My clients have continually complimented my on prompt reply to their questions. I will call you upon booking. If you are not comfortable with my contacting over the phone, please send me a note prior to your booking. We also live in the house above the cabin from August thru January which is helpful when you need immediate assistance.
I will provide you with a comprehensive confirmation letter which will inform you of the fun things to do in the area as well as recommended restaurants.
In case you want to know a little bit about your hosts, we are both retired and loving it! We were the original developers of Cedar Key. We purchased it in 1983 when it was a operated as resort since the 1970's. We have loved Cedar Key and have been an active member to maintain its beauty and serenity.
My husband worked for the Farm Credit Administration for over 30 years as its Chief Financial Analyst. I was a social worker for years in the District and then worked as a Realtor for 22 years in Northern Virginia. We have three wonderful adult children who love Cedar Key. We made wonderful memories here as I know you will as well
Amazing views of the lake and mountains surrounded by deep woods. There are very few homes on the lake that have such a beautiful view. The gardens in front of the cabin are simply lovely. My husband worked hard for four years to create this magic for you! The all cedar cabin is very well maintained and always spotlessly clean. Read the reviews, everyone just loves it. It is simply charming and inviting. You will not want your vacation to end.
The entire house is for your use, including your shared dock with your next door traveler. You can drive to your dock, only a few properties on the lake have this feature or you can take the 1 minute walk. Driving is great if you have a cooler for your boat.
We have a parking lot which serves the resort community, just minutes from your front door but far enough away that you are not bothered by other travelers. There is no public transportation. Roanoke and Lyncburg airports are about equal distance.. No subways or buses, you must rely on your car.
Free wi-fi
Great cell connection
Our parking lot is just a minute to the cabin by foot. You will unload in front of the cabin and then park in the resort parking lot.
Smith Mountain is a hydroelectric lake which means the lake levels will go up and down based on electrical usage. Typically you don't notice it unless there is a big rain storm coming and they lower the lake. We have a floating dock in the cove which works great for launching your kayaks, canoes or paddle boards in case the lake is lower.
There is no trash service for our side of the lake but we do have a dump 5 minutes away. We ask all guest to take trash to the dump prior to their departure.

We enjoyed our stay at the lake. The cabin was cozy and comfortable. Our favorite thing to do was simply sit on the deck and enjoy the beautiful lake, the mountains, wildlife and the wonderful peace and quiet. Thank you Alicia for sharing your home with us.

The view from this home was beautiful! Perfect location for us and our 2 boys to enjoy the lake and some time away!

You can read the good in other peoples reviews. But here's what I DID NOT love.
Firstly, the dock for cabin 6 is pretty high off the water and there is not an easy access to the water if you are in a kayak, canoe, or paddle board. It is about 4-5 feet off the water so we had to lower everything down into our kayaks/canoes/paddle board while trying to balance in the boat and one of us standing on the dock. Then we had to lift a 85 lbs dog down into that. Not easy. Not only this we also had to drop the heavy canoe and paddle boards off this dock which was not easy. The only other way into the water with these things is over very large rough rocks that are wobbly. This was the most inconvenient thing I'd say about this location.
There was also no washer or dryer to my knowledge. I did not see it in the house description on this website nor could I find one at all in the whole house. That is quite inconvenient when you have wet lake clothes for multiple days.
There is no trash that runs out that far so you have to drive it to a nearby dump. They will not have a cleaner do it for you. Not the worst thing in the world but noted.
The last day before we were leaving I was grabbing a few things out of the kitchen before we left and saw two roaches...not what you want to see when you book a house for nearly 2000$ for 3 nights....
I think the house was fine. Not the best I've stayed at but we still had a lot of fun! Fine but i.m.o not worth the $$

The Cabin is cute, cozy and perfect for the 4 occupancy limit. It’s right on the water and the lake was clear and soo inviting. The coolest most convenient store, The White House convenience store was within 10 minutes and offers everything you need to stock up. I can’t wait to go back to the cabin.

Beautiful location — the lake is crystal clear, there is a lot of wildlife, tons of fish, and a lot to do. The host was wonderful — tons of recommendations for restaurants and other things to do. We will be back!

Very nice, clean and comfortable cabin on the lake with awesome views. Was looking forward to a quiet getaway and this place did not disappoint. Communication with the owner was excellent and there were no issues whatsoever. We highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful property. We loved how quite it is during the day, and the best part, no wake zone. The sunsets are amazing. Property owner is very responsive and even took the time to search for my lost wedding band. My wife and I truly appreciate the all around service and treatment. Highly recommend.

