Great spot with a nice vibe.
Unfortunately there was heavy rain during 2 of our 4 days in the canyon. Some water dripped through the roof onto the bed, but was resolved by moving furniture and using a trash can to collect water. We also lost power to some of the outlets and stair lights for the last couple of days. Having said that, we had a blast with no real issues.
Our rental car was a large SUV, but we had no problems with parking or driving on the switchbacks.

We've been here several times already and hopefully will be back soon again. We love the cabin (perfectly bohemic to our taste), the view from the deck, proximity of Country Store, restaurant Pace and Sunset Boulevard, to mention a few. And lovely hikes on the steep canyon roads! Definitely we are coming back again.

Host gave wrong data for WiFi, so I was unable to connect, which caused major problems because my iPad is WiFi only so I couldn’t do things I needed to do. Even worse, host’s phone mailbox was full; I left six messages over 2 days, she never responded. For a host to have a full mailbox and not respond to SMS messages is not acceptable. Also, little things- only one (1!) very tiny piece of soap, no soap dish, cobwebs around outside sitting area, where someone had left a spool of electrical wire on the center table. Very disappointed, and will be seeking adjustment on the bill due to the failure to provide WiFi.

Our family of 4 enjoyed this gem of a home in the Hollywood hills. The pictures online can't capture the serenity and beauty you'll experience from the large deck and ample windows. You see amazing city lights, but you're enough away from it all that you can still stargaze. The sofas on the deck are the perfect place to relax, read, drink coffee in the morning and wine at night and to feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, yet just minutes from everything. This was the ideal landing place for our local adventures, with a kitchen large enough to cook in, and plenty of dine-out or delivery options if you don't want to cook. There were extra linens, pillows & blankets for cuddling up in front of a movie, and the bathroom was awesomely stocked with sample sizes of all sorts of toiletries. The king-sized bed was extremely comfortable, and we are picky about our mattresses. Yes, the road is narrow and essentially one-way, but easy to navigate and we never felt unsafe driving up or down.Yes, there were stairs, but they were beautiful, well-lit, and wide enough to easily maneuver with our luggage even though we arrived in the early evening and departed in the wee hours of the morning. Kristie is thoughtful and lovely to deal with as an owner, and we highly recommend this unique home. We only wish we could have stayed for longer. We'll definitely come here again next time we're in the area. Thank you, Kristie, for sharing your home with us. It gave our family the perfect ending to our 2018 adventures!

I was not made aware of the unsafe road conditions by home owner after booking my stay with her home. I followed google maps that matched her instructions only to come to a single way unpaved road with an “open trench” sign, road closed signs and construction signs and cones everywhere. Signage said that construction had been there since June and runs to September.
I booked July. There were “no parking” signs all along the road. I had driven up seen all of this and had a full on panic attack.
I couldn’t figure out how to get my truck down. I felt trapped up by her home and finally found a man after an hour to drive my truck back down the road. He was so great for helping me.
I made contact with the home owner while going through all of this with no help or sympathy for my situation, which was fine. I still let her know what I was going through, the road conditions of the area, that I was not going to be staying at the home, and that I didn’t enter her home. I thought that would be ok, but only more problems started from there.
I had bought trip insurance. A policy you can only file for either before you stay or if after your “check in time” the home owner puts in for “cancellation” for it to be valid.
Well, the home owner refused. She refused my cancellation. She also told me several times that she spent my money already on the mortgage and that it wasn’t fair to her family to refund my payment or if I filed for my insurance. ???
I couldn’t even apply for my paid insurance. It was all in her hands.
I let her know that I have a family also, and now a double expense because I had to find somewhere new to stay. I also let her know that she should be aware of the conditions of the road and services going on on the road leading to her rental home.
I had to take photos and now have to dispute the purchase through our bank.
It was my daughters 16th birthday trip.
I had to book another hotel, and I had to deal with the home owner and HomeAway my whole trip. Also, I had to walk up to her home and had to climb those beautiful steps to her deck to grab my daughter who wanted to explore and that deck is not as photoed and definitely not to code. The railing was leaning forward toward to a steep mountain side. I probably would have walked the mountain for our stay everyday if that deck was safe. It all was an anxiety nightmare!
I would recommend passing on this home owner and this property.
I would give -5 stars For safety.

Charming hideaway in the hills
The location of this house was perfect for us tucked away in the hillside. A very short drive to WeHo! The temp was very hot in LA during our stay, and the AC did a nice job of keeping us cool. We never felt cramped...nice spaces inside and out!

