs stocked with books and games, and a second story view deck overlooking the Verde Valley.
NEIGHBORHOOD
Only a 10 minute drive to historic (and happening) towns of Jerome, Old Town Cottonwood, and red rocks of Sedona, Clarkdale itself offers the Verde Canyon Railroad, river rafting, wine tasting, restaurants, neighborhood bars, a bakery/cafe, and museums!

The Clarkdale Lodge was in a great location to get to the attractions we wanted to get visit. The place itself was a bit overpriced for what was offered. The second bed did not have sheets, so we contacted the owner and left a message on their phone as well as email. We didn't get those until the next day. (Typically, extra sheets, pillows, blankets can be found in a closet.) There was no instruction sheet that would have been nice as the light switches were either difficult to find or not working as would be expected. It also would have been nice to have a list of good restaurants, interesting places nearby, closest grocery stores, etc.

Old building. Has some very drafty windows. Had unfortunate unusual snow storms during our stay.
Glad we were given heads up about hot water. Needing to run for long time before it got hot. Which in dry climate seemed very wasteful.
Overall worked for our needs.

We have stayed at about a dozen places in/around verde valley - for us, this was the best spot, for a few reasons
1. Location - access to valley, Sedona, Jerome with beautiful view, accessible parking and nearby park
2. Space - nice spacious and functional suite, (traveling with dogs) with comfortable furniture for end of day relaxing
3. Simple, functional kitchen for eating in and relaxing slower pace to the day, snacks? Happy hour? Breakfast or dinner in? No problem
4. Price - all of this for the best price in the area, no crazy additional fees, and great value. Not trying to be something it’s not.
And communication to the owners/managers very timely and easy. We had to change the original dates we reserved, quick and easy.
While we were there, we made a phone call and they were able to come over and help us, ultimately we sorted it out on our own but was appreciative of the accessibility!
Thank you for the great stay!

The location was perfect! The history was amazing. We love the small town atmosphere.
We had a great time at the fourth of July pancake breakfast. The whole town participated.
We went to Jerome and that was great.
Also went to the ghost town which was so amazing and unbelievable the amount of stuff to look at see and hear the history behind.
We took the train ride as well. Beautiful scenery. Everywhere you look the scenery is spectacular in the verde valley.
Clarksdale is one of our favorite quaint towns

Cute and cozy as well as quiet apartment!
Loved this apartment. Perfect for our winery tour weekend. Great location to all the wineries in Jerome, Old cottonwood, and cottonwood! Would definitely stay again. Loved the historical feature of this apartment.

Great spot and nice little apartment!
The apartment is very nice, roomy, and was very clean. My only complaint is concerning communication with the host. I messaged them several days in advance to get check-in info and they didn’t get back to me until the morning of my check-in. I also messaged them during my stay to see if they could provide more toilet paper and never got a reply.
So, if you feel no need to communicate with the host, this is an absolutely wonderful place!

The apartment was almost spotless. Just what I needed to see. The furniture was very nice and the apartment was decorated nicely. It was so quiet and relaxing. Only small problem I had was that i was on the bottom floor and i could hear the people upstairs walking and being somewhat noisy. Pretty common with an older building. Would highly recommend!

Bike Trip
We did most of our bike riding in Sedona, but we preferred staying in quiet Clarkdale. Cottonwood & Jerome, just a few miles away was perfect for dining & shopping. Our dog loved the park next door. The property was perfect for our needs and the price was right!

Good place but needs some maintenance.
Because there was not entry lights, when I came back at night I tripped on the steps and fell in the bushes. Although this place was sufficiently provided, some things didn't work - light over stove, lamp in living room & no entry light which is a safety issue. The host should have spent some time with us to go over the unit before they left. I only note the above so that the next guests have a better experience.

This was a convenient location for me, as I have family in Clarkdale. Its right across the street from a Beautiful Park, Very Quiet, and the price was right!

We will be back!!
Very clean and comfortable! Great views on the communal porch. Enjoyed having the little kitchen to cook and loved being so close to Cottonwood. Also loved the Smelter Town Brewery that took 2 minutes to walk to. Will definitely go back.

