About this house rental
New for 2024, AC in both bedrooms and on the 3rd floor. Casa Bella Vista is a typical Ligurian House with stunning sea views .The village of Manarola is situated within the unique landscape of the Cinque Terre National Park. The property has been renovated to a high standard and includes Wi-Fi. The accommodation is provided over four floors with the additional benefit of a roof terrace. The ground floor entrance leads to a living and dining area with seating for 6, with a fully equipped kitchen on the 3rd floor. A spiral staircase provides access to the roof terrace for outdoor dining and casual seating. Bathrooms are situated on the 1st and 2nd floor, and each include a shower, toilet and bidet. The bedroom on the 1st floor has two single beds, the bedroom on the 2nd floor has a king sized bed. A double sofa-bed is situated on the 3rd floor.
The property is a five minute walk up a steep hill from the centre of the village, and is therefore not ideal for very young children or the infirm.
Getting to Manarola: The most convenient airports for the Cinque Terre are Pisa, Genova (Genoa), and Parma. Travel from the airport to Manarola is best by train, as vehicles are not permitted in the village, however public pay parking is available at the top of the village, euro 20 per day. Alternatively, it is possible to arrange in advance a private garage space at an additional cost of euro 25 per night.
Local facilities : Manarola has several excellent restaurants and bars, two pizzerias, a gelateria, juice bar and a cash machine. As a working village, it also has two small supermarkets, a pharmacy, Post Office and a selection of shops selling locally made gifts and produce.
Out and about: The best way to discover the Cinque Terre is on foot, along the many paths through terraced vineyards and olive groves giving spectacular views of the sea. The five villages of the Cinque Terre, Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso each have their own unique identity, and a wealth of history to explore.
Further afield, La Spezia is the largest town in the area, and is reached easily by a 10 minute train journey. Portofino and Portovenere are also good destinations.

Great location to explore cinque terra. Amazing views from multiple levels.

Our family of 5 greatly enjoyed our stay at this property. You can't beat the view from the top floors and roof deck. We ate our dinners on the rooftop with a bottle of wine, watching the sunset.
The bottom floor was cool and humid as it is built into the mountain and water can run down the rock wall, and we didn't use this room much,
The bedrooms were comfortable and clean with air conditioning that worked well.
Again, due to the constant humidity that is part of a home built into the side of a mountain, the lower bathroom had some mildew.
The property manager was very responsive when we had a problem with the hot water on our last day. He came to the property within minutes of when I notified him of the problem. Unfortunately he was not able to fix it, but as it was at the end of our visit, it was not a big problem.
Overall, this is a unique and wonderful home, and I would recommend it and would rebook if I visit again

We embraced the challenges this home has with the 55 steps and many levels -
as the charm and conveniences and location and views made it totally worthwhile !! The management company was wonderful to work with and convenient to pick up keys etc. our absolutely only complaint was the rooftop deck area was Soooo dirty and covered with bird droppings gs and smelled terrible so we couldn’t enjoy our time or view from there as we had hoped it was a neglected area

This house has so much charm and amazing views. As with anyone visiting Cinque Terre, you must like stairs as there are four different floors in the house. There were some issues with the air unit making a knocking noise during our family's stay which we reached out to property management about. They were not able to get someone over to service it during our stay though. Hopefully, they got someone to fix it before the next person's stay as our group left one day early to get some rest somewhere more quite. The interior of the house is very cool though and seemed to stay pretty cool for the most part on its own.

Wonderful two-bedroom apartment with plenty of space for our family of three. Amazing views overlooking the sea and all the amenities to make for a highly comfortable, enjoyable stay! Would definitely stay here again.

5 story property right on the water built onto the mountain. Quaint and well-located. Loved the rooftop patio - sat with a sea gull reading and enjoying the sound of the ocean waves. You could hear the ocean all night. Had everything we needed, and the property manager saved us on our checkout day when there was a railway strike, by arranging private transport.

Everything was great but we asked 4 times for the Wi-Fi code and never received it. Instructions on how to use amenities in the apartment would have been helpful and directions to the office to pick up keys would be great.

Apartment was very nice, with excellent view! It was a bit of struggle from parking garage to apartment, but worth it.

