in short, beautiful place but the gîte le fournil needs a good refurbishment

great location, peaceful domain, nice little villages very friendly welcome, Nicolas is a great host great garden but not really maintained as in the photos on booking great swimming pool (bit cold, 23 degrees) but bottom was dirty

the gîte itself we had Le Fournil - it was dirty with minor defects that cause some frustrations (moisture, leaking shower, dirty dishes, old wobbly fridge, towels are worn out,…) kitchen was not really well equipped

our aim was to have a comfortable stay for our way back from spain. It didnt match our expectations as there was no baby

the big room and bed we had slept great

not ideal with baby (no baby mattress available) and the swimming pool was to dirty to swim in.

quirky old house with great features

stylish country old farm house, lots of great features. the log fires were excellent

it was a bit cold when we arrived and it took a while to get any hot water

Stunning historic property

Amazing place for large family groups, steeped in history Peaceful setting with incredible rooms and lots of facilities We loved the pool table, ping pong, rode on tractors and swimming pool Host is incredibly welcoming and would recommend taking his boat out

Great stay!

We had a wonderful stay in Saint Phal. The house is comfortable and tasteful, surrounded by a nice garden and comfortable pool. Very friendly chickens and cat walking around as well! The host is very friendly and accommodating, we can also highly recommend booking a sailing trip with him on Lac d’Orient.

Amazing place in the countryside, lots of activities for kids plus chickens and a cat:) Nicolas is an amazing host, showed us around the property. There is a small swimming pool the use as well. Loved every minute spending a day at this property and will come back!

The property was really big and had a lot of things to offer. The pool was really clean and nice! We enjoyed the stay very much! It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very delicious and enough for two people. The owner was really nice and was recommending us a lot.

Beautiful property with authentic houses in rural surroundings and a fantastic host, "landlord Nicolas" ;). We felt special at this cosy place, surrounded by fruit trees, chicken and other animals and a beautiful pool to swim in. Our appartment, which was probably an old barn, was beautifully furnished with authentic elements. Chapeau Nicolas!! Au revoir, Samke, Abel et Jasper des Pays-Bas

The engagement of the accommodation owner and the price and quietness of the location. The pool is very nice and with pets and chickens moving freely around do make it a chill place to relax and wind down.

Discrepancy between information on booking.com and reality. Where this led to an initial disappointment at arrival it was quickly solved by the owner to mutual satisfaction

Well worth it for a family of 4 or three adults,say, but no way could more 4 have a comfortable stay

Splendid location and surroundings. It's a fascinating property and set of villages near Troyes, Chaource, and Chablis. Nicholas is a wonderful chap, but rather over-stretched; he needs a factotum to iron out the practical minutiae of the gites. The chickens, cat, dog and gardens are a delight. Nicholas should stay in the house for a weekend himself each spring to get an idea of the strengths and weaknesses there are!

It was the wettest coldest May ever, so must have been hard to prepare the property for the season this year. So some things weren't ready. Inside: Pillow quantity, kitchen equipment, oven, water scalding, the leak in one room, awkward front door. Breakfast rather small for 4 people. The bathroom was just about okay for 4 of us (one toilet only). Outside: Pool heater broken, rather untended structural surroundings.

Nice hide-away in ancient French gite

Lovely French gîte in a quiet area featuring a unique, 700-year old building. All the facilities are there, with a good pool, table tennis, bbq, games, etc. Host Nicolas is fantastic and very welcoming. Nice breakfast. 20 min drive to Troyes which is a great town. Supermarket at 6km.

Pool surroundings are a little bit messy. Also, pool could do with a few more beds.

Very nice house and domain with swimming pool.

The house was clean and well kept. Everything was available for a pleasant stay. The host is very accommodating.

There was some dog poo on the driveway.

Saint Phal

The host was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was HUGE! There was lots of outdoor space for the kids to play and to relax. The gite we stayed in was very comfortable. We will surely come back. Thank you Nicolas en Lawrence.

It was a little too far off for what we had planned to do so we did a lot of driving. Next time we plan to just sit back and enjoy the the property:)