Hideaway Gem
Wonderful place to stay to relax and visit the LA scenes, Beverly Hills, Tour the stars homes or just kick back and spend time with family/friends. The home was clean and very comfortable. We really enjoyed having coffee in the morning on the deck and a nice glass of wine in the evening while taking in the views. Thanks for sharing your home.

Great spot to stay to visit LA!
This is a great little home hidden in Laurel Canyon providing great access to LA. As a family of four, we used this as home base and found it to be the perfect spot, particularly for accessing Hollywood, Universal, beaches, Mulholland, etc. The outdoor view is great and it was so nice to be able to use the deck as an extra room, particularly for an early morning "work" spot. Kristi has provided everything you need and is very responsive to questions. We would definitely stay here again when visiting LA!

Great view of the Laurel Canyon....if you survive the drive & the stairs!
My husband and I were in the LA area for a week and chose this as our homebase. The house itself was nice; small, but great for the two of us. Being midwesterners, now living in Florida, driving up and down the hills and canyons took a bit of getting used to. But getting to the house location is just half the battle. Then there is the trip up the staircase to actually get to the house. It's a small workout all on it's own! Now the owner, the information here, and many other reviews all warn about the stairs, so not complaining, just adding to the commentary to be prepared. But it is all worth it! Once you make it to the house, you are greeted with a fabulous view of the canyon and the homes all nestled in its nooks and crannies. If you take the walk that the owner recommends, you can see some neat homes along the way and some more fabulous canyon views. Sitting on the patio every morning, enjoying a cup of coffee and the view was a wonderful way to start the day. Then when you are ready to join the hustle and bustle of LA, you drive down the canyon and are close to everything! I do highly recommend dinner at PACE...a cozy italian restaurant, at the bottom of the canyon, that features locally sourced ingredients in modern italian dishes. Not only was the food phenomenal, but it's a great place for celebrity sightings. The night we went, we saw Ellen and Portia as well as "Howard" and "Bernedette" (from Big Bang Theory). That's the house, location, and surroundings, but I will also add that the owner was fabulous and accommodating. The night of our arrival was a black out, so other than our headlights (for driving) and phone flashlights (for walking the stairs), there were no lights or power once we got to the house. She kept us informed and did her best to ensure we were as comfortable as possible. Thankfully, it didn't last too long. Overall, a great place to get away from the hustle & bustle of the city, while still feeling very much a part of it.

Wonderful stay and location
Once you get used to the stairs you'll fall in love with this place like we did. This is a great location with quick, easy access to most of the popular LA attractions PLUS provides amazing peacefulness, great views, history, and a little fun quirkiness thrown in.
Our urban vacation had a nice calmness to it - not easy to do with three teenagers and a total of five of us all sharing one bathroom. It was the house and it's location that provided that to us. The kids could come and go as they pleased, relax on the deck, go for a walk, or take a $4 Uber ride down to Hollywood to see the sights. All in all a fantastic stay and one that we'd like to repeat every time we travel to LA.
Thank you Kristie!

Truly great place... stay here, couples or families, it is awesome
My family of 5 stayed here, kids ages 11 to 17... it was absolutely perfect place to stay. Location cannot be beat, a few mins from Hollywood yet once you drive up in the hills, you would think you are 3 hours out of town. The porch is incredible, huge and unreal views of the canyon. Inside of house is top of the line and Kristie is immediately responsive if you need anything. I'm passing this on to our friends / family, recommending they stay here for sure on their next LA visit. Thanks for the hospitality Kristie. The steps are fine by the way, part of the experience.

Amazing Quiet Property up in the Hollywood Hills
Kristie's Casita is a lovely sanctuary in the hills above Hollywood. Once you ascend the stairs (OK there's a lot of them), you're glad you came. With it's Spanish old world charm and romantic view below it is a delightful respite from the busy city. There are deer that come by your door to enhance the contrast of a place that is less than 5 minutes (by car) from the heart of Hollywood as well as the Sunset strip. Kristie is wonderful and is very responsive to anything that came up. The internet speed is pretty good and the living room is comfortable for lounging with a great L shape couch and mounted flatscreen that has Uverse for your entertainment pleasure. The ultra modern washer/dryer behind the casita is also quite convenient. The kitchen is beautiful and functional. Overall it was a pleasure. Highly recommended for a short or long stay. Thanks Kristie!

So Romantic! Great house
I was surprised by this home because it's like a Mexican hacienda, but it's in the middle of town. Lots of steps and Spanish tile and a whole outdoor area that's like a separate outside home. My only complaint is I overslept the first day because I was so relaxed lol. Very pretty and secluded and clean. You can't hear neighbors which is surprising since youre in the hills. WAAAAYY better than staying at a crap hotel where you pay $30 for parking and have no room to breathe.