It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of life in this beautiful cabin! The views were breathtakingly gorgeous. The shower was divine. The mattress was so comfortable. Honestly, the best night sleep I have had since before my kids were born. My family enjoyed time spent with extended family who lived about an hour away. However, it was so much fun going back to the cabin in the evening and relaxing after our visits. My kids really loved playing the board games at night. It was amazing to witness the time they spent off their tablets. Enjoyed coffee on the porch in the morning. My kids really loved hiking and seeing the wildlife. Easiest checking in and out process ever. No massive cleaning list to get done upon checking out which is impressive! Thank you for allowing us to stay. We cannot wait to book our next visit again soon.

We had an amazing time at Alicia's cabin! She was the perfect host and provided us with all of the information we could have needed. She was easy to reach and very helpful! The cabin is great! It's well stocked and extremely clean. It happened to be a bit chilly and rainy outside when we visited, but the cabin stayed warm and cozy. We loved the electric fireplace! The cove is beautiful and so private, it felt like we were in another world! Will definitely stay again!

We are looking forward to coming back.

Beautiful location and view. A cabin in the woods, but also at a lake. Went for the changing of the leaves and it was beautiful.

Cozy cabin in a beautiful setting. The cabin it self was clean, and comfortable. The view of the lake from the deck was un obstructed, and beautiful. Short walk to dock to enjoy another view of the lake. We rented kayak"s to explore the various coves. Fished, swam and just enjoyed a peaceful vacation. Owner was a phone call away to answer any questions. Perfect!!!

We stayed in a small 2 bedroom cabin with lake access. The views from the deck were great. We were in a no wake area on the lake so the lake was perfect for kayaking and any powerboats were slow movers.

Enjoyed the view from the property, the stocked kitchen was nice. The dock and deck were a great hangout spot. Would love to return

My partner and I enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing weekend getaway with our dog. We enjoyed taking in the lake view on the patio and exploring the lake using the kayaks available to rent. The cabin is well appointed with towels, sheets, dishes, all kinds of pots and pans, and everything else you could want. The property manager, Alicia, was super helpful and responsive at every step of the way. We got all the information we needed to make checking in and out easy. Alicia was even able to offer us early check-in/late check-out. We definitely hope to come back soon!

Wonderful time visiting SML
My husband and I throughly enjoy lake vacations so decided to visit SML for the first time. Not familiar with the area we selected the cabin and couldn’t have made a better choice! From the accommodations to location and everything in between, it was a great vacation. I highly recommend the cabin. We swam off the dock daily. The no wake cove was so relaxing and quiet. We rented a boat and tooled around the lake. Wineries are close by if a break from the sun is needed. Plenty of hiking at the state park is also close. Most owners near by also bring dogs which is great if you are looking for a pet friendly place. Highly recommend!

Pure Bliss
We spent six wonderful days at this lakeside rental and it was pure bliss. When we arrived the place was so clean and spotless – kudos to the cleaning crew! A lot of care has gone into the property. The appointments throughout the cabin are thoughtful, comfortable, and homey. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots, and utensils. It was so enjoyable to have the cabin located in a no-wake zone. We could paddle board, swim, kayak, fish, and not worry about boats and jet skis zooming by. And this particular cove was great for fishing. We parked our boat at the dock which was well maintained. With the cabin at the top of the hill, we had a nice breeze in the mornings and an incredible view (the best one of all the other cabins). And the air conditioning worked great, especially in the afternoons when it was really hot. The owner, Alicia was very responsive to any questions I had. We rented paddle boards from her and it was a great deal. I highly recommend this rental property. We plan to stay here again.

The view of the place was amazing !! However the place was very dirty and cluttered.
I will not stay again due to bug bites. allergies from the dust Dirty molded towels and sheets in the bathroom. The place has never been cleaned

Gorgeous view and nicely decorated cabin
Our goal was to have a few days in an interesting remote setting with a very nice view. We got it! This cabin's outlook across the lake is very picturesque. The interior very functional, makes the space work as if it were a bigger place. And very nicely decorated. The matching stained glass windows are a brilliant touch. Coffee on the deck, under warning sun, couldn't be more pleasant.

Wonderful get away!
My children, dog, and I enjoyed a beautiful week at SML! The cabin was perfect for us...very clean and tidy and the dock was so much fun for us (including the dog) to jump in and enjoy the lake. Alicia was great to work with and responded to questions immediately. I would definitely recommend this as a rental and my kids already asked if we could return!
