About this villa rental
Villa El Gallo is located in La Herradura bay on the Punta de la Mona with exceptional views of the beach, village and mountains and good access to the N340 motorway. This luxury, five bedroom villa is situated in a beautiful, quiet complex of detached properties, approached by a secure, gated entrance with lovely pine woodlands. It affords magnificent and quite exceptional sea views over the bay of La Herradura with a backdrop of the mountains beyond. Stunning sun-sets and spectacular views across the bay are just part of the charm of this villa. The south-facing gardens are an ideal place to soak up the last of the sun at the end of the day, with a glass of wine as you relax and unwind on your holiday. La Herradura is one of the few remaining un-spoilt villages on the Costa Tropical, that can offer a truly Spanish experience in a wonderful, tranquil environment. The town is situated on the beach road with many outside bars and restaurants offering first rate food.

Fabulous villa up in the hills with amazing views. Very well equipped and as described on the website. The pool was great. Excellent information provided by the rental company and at the villa. The hills can be challenging if you’re not fit and mobile a car is recommended. Would highly recommend!

Generally an excellent location and the Villa is well appointed and well maintained, albeit a little tired in places.
The ameneties were as expected and it was clear some of the issues raised by previous guests had been addressed (hob, fridge, cutlery etc).
The outside area was a lovely space and well equipped with tables/chairs and sun-loungers and the barbecue was a much appreciated and well used feature.
We were using the villa as a base for a cycling holiday, so the pool was a very welcome 'cool down' facility and was clean and maintained well (The pool person visited whilst we were there).
The views back to town, overy the bay and the surrounding hills are stunning and nice to sit around outside and look at whilst having a post-ride drink.
Some small things to be aware of though. The property has a lot of steps to get from the gate to the villa. Fine for most, but may be a challenge for some. The walk to town is relatively short in distance but is quite a 'pull' back up the hill and may also be a challenge for some people.
We rented the property becasue it states 9 seperate beds which is what we needed (9 blokes - we won't share!) but on arrival it was clear there were only 8. There was a foldaway bed we found that we could use for the 9th, and a quick call to the local contact meant we had bedding for it quickly, but if the 9th bed is that foldaway, then that should be clearer.
All in all, a very nice villa and I would stay there again.

We arrived at 4pm in line with check-in time, however, the cleaning team were still there. We did feel a little like we were in the way and were intruding despite the fact that we weren't early.
Overall, the villa was incredible and views were absolutely stunning. Completely fit for purpose. Pool was perfect and outdoor shower was really refreshing. Aircon worked well. My daughter slept in the 1 x non-aircon room, but as she had an ice-pack with her and one of the many fans on, she was fine. Beds were really comfortable too. The only thing to mention which may need to be attended to was the leak next to or from the fridge. Walk into town could be slightly treacherous if less able-footed, however, we did find an alternative route on the last day. The location was really close to town though. A great base for exploring a little of Southern Spain. We would recommend and would definitely book again.

location of the villa is excellent! Minor problem with the air conditioning and pool which was partially sorted out very
quickly. Unfortunately one of the bedrooms lacked air conditioning , which was a pity as the temperatures were very high during our stay.
The only other thing to mention are the steep steps into the property , which when carrying shopping etc. proved a challenge!!!

We enjoyed our stay at this villa, especially the fantastic views, however it is in need of some maintenance. The hob is significantly cracked and some shower heads didn't stay securely on the wall. The entry system on the upper gate wasn't working, the parking in the garage was not available for us, neither was the satellite TV.

This villa is set on a hill overlooking La Herradura. There are fabulous views across the bay and the setting is beautiful and quiet. You can watch the sun go down behind the mountains and see the lights come on across the bay. The outside area is great. There is plenty of seating in the shade plus sun loungers and the children loved the pool - it has stepped entry and was clean and warm when we visited at the end of July.
Inside the house, the living accommodation was good. There is plenty of seating and space for 10 people. The bedrooms were as described (although one upstairs bedroom did not have air conditioning and was very hot). However, the kitchen area was tired, and we found some of the crockery and equipment was dirty. The fridge leaked leaving a permanent puddle on the floor (we did report this but it wasn't fixed) and there was an ant problem despite us keeping it very clean.
Although the villa is only a 15/20 minute walk from the beach/town, it is down a steep winding road which does not have pavements. In the heat, the walk back to the villa is very hard work and not suitable for young children/buggies or people who have mobility issues.
The town is lovely - it has remained a very Spanish town and was busy with local holiday makers. There are plenty of places to eat, plus a couple of small supermarkets and bakery/greengrocers etc. The beach is stony but the water is really clear and there are some good spots for snorkelling.

Pleasant family holiday in a lovely villa
Just returned from a great family holiday at this lovely villa.
The key points:
- very well equipped with everything needed for a weeks holiday
- gorgeous views over the bay of la Herradura
- lovely pool where we spent much of our time
- garden lovely with plenty of loungers and safe for toddlers
- set above the small town/village of la herradura , which meant a pleasant walk down but a difficult walk back , particularly at night in the dark. Taxis about 8 euros
- some sheets (map) missing from information pack which would have been useful
- a bit disappointed with local property managers as they failed to supply the information requested above and did not call on us to check all was ok
In summary we would definitely recommend this villa as we had a great time.

Amazing villa
Recently stayed here as a group of guys for a cycling holiday. Villa was absolutely perfect. Really spacious, plenty of bathrooms and the outdoor area overlooking the sea was perfect for chilling out after a long ride. The views as the sun went down were sensational. I'd definitely recommend to anyone as it is also very reasonably priced for a villa of that size

Small improvements that would make a big difference to the experience
In many ways the Villa and the surroundings are amazing but there are a few things that would definitely improve the experience for the cost. Firstly I would like to say that Doug was very helpful and the pool very well maintained.
1. I did not expect only the beds for 5 people to be made up when it was a house fo10, I appreciate that there were only 5 of us but other family might have joined. This policy should be highlighted before.
2, The fact that there was only one small bath towel for the whole week and 1 hand towel per person with no pool towels proved frustrating s we did not know that there would be no pool towels.
3. Instructions in English re the cooker, hotplate and the TV would be very helpful.
4. No washing up liquid/dishwasher tabs/washing powder/kitchen cleaning surface products etc again was very frustrating. A small amount of these really should be provided at this type of property.
5. The cutlery is all falling apart and needs replacing. Otherwise well appointed regarding equipment.
6. It was October so having the availability of duvets would have been nice as it got quite chilly at night.

A great Villa for family holidays
Great things about this villa:
The views are amazing
The place is well-maintained
The pool is fabulous
There really is everything you could possibly need in there for your stay.
Its very secure and we felt really safe there.
The only improvement I would suggest would be to put air con in the one upstairs room that doesn't have it. The Air con in all the other rooms was fabulous.

Beautiful location, great well equipped villa
We stayed here as a base for a cycling holiday in the area. Comfortably accommodated 8 adults. Unbelievable location with fantastic views across the bay and a superb pool for relaxing in after a day of cycling. All in all, a great place to stay.

We had a wonderful family holiday in this lovely villa. There were 8 adults and 4 children in our group and there was ample room for everyone. Villa very well equipped and good sized pool and garden was a great amenity to have for the children in particular. Only drawback was the hill back from town - quite a climb!
