Jackson County hosts dozens of waterfalls including Whitewater Falls, located just 11 miles away. With a 411 foot plunge, Whitewater Falls is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies. Below it, the Lower Whitewater Falls drops another 400 feet into South Carolina.

The Lancewood Neighborhood Community in Cashiers, North Carolina, is located below Sheep Cliff Mountain along the headwaters of the Horsepasture River. Lancewood was once part of an Old Indian Trail and a gold mine tract. In 1929, Talmadge Seldon Lance (note the T.S. Lance marker located at the entrance of our neighborhood), his wife Maude Pinner Lance, their teenage children, and friends of theirs moved here from Asheville. In 1932 they bought a saw and started a lumber yard. Their original homestead was located on what is now the entrance to the Lancewood Neighborhood. T.S. and Maude Lance were successful with their lumber business and eventually started building half-round log cabins for the buyers of their lots in the subdivision they named Lancewood. They built roads and dams for two lakes and surveyed about 65 lots, some with small acreages and some with larger acreages, all on the former gold mine. Their sales of lots and tracts continued into the forties and fifties, offering dream second homes in Cashiers with the added perk of being close to town.

This was an incredible spot! Walking distance to Buck’s Coffee in Cashier’s with an incredibly beautiful backyard with a stone fire pit and creek. The hosts were great and the cottage was clean and cozy. We would highly recommend this cottage on the creek!

Property was better than described. Cute, wonderful location for walking to "downtown" Cashiers, clean, well organized and welcoming. Family - from 70 y.o. grandpa to 12 y.o. grandson, to 8 y.o. Labradoodle - loved the property and the neighborhood community. (Wife wanted to buy the property and live there!). Not "luxurious", but very comfortable and quaint - in a good way. Thorougly enjoyed our stay in this property. Have been to Cashiers/Sapphire many times with multiple great rentals, but this was our favorite.

This lovely cottage exceeded our expectations! I have been visiting the Cashiers area for many many years and never dreamed this idyllic spot could be nestled in the heart of this village. Will be back!

My husband, our 3 littles (5yo, 3yo and 10mo) had a wonderful week at the cottage! We spent a lot of time on the screened porch, in the creek and adventuring around Cashiers. Everything at the house was top notch - appliances, linens, cutlery and useability. I loved that all the light switches were labeled!
Pam graciously gave us passes to Sapphire Valley Resort for added amenities.
Our adventures included: Sunset/Sunrise Rock & Whiteside Mountain Hikes, Silver Run Falls swimming, Cashiers Sliding Rock, pontoon boat at Lake Glenville. We had great meals at Whiteside Brewing, Happ’s Place, Crossroads Custard, Cornucopia, Cashier’s BBQ and Buck’s Coffee.
The property is centrally located and walkable to the town’s offerings. We will be back!

We have stayed in this cabin twice now and it doesn’t disappoint. Great location in Cashiers and waterfall with stream in the backyard that provides endless play for kids! The host is communicative and house is very clean. Highly recommend

Nice location and very clean. Would be a 5 star but the mattress in the master bedroom is as hard as a rock. Otherwise it is a nice rental.

Charming property with all the amenities and ideal location. This house is immaculate and has everything from all the kitchen equipment, bath towels, extra pillows to great grill. My family especially enjoyed the outside fireplace creekside!!! Owner Pam is top-notch with communication, etc. . We definitely will be back.

We love this place. We stayed on the same weekend last year, and decided to come back. This year, the weather was wonderful.
We cooked at the cabin, played in the creek, and made s'mores in the fire pit.
The kitchen is well equipped, beds comfortable, and seating in the living area is cozy.
The location is superb...so close to downtown Cashiers but you feel you are isolated. We enjoyed viewing several waterfalls nearby.
I highly recommend this property! We hope to return again!

We loved the cottage so much, would love to visit again in the spring or fall!

I highly recommend this place, it is spotless, up to date & very comfortable. To top this off, they have a mini waterfall at the head of the creek that you can listen to in the background. We were not familiar with “Dish TV” & after calling the owners, the following morning he came to show us what to do, very responsive & offered to come at 8pm, which was not necessary, but willingness meant a lot. We plan on returning with another couple soon, & will take both cabins on property. Thank you!! We would highly recommend this property!

