Property was centrally located.

This property could be amazing but it is VERY tired and old. Every single bed had bedding with multiple holes. Flooring is ripped up in sections and the beds are very thin and not comfortable. Pillows were just gross, bring your own if you can. Kitchen was old but ok but all the pots and pans are old and rusty. The hot tub was nice and location was great. One of the two fireplaces wouldn’t work but worst was that we never got hot water the entire time we were there for a ski vacation. No one got to shower all weekend! Vacasa was responsive when texted but never actually sent anyone to fix it or do anything about it. A week later and they are still saying “someone will get back to us” but nothing was ever done. Until they can do many updates I would definitely give this a pass, especially for the cost.

Our stay was cut short due to no hot water, home was fairly clean but needs some deep cleaning (mopped floors, dusting/cob webs, surfaces washed). A deep cleaning would hopefully help the smell of “older home” go away too. Bedding needs updating too; has holes in both bed linens upstairs. Good points; large enough to have a family visit with space for everyone; view was beautiful; location is fantastic!

Overall met our needs. Happy surprise to have three bedrooms but one has totally open upper ceilings so room noise level is high. Hot tub was nice and location is great. Kitchen could use more mixing bowels and cook wear but overall met our needs. Needs updating and TLC but overall good for family with dogs:)

Loved the rustic, homey warmth of the property. We were here for a wedding at the resort but wanted family time in a quieter setting. Convenient location. Beautiful scenery. We had a great time.

This location and home SEEMED ideal… Thank goodness, the bathroom toilets, and floors were clean, even if EXTREMELY worn and outdated. The floors in the main living space and bedrooms were vacuumed, and the refrigerator and hot tub were also very clean…but that is the short list of positives. This entire house needs, at the very least, a DEEP CLEAN and more likely, an entire overhaul.
Negatives: Used coffee grounds left in the coffee maker, tea kettle very greasy, counters and table needed unwiped, cabinets - old and sticky.
Both propane tanks for the grill were empty. We called Vacasa as soon as we arrived (4:00 pm) to get new propane tanks hoping to grill steaks that night. Although we were told someone would call & replace the tanks soon, nothing.
Living room: condition of the furniture was suspect, because everything was so old - it made you wonder if the sofas were clean enough to sit or lay on. The area rug required a deep clean at the very least...or may just need to be replaced. The entry area would have benefitted from some hooks for coats, backpacks, hiking poles, water bottles, etc. -- as a result, our gear just ended up in a heap on the floor.
Bathrooms vents were disgustingly dirty -- were so filled with dust that we cleaned them ourselves! Bedroom: cheap mattresses, pillows, and bedding - we made sure not to walk barefoot since ALL carpets are completely stained. We were also asked to drive our garbage into town at end of stay? Vacasa (more to say)

Location is awesome. Very peaceful, and the cabin is decent. The cabin was not cleaned very well prior to our arrival. We spent about 5 hours upon arrival cleaning the cabin, washing bedding, and remaking the beds. Vacasa was responsive to our concerns.
Not many of the outlets in the cabin are great. Most of them are so loose the plug/charger falls out of the socket. A few of them sparked when we plugged in a lamp. The dishwasher is barely usable. The racks fall out when they’re pulled out to load/unload.
The furniture is worn. I think another review described it as college dorm quality, and that is pretty spot on. Very worn and tired. The mattresses could be replaced.
Overall, this place has a ton of potential. It doesn’t seem to be cared for or maintained to its potential though.

We enjoyed our stay very much. It was close to several excellent restaurants and activities. We would make a couple suggestions. One being offering outside seating on the deck to enjoy an evening cocktail. The other would be a hair dryer. We could not find one. Perhaps it was stored somewhere else we didn’t look. All in all we enjoyed your home very much.

Toilets didn’t work the best. The stove was really dirty but the hot tub was nice and clean. The beds old and noisy if you moved in them. The fireplace in the bedroom didn’t work and the listing needs to be updated to say gas fireplace only. A boot dryer would be a nice addition for winter activities.

House was lovely but it was a little frustrating not having a local office & dealing with an 800 #. But once property manager contacted us personally it was easier.

This place is very cozy and affordable. Generally speaking it met our needs for our stay. The chalet was very clean across the board. There were areas for improvement though. First the hot tub needed water and there was no bucket or hose avaliable to remedy this. The oven in the kitchen is very dated yet still operating. The problem we had was that the knobs are worn out and took us a substantial amount of time to get the oven preheating. Furthermore, the new grill that's advertised has been abused and is already rusted out. The propane bottle was empty as well. Finally the bathroom downstairs had a fan and heater that didn't function. Aside from these few problems that are easily fixable, it was a great place to stay and I would return in an instant.

The Vail Chalet perfectly accommodated all seven of us for our girls weekend. The hot tub was hot and clean, and lots of towels. Comfy and cozy with the fireplace. There were some lightning and electrical problems but Vacasa employees responded promptly when I contacted them. Definitely hoping to make it an annual event.

This house was fine for us. It is good size but could use some updating. But it was clean and cozy. In a nice area.

The ease of communication with property mgmt company was horrible.
We had an issue with lighting the fireplace which is the initial source of heat. I called the 800# on the site they weren’t helpful at all. Someone local from the property mgmt company for this area eventually got in touch with me directly and handled the issue. This person was awesome and kept on touch with me my entire stay. Allowed me to stay for a later checkout and compensated me for the issue.
There’s no wifi service so if your cellular service isn’t available here you will have a problem.
Not happy with the fact that we had to literally drive our garbage to a dump 2 miles away we’re from out of state and had a rental.