We stayed here for three nights (in Oct 23) of our month vacation in Italy. This was one of our favorite stays. The view is stunning, & we enjoyed dinner and drinks from the roof top watching the sun set. This is on the top of the cliff but the walk up was pretty easy, it’s just up a gentle sloping walkway from middle of town. The multiple levels in the apartment were no issue for us…we are 61 & 57. The apartment had portable air conditioners that worked great. In fact we are going to buy some of these when we get home. Manarola was our favorite town in Cinque Terre so really glad we stayed there.

We thoroughly loved our stay in Jo's Casa Bella Vista, and would definitely stay here the next time we are in Manarola.
The management team (ArbaSpaa) was terrific, and had everything ready for us, after a quick stop from the train station. They lead us to the apartment, showed us how everything worked (everything did!), fired up the WiFi hotspot for us, then were available anytime. We didn't need them until checkout, when we turned in the keys.
If you like stairs, and you must if you are thinking about staying in any of the 5 cities in Cinque Terre, you will appreciate Jo's apartment. The bottom floor is a general meeting area if you have guests (there is a small sink, fridge, and large dining table built into the stone - very cool). We kept our coats and luggage there.
The second floor offers a full bath and guest bedroom. The third floor, the master bedroom and full bath, with a nice window that opens onto the ocean (those lovely breezes!). The fourth floor is the main living area, with full kitchen, dishwasher, and clothes washer. Everything worked fine. And the fifth floor has a clothes line, some extra chairs for the outdoor patio, and entrance to the roof-top patio - where the WiFi signals works well enough to stream as you have a glass of wine and watch your favorite show before bed.
Take the easy up-steps walk to our fave restaurant, Trattoria dal Billy.
Jo was very easy to get in touch with, delivered everything promised, and made our stay in Manarola perfect.

The pictures simply cannot do justice to the location. The roof top view alone is worth every dollar/euro. It is a bit of an adventure with the stairways and doorways, but completely worth it for those who are fit and able. Five adults thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will come again.
Manarola was our favorite of the 5 towns. We recommend “Hellocinqueterre” for the sunset boat tour. They were terrific!
Many thanks to Jo and her management company.

This view from this property was undeniably beautiful. Unfortunately, the floors were not clean as there was hair and ants on the floor and bathrooms were also not that clean. We did mention it to the property manager(s) and the reply was sorry but no offers to fix it. I did find the bug spray and took care of the ants daily. When we needed a flame stick to start the oven, they could not deliver it to us. Also, because there is no air conditioning, the fans were not enough so we had to open windows at night but got bitten by bugs.. two weeks later, still require care. Also, the ad does say there are 5 levels, but the steps were straight up and down inside and a bit hard to navigate inside the unit.

First family vacation with daughters, son-in-law and two friends. Location was ok except for having to walk uphill to get to apt. Apartment was very nice and we loved the rooftop terrace. A few cons , no ac but luckily it wasn’t they hot, but especially there was only one hot spot and there were four floors so only one floor would have Wi-Fi . I would suggest getting a hot spot for each floor or at least one more . Loved that we could cook and also do wash before moving to our next stop

The perfect home base for Cinque Terre

Group of 4 adults.
The house is on multiple levels with narrow staircases to each level and no air conditioning. So if its a summer vacation I would think very carefully about booking.
I read other reviews that claimed there were 170 steps to the house. This is not accurate. There is an easily walked ramp straight to the door from the main street.
The view is exceptional. The accommodation is fine but if you have any mobility issues there are basically 5 floors, so 4 staircases, although the rear entrance comes in on the 3rd floor with the main kitchen [ there are steps to this door ] and to get to the outside balcony there is a Hobbit door.
Over all it was pretty good. We chose the location for the view but air conditioning would go a long way to making a summer stay that much more comfortable. That was our choice but I wouldn't do it again.