We rented both cottages and we were so impressed with the entire property. It is well-designed to maximize being outside and enjoying the area (open and screened-in porch options, outside dining, outside TV, firepit, beautiful landscaping and hardscaping, and a creek flowing out back)! The inside was also well-appointed and had every amenity as was very clean and comfortable. 10/10 recommend.

We had a wonderful time! We rented both cottages and it was beautiful. My girls had fun playing in both cottages and around the property, especially around the creek and waterfall. The beds were really comfortable. It was so peaceful and quiet. We also really enjoyed the Sapphire Valley resort. We will definitely be back!

Cute home on creek in backyard and small waterfall. You can hear the waterfall from the back porch and fire pit. Great fire pit set up for 6 or more on the creek.

Wonderful 3 night stay….perfect house, amazing screened porch overlooking a beautiful waterfall!

We rented both cabins as we had five adults and two small children, ages 2 and 3 1/2. Both cabins were very clean and well stocked. Only need to bring your food. Best activity for us was definitely the kids playing in the creek. It provided hours of entertainment for them. Of course, the falls are beautiful and a fun trip for the kids was Jackson Hole Gem Mine. Pam checked in on us after arrival to make sure we were settled in and to see if we had any questions. Would definitely recommend this to anyone and especially if you have young children. Hope to make this an annual trip for our family.

Super close to town yet very private. Spotlessly clean. Great fireplace and firepit (by the stream). Gracious and responsive hosts. Well appointed kitchen. Beautiful screened-in porch. Exactly as advertised... only better! Can't wait to stay here again.

Great place that was well stocked with lots of character. Highly recommend.

Perfect house, just the right size for family of 4, creek was better than expected for fires and sound of the water was amazing. We spent much of our time on the screened porch enjoying the cool summer nights since we're from FL. Honestly the house was almost exactly what we want to build up there in the area, would definitely book again!

Perfect house! Close to town but also remote. Waterfall and stream in backyard. Feet in the water and rock hopping. Fire-pit for somemores. Lovely simple restful decor. Well equipped kitchen. Comfortable sofas, chairs, and beds. We cant wait to come again.

This cottage is so beautiful and exceeded our expectations for a weekend getaway. The location is perfect for travelers who want to be close to town yet feel as if they are tucked away in the mountains. Bravo to the owners for creating such a beautiful space and sharing it with others. This is our new favorite place.

This was a perfect vacation for our family!
The property was spotless and extremely well-stocked. If you plan on cooking in, the kitchen had everything we needed. The coffee maker had options for drip-style or keurig cups. There was even a Ninja blender in the pantry for morning fruit smoothies.
We had some rainy weather, so we didn't walk a lot, but it is definitely within walking distance to downtown Cashiers.
By far, the biggest draw for us was the patio area and the creek. My six-year old son and our dog pretty much were exploring in the creek the whole time we were there, even in the cold rain. We were able to have some s'mores in the fire pit during a break in the rain.
The location is great for exploring the area, being in Cashiers and very close to the Sapphire Valley Resort, and about 20 minutes to Highlands. We explored the nearby waterfalls and spent some time at the Jackson Hole Gem Mine. The owner provided us day passes to the Sapphire Valley Resort, which was really nice to have to access the indoor pool on a rainy Saturday.
We highly recommend this property for a launching point to explore the area. If you wish to stay and chill, the porch area is really nice, as well as the outdoor patio. Landscaping is great and blends in well with the natural enviroment.
This is a lovely property and we hope to return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Private & secluded property that is only 2 min drive from the middle of town. Our kids loved playing in the creek right outside the back door of this cabin. Awesome firepit right along the creek as well. We can’t wait to return!! Inside was beautifully decorated & all the basics were taken care of for you. Clean & tidy. 5-star stay!

This was a lovely and cozy place to stay for a quiet weekend getaway. The place was well stocked and accurate to the photos online - a 12 or so minute walk to shops and cafes. We had a small issue with the bathtub draining but Pam was quick to have it resolved. We will likely return In the future!