Very clean. Great location.
Only thing I would recommend would be blinds for the windows. Curtains cover the air condition units. Wanted to cover windows at night since it was ground floor

Wonderful place to stay
We had such a nice 2 week stay. We didn’t want to leave, in fact we tried to book again in May for another stay but were unable to because it was reserved. Cery quaint old building, very neat and well furnished. There was a shortage of sharo knives though, would have been nice to have a set of knives we did alot of our own cooking there.
Perfect location. Plenty of parking, lots of beautiful wild flowers. Walking distance to a cute little restaurant and local brewery.
A beautiful public park right across the street, our dogs loved it, lots of green grass for them to walk on.
The bed was very comfortable and the bath towels were very soft.
We will be back.

Clean, Spacious, central
We had a pleasant time. Temps were very high and the unit was comfortably cool. Nice location in between Prescott and Sedona. Everything needed for a nice stay

Knowing that you get what you pay for, we like staying at the Clarkdale Lodge. It's not fancy or modern, but it is clean, quiet, comfortable, and convenient for our purposes. We appreciate the coffee and half-and-half in the room. The air conditioners (3 in our unit) are not quite up to the task of cooling when it's warm outside and are noisy. We've never stayed here when it's cold outside so we don't know how the heat works. Thanks for another good stay. We'll be back.

Map took me to wrong placr
I put the address in my map and I ended up first in clarkdale but noticed it took me to the wrong address. Reented the address and it took me to a place off 11 street in cottonwood, az. Got so frustrated due it the place being an apartment building on a dirt road. Tried calling the property people but only got the machine. Left a message with no return call . All this took an hour by the rim we finally found the right place it was 10 pm. The place we nice inside and clean. I feel I need a discount due to my friend did not get the full clarkdale experiences and the fact it took us an hour to find the place.

Beautiful, clean and cozy!
This apartment was a lovely place to stay. Nice and clean. Nicely decorated. The beds were super comfortable and had extra sheets (that were in clean plastic bins) for if you had more than the 2 people that fit in the bedroom. The essentials were in the apt (shampoo conditioner, body wash, dishwashing fluid, sponge, toilet paper, paper towels, salt, pepper, hot sauce and a few other things. Location was great. A few feet away there’s a Mexican restaurant (closes by 9M, though). The town is small and quaint. I’d stay here again, given the opportunity.

Clarkdale Lodge is a great home away from home!
We spent nine days from the last week of October into early November staying in a great apartment at the Clarkdale Lodge. Our apartment was spacious with a very nice bathroom, a comfortable king size bed, and it was very clean and well equipped for a pleasant stay. Clarkdale is an interesting, quiet, historic, and scenic community and we enjoyed having the Clarkdale Lodge as our home base for exploring sites around the area, such as the Clarkdale Museum, Tuzigoot National Monument, Montezuma’s Well and Castle National Monuments, Jerome, Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, Prescott, and the Verde Canyon Railroad. We enjoyed walking in Upper Clarkdale, ate at several of the local restaurants, and particularly recommend breakfast at Charlotte’s which is just a couple of blocks from the Lodge. The deck of the Clarkdale Lodge is a great place to relax and watch the stars in the evening or a distant thunderstorm off to the northwest in late afternoon. The lobby has a great assortment of books and magazines to read as well as board games to play if you want a change from watching television in the evening. The owners of the Lodge were very helpful when needed and we hope to make a return visit soon. Clarkdale Lodge is a great place to stay!

Quaint and efficient
This unit is like a small apartment with just about everything you need. It's not new or elegant but worth the value. Best thing--very nice thick towels! The manager was johnny-on-the-spot when we encountered a small plumbing problem and was extremely nice and helpful. We often go to Clarkville to see relatives and will absolutely again choose the Clarkville Lodge for our next trip. It's cheaper than the places in Old Town Cottonwood and so much nicer than the comparably priced Best Western.

A gem amongst a small inventory of quality hotel rooms
As the Verde Valley has a small inventory of quality/boutique hotel rooms Clarkdale Lodge offers quality rooms at a competitive price point. Being a short distance from DT Cottonwood and Jerome is a minor inconvenience that is easily overcome.

Quiet and quaint!
This place was perfect for our family. It was quiet . We had everything we needed. The town is quiet and small. We are definitely returning!