Amazing views and location, but we stayed here 16 years ago and I don’t think anything has changed since then. Quite dirty, bathrooms especially weren’t very clean and with a dirty shower etc. With the amount this cost, it would be great to have air con installed or at least some decent fans as it’s very very hot in there over summer, also our euro plugs didn’t work which was frustrating, would have been good to know this before we arrived

Great contact with the host and the property management company. Amazing view and a nice location. The property is pretty well detailed in the host description, but it would be good to highlight a few items:
There is no AC. This was tough during the very hot weather we experienced during our visit. With windows & doors open, we could not get a breeze going through the house. It remained very hot & humid throughout our entire stay, even through the night. Fans were supplied but portable tower AC units would be a thoughtful upgrade.
The stairways are very narrow & very steep…almost like ladders. Ok for fit adults & teens, but they may be difficult & a bit dangerous for younger kids & elderly folks.
The bottom floor was not in a condition suitable for a bedroom or otherwise as sleeping quarters. It was very dank & damp, musty.

Very spacious with four full levels plus a fifth loft and terrace. Was nice having a kitchen so we didn’t have to eat at restaurants every meal. The rooftop terrace was great for morning and evening hang outs and had an amazing view of the ocean and marina. A couple things to be aware of is the low clearance on the stairs and the lack of air conditioning.

Staying at this property in Manarola was magical. You feel you are on top of the world. The water below is a beautiful blue and dinners on the terrace is just perfect.

The view is fantastic, the location is right in the heart of Manarola. The property was as described and the property managers were communicative and helpful.
We loved the rooftop terrace, but it would have been better with a proper table umbrella -- there was a base for one, but the only umbrella available was a flimsy beach umbrella. So I am guessing probably a previous guest broke the original. It was too hot to sit in the direct sun without any shade, so we ended up not really using the terrace that often.
The kitchen was well stocked with useful items and the washing machine was very good.
The water pressure to the showers was good, but the temperature regulation was actually dangerous.
It went from warm & perfect to freezing cold to scalding hot. And when I say scalding, I mean practically boiling hot.
The sheets & towels were clean, and the place was dusted, but the floor was coated in long dark hair. I think perhaps the housekeeper did not clean the floor prior to our visit.
That said, I would put up with these inconveniences to get that beautiful view, so it was worth it.

We had a lovely stay in this quaint little apartment in Manarola. The place was full of charm and had spectacular views of the sea and the surrounding towns. Easily accessible to everything, yet private and quiet. A couple of things would improve the stay include an espresso or Nespresso machine, a proper umbrella for the rooftop terrace and much better attention to cleaning. The place was rather dirty and very unsatisfactory, especially for the cost of this property. The rooftop terrace was extremely hot and the tiny beach umbrella did little to shield from the sun. Air conditioning would also be a lovely addition as the heat was overwhelming with very little airflow. Additional towels for use at the beach would also be helpful. Overall we had a great stay and with attention to these few items it would be five star all around.

I can’t even describe how wonderful this property is. It is even better in person compared to the pics. Location is 100% perfect, spacious, comfortable and unique. The upstairs patio was perfect for morning coffee and sunset wine. If you have the opportunity to stay here don’t pass it up!!

The reason to rent this property is for the view. It is in a very quiet area, with a great roof top terrace, but the house itself can be a challenge. The stairs are steep and narrow, and it is easy to be hitting your head. It seemed like an accident waiting to happen going up and down. The terrace has a small umbrella, meant for taking to the beach, but really needs a larger proper patio umbrella cause it does get very hot up there in the sun. The house itself was not clean, the kitchen had splash marks all over the appliances, there were ants crawling on the counters, and the floors everywhere were not clean. Ants were also crawling all around the bathroom floor. The beds were also uncomfortable, with very flat hard pillows. It was definitely an experience staying in the house, but would caution anyone who is older, has any type of mobility issues, is tall, or has young children from staying here, but as said before, the view and location are great.

My children and their husbands took me to Cinque Terra as an 80th birthday treat. The apartment was a perfect experience on the Italian Riviera. It is close to everything in the village - the railroad is close making the train very available to go to or from the other villages
The management company were thorough in the explanation of the property when we arrived and helpful with any questions we had during our stay. We highly recommend this property for a visit to Cinque Terra

Absolutely clean and amazing home with a view!! If you can’t do stairs well this isn’t for you. Friendly property manager and owner! Close to the market, restaurants, and shopping.

Absolutely loved the house and the view was stunning! Each room has an unbelievable view of the Mediterranean 😍 what’s better than that? The location was incredibly convenient (Manarola is the best!) and communication with the property manager was as simple as it gets. They were also kind and accommodating. We will 💯 stay here again next time we’re in Cinque Terre - can’t wait!!

