Excellent staff - Shubham was very helpful. The staff was nice and friendly. The rooms were aesthetic
On the first floor the balcony is covered with curtains - but there is noise.. Maybe they should cover with Glass

Good clean rooms. Linen was clean and all immediate toiletries etc were available in the toilets. Proximity to Assu Ghar was just 5-7 minutes walk. Staff were good and courteous. Proximity to Assi Ghat a good positive.
No restaurant available, including Kitchen was not open for lunch. One had to go out for lunch. Breakfast was avaiable on order. No buffet breakfast or Lunch or dinner.

The staff was very nice and the room and bed are HUGE. The breakfast was nice, odd from a Western perspective, but I got used to it. Tried a lot of new things because of the strange choices. Was happy that there was a security guard. Felt safe.
The late night staff does not speak any English. I had a problem with my air conditioning one night and I asked for it to be fixed a the the night manager, but this never happened. So one of my nights was miserable. It was an easy fix and I wish I would have known how to do it. Always ask how to turn on A/C if it happens to stop working all of a sudden! Also, NOISY! But all of Varanasi is noisy. Can't avoid the honking horns probably anywhere.

The Kothi gives a feel of staying in a zamindar villa. The rooms were quite spacious as well.
The unprofessional behaviour of the manager & staff. There were a few problems which they were unable to resolve & they carried a very casual attitude which is uncalled for. The room services were pathetic! Very substandard services against the rate they charge!

the property is lovely. My room was very big and comfortable. Bathroom had nice hot water and the room had AC
The AC usually flipped off at least one time per day and the breaker had to be reset. Make sure you find out how to do this when you check in. Also, most of the staff speakers limited English, so be prepared for that

Good location, good breakfast but only after 08.30 am.
Not really clean, some days no cleaning, worst thing is very intense traffic noise inside the room...

The breakfast had limited options. The staff was helpful(Special mention to Shubham and other staff). As a whole, we had a lovely experience there.

Boutique hotel experience with personalised service, large rooms, tall ceilings, lots of marble fittings gave element of luxury, retained some historical elements in the decor.
Convenient location within easy walking to ghats.
Attentive staff service.
Comfortable beds and pillows, clean and modern fittings.

Location near the river was good, there were also multiple places to eat nearby. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was simple but good.
There were dust all over our room floor. The lock on the door didn't work, so we had to ask for a chain and a padlock from the management. Being "heritage" is not a valid reason not to have a functioning lock on the door. There were mould inside the frigde in our room. The hotel was next to a busy street, so all the noise from the street came straight through the windows and we couldn't sleep without earplugs. Overall the hotel seemed quite rundown and there were mould on the ceiling. It could be a very nice place, if they would renovate it properly.

Very good breakfast and great location
Bathroom is clean but needs to be improved:
No separation - shower curtain etc - between shower area and the rest of the bathroom. Shower pressure needs to be improved and hooks needed to hang clothes.

This old heritage hotel was a great choice: well located, close to other hotels, restaurants, ghats and the tourist area. It has only seven rooms which are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was fine but we had problems to communicate with the kitchen staff. Each day, there was a different breakfast menu but the kitchen staff was unable to explain it to us properly. So having breakfast was a bit of a struggle. On our last day, we had to leave at 4 am to catch a train. We tried to get a packed breakfast and this was another struggle. Eventually, we managed yo get some curd, plates and spoons to eat fruit we had bought mixed with the curd. The last drop, however, came when we were leaving. The night guard charged us for a bottle of mineral water we had asked a couple of hours earlier. Of course, we paid him. However, we think that a hotel of such standing should not charge for water. Small details like that can ruin a places reputation and destroy years of hard work and effort. We suggest that the staff should have more training to avoid the small problems we had. After all, this is a great place which could be even better if the level of service improves.

charming owners, professional staff, quality food, historical residence, feeling home in a chaotic city.
Noise from the street & too loud music from wedding parties nearby.

location
too much price for almost not so worth facilities!

Staff were helful in terms of setting up taxi/activities. Also the room was clean and there were clean sheets.
Staff did not replenish water nor toilet paper unless I asked. This was very annoying given the price we paid. I understand it is a priviledge to receive toilet paper in india but we paid over $120 a night for our room with 2 people and Westerners need to be supplied with ample drinking water for that price.