This cottage is so quiet and peaceful which is exactly what we wanted for our getaway. The fire pit area was such a delight and really added to the experience. Downtown Cashiers is a quick walk up the road and you are also a short drive to the grocery store as well. Great weekend!

Would not recommend long stay. We stayed for 3 weeks. Bedroom storage is lacking. Chest of drawers in 2nd bedroom non functional as were closets (filled halfway up with blankets). Lights out in two locations. Kitchen well equipped with the exception of glassware.

A waterfall in the back yard; what could be better? The house is beautifully appointed. The kitchen is the best we’ve experienced. We were able to prepare wonderful meals with fresh ingredients from the Cashiers Farmers Market. The screened porch was our go-to place for eating, reading, napping, journaling and drawing. We had a very minor problem the first morning and it was fixed within an hour. The hosts were wonderfully attentive and responsive. We left relaxed and restored, wishing we could stay a whole lot longer. We look forward to a return visit.

Creekside Treasure
Was so perfect. Best equipped rental we have ever visited. And sitting down by the stream in view of the waterfall was the most relaxing time each day. Location is great also with dining and shopping close by. We will be back.

Wonderful cottage in Cashiers
Our family loved our mini vacation at Creekside Cottage. The stream/waterfall behind the property makes a perfect backdrop for fires, s’mores, and reading on the back porch. The houses were great…cozy, well stocked, and perfect for a mountain get away. We loved the location and can’t wait to return. Pam was wonderful. Highly recommend!

Ideal Stay
We traveled with our young kids and my parents, and this was the perfect place for the seven of us. We were in the area to visit waterfalls, so it was a huge luxury to have our own little waterfall and creek next to the beautifully landscaped patio area. We sent a different kid to stay with their grandparents each night, and the self-inflating queen mattress in the smaller cabin was perfect. We loved being able to wave goodnight to them every night and enjoy meals together on the screened deck with the sound of the waterfall. This was one of the best-stocked rentals we’ve ever stayed at, and we appreciated that we could have driven into town later in the day and had dinner at the brewery and been fine if we had forgotten shampoo or coffee instead of having to make a late run to the store. The location was very convenient to groceries, restaurants, and a great playground, and we took pretty drives to Jackson Hole Gem Mine, Dry Falls, Cullasaja Falls (without the kids), Silver Run Falls, Whitewater Falls, and several more near Highlands and Brevard. We appreciated the passes to the rec center where the kids enjoyed the pool, arcade, and mini golf after several days of chasing waterfalls. We’d love to come back!

Another wonderful stay at the Creekside Cottage!
We needed a last minute rental and were thrilled when we saw the Creekside Cottages were available. Perfect location to get to town-we discovered the dog park this visit and met several locals and their dogs. The kids loved playing in the creek and making smores on the firepit. Pam was quick to respond with anything we needed and kind enough to make sure we got our coats back that we forgot in the cabin. We highly recommend the cottages and will definitely stay here again!

Absolutely Wonderful Cabins
We had a wonderful and relaxing time at this property over the Holidays. Both Cabins were just as described and super cozy. Slept like babies every night.
We were able to enjoy a few nights out by the firepit by the water before the rain came in and ended that. We made smores and everything.
Since the weather was not that cold, we were able to watch and enjoy College Bowl games during the week in the screened in patio while we also had some drinks and played some cards.
We cooked several nights and had all the kitchen essentials to make many meals as well as plenty of baking sheets for cookies.
We were also within 15- 30 minutes from so many outdoor activities. Especially all the different waterfalls. We went to about 4 or 5. Hit up Highlands which was a great little town as well.
From the cabin, we also were able to walk within a mile to a brewery, a great little donut shop/baking company, and a great coffee shop with solid Cappuccino's and Latte's.
I don't want to leave out Pam, our host. She was very responsive with the question we had and made the check-in and check out process smooth.
Honestly, there is just too much to mention on how much we enjoyed our stay here. We cannot wait to plan another trip to stay here.