We had a great time at Jo’s Manarola house. It’s in a perfect location with outstanding views, especially from the rooftop terrace. The accommodations are comfortable and the property is clean. There are four flights of stairs - plus the stairs & hills of Manarola - so you’ll get your exercise. Highly recommend.

This apartment is located at the top of the village overlooking the sea. Gorgeous panoramic views and we enjoyed coffee and happy hours on the rooftop terrace. Even though it sits atop a cliff, it is still surprisingly close to the main area with restaurants and shops. If you can’t do stairs, however, this apartment is not for you as there are five stories and flights of stairs with the final one being a spiral metal staircase leading to the terrace area. Luckily we are fit and healthy so no problem for us although we did have to watch that we didn’t bump our heads going down the stairs—low clearances for sure. It’s not the most “luxurious” accommodation but it is unique and authentic and we loved it for the views and the ability to point it out in every photo of the iconic Manarola!

What an amazing place!!!! We enjoyed every minute of it. The roof top terrace is what we enjoyed the most - especially in the evening for a drink while resting our weary legs!

Great place! The view was awesome. The rooftop table was enjoyed daily. Very unique place. Lots of steps in unit but we didn’t mind. We got to work off all of the awesome food we ate going up and down the steps. So close to tons of places to eat. One of the highlights was the high trail to Corniglia and stopping at the vineyard for wine. We met a fabulous group of Italians on a tasting tour and they sang a song to us in Italian, shared food and wine, and google translations lol. Their genuine smiles and kindness from the heart we’ll never forget. Will come back here for sure!

The property certainly lived up to it’s name Bella Vista-Beautiful View. It was the perfect place to call home for the 4 days that we visited Cinque Terre. We were very pleased with the clean, comfortable, accommodations with a spectacular view of the Ligurian coast from Monterosso to Manarola. The rooftop deck was the perfect place to relax, read, have cocktails and dine.
The rental agency, Arbaspaa , was extremely helpful when we first arrived. They brought us to the apartment and explained all of the features of it. We had one question later about the Wi-Fi and they immediately responded in person.
We had an excellent experience.

As pictured, the property is one of the many beautiful brightly colored homes overlooking the sea. It was hard to know which it would be from the pictures of the hillside but it's a very tall red bed house. My wife and her parents stayed for three nights.
The property is very narrow and very tall, which is typical of the area. Each floor basically had front-facing room with windows and a backroom tucked into the rock. The entry floor has a kitchen and sitting area that are very neat but basically you're living on the 2-5th floors. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable. The upstairs kitchen was pretty but mostly esthetic. We used the dishwasher and washing machine a bit and they worked well. No dryer except the folding racks upstairs with the sea breeze.
The many small staircases made it feel a bit like a hobbit house for me (6'3") but it was fun to move around. The rooftop patio is basically where we spent any awake time at the property. The view of the sea is incredible and never gets old. The tiny door to get up there got a little old but it's manageable.
No A/C made the units a little warm when there wasn't a sea breeze. It also appears that window screens aren't really a thing in Italy yet so we had to choose between an open window letting a few bugs in or getting too hot. Not too bad. There was a bat swooping around outside but it never came in the window.
The bathroom on the third floor is excellent. very spacious. Wi-Fi and check-in at the office were great. The property management team is located at the bottom of the hill and helped get us oriented. Overall, very excellent stay and would 100% recommend. Thank you!

The property was brilliant. The views amazing. The property had all the essentials you need for a short stay. We had lunch just about every day on the terrace enjoying the view.

Great location. You can listen to the sound of the ocean lulling you to sleep. Go to Billy’s trattoria for an excellent meal.
Lots of stairs everywhere.

This property is magical. Our group of six meant sleeping arrangements were a bit tight, but that was worth the extraordinary views, the venerable rooms of stone and timber, the fun and funky layout. Yes, stairs. Yes, steep hills, but that's why we were in the 5 Terre. We loved looking up from ferry or across the valley and seeing the house's red façade and green shutters, knowing we were the lucky ones staying there. Thank you for having us in your charming home.