Place has good bones but needs some TLC.

We rented this as 1 of 3 homes to gather the family from throughout the US for our parent's 60th anniversary. Perfectly situated & walking distance from the cute town of Girdwood. Blueberry bushes abound in the back yard in July-August (I should have made a pie :-). My son & daughter-in-law loved the hot tub.

Great home
We really enjoyed our stay here. The kitchen was somewhat under-stocked but everything else was great. The hot tub was so clean and a nice commodity! Linens were nice and beds comfortable, plenty of extra blankets!

This was a great place for our family to base out of for all the winter activities Girdwood offers. There is even a great little sledding hill for the young ones!

Comfortable & Close to the slopes
We enjoyed our stay and have already looked ahead to find another opportunity to go back. The home was comfortable and just what we needed for a family trip. I appreciated being able to bring the four legged kids. The hot tub was nice after hours in sun zero temps. We read prior reviews and say that we knew what it was and it was perfect for a relaxing time in Girdwood.

Quaint
We spent 4 nights here to go snowboarding leading up to Cmas. Things we loved, the hot tub, the location, the coffee they left for us, plenty of clean towels and the washer and dryer. It was also nice having a kitchen to prepare food in. The stove was difficult to read as the settings were worn off, but we managed. Overall it’s a great little place, it could definitely use some updating but it didn’t ruin our trip by any means.

Great Place to Stay - some updates needed
A place we would go back to with a few updates.
The Good: great location, quiet, clean, lovely place.
The Challenge: The refrigerator wasn’t working well, a small fridge was there to augment the larger one. Our understanding is the new one is on order. The hot water didn’t work well (you got a 2-3 min warm shower). The staff worked to make it right but needed parts. The stove wasn’t consistent in heating.
With a little investment this could be an A+++ place. The management company was responsive to the challenges and made it right. By no means did it ruin a great trip, so much opportunity!

Met our expectations
Since we were looking for a place that allowed pets - we expected that the accommodations would be a little more "well-used" than others we have stayed at over the years - and we were right. It wasn't bad, just kind of run-down - although cozy enough. In general, the main living area was very nice and we felt quite comfortable - although the fireplace was still "under construction", and a number of the lamps had bulbs missing or not working. The kitchen was really old-school, and not really equipped to handle dinners or breakfast for a large group (6-8 people). One of the toilets was stopped up when we arrived. The refrigerator did not work (cool, but not cold - could not keep milk fresh for more than a day). However, when we called, the property management was very quick to respond, and attempted to address our issues quickly and effectively. Overall, we were happy to have found this place, and it served our needs fairly well. We were promised a 15% discount refund because of the issues we encountered - but have not seen that as yet.

Girdwood is great, and this house is beautiful with a lovely location next to a brewery and with lots of outdoors Alaska to offer!
For the price, would have expected nicer amenities. We use VRBO a great deal, and understand there are owner-related quirks, but we had reached out to ensure the fridge was fixed, and arrived to find it non-functional. Also had a toilet upstairs that did not work, and a questionable plunger, which made 6 people in one home a challenge.
However, it is a great and beautiful location, and Vacasa (the management), was super responsive. They brought us an ice-chest filled with ice when fridge not working and a better plunger. We were also told the fridge would just be replaced. So, if you are looking to book and fridge is now new and upstairs bathroom sorted, this is a WONDERFUL location! Just be sure they include the WiFi (or price reduce if not), because there is a tower there. :o)

Subject: Girdwood VRBO Review We showed up to this property and had problems immediately. The biggest one was the refrigerator, which according to previous reviews, had been an issue since March 2021 and still hadn’t been fixed. Based on our interaction with the repairman, who was very friendly and helpful, it seems that nobody had really looked at it before he did, because he diagnosed the problem pretty quickly. The Good:Location - this property is in a fairly quiet neighborhood, which is close to amenities, and Girdwood Brewing.Couches - the couches are quite comfortableTowels - there were plenty of towels in the bathrooms, and for the hot tub, which we didn’t look at.The Bad:Refrigerator - the refrigerator was plugged in, but not cool when we got there. We had brought a lot of our own food, since Girdwood doesn’t have many restaurants. We also had medication which needed to be kept cold, for the baby.. On the first night, we had to get ice from the store to keep our food cool in our cooler (which fortunately we had), but we still lost some of our food. We called, and they had a repairman come out the second day of our stay. Pretty quickly, he noted that there was a ton of frost buildup in the freezer, and that the vents from the freezer to the fridge we’re frozen solid (6-10” of solid ice build up inside). He scraped some of the ice in the freezer, and left us the tools to continue (with Covid we decided less contact would be better, and we would continue ourselves). After several hours of work on our part, we were able to defrost the entire vent system, and the fridge is now working properly. This is on the second day of our stay.Beds - the beds were not very comfortable. The one in the loft was the best. There were no blackout curtains in any of the sleeping areas. The Gas BBQ - the grill was dirty and broken. The repairman was going to clean it, but then deemed it was beyond repair, He offered to bring a small charcoal but we declined. The appliances are definitely older, the oven temp was unreliable, hard to read the stove dials, which were worn. Main heating stove is awaiting repair as is the garbage compactor. Wifi is only for the TV, our email stated there was wifi. Neither bath had working plugs. We were told we would be compensated, but as of this posting we have not.

The location was great, but...
This property has the potential to really be a gem. The location is ideal. However, there needs to be attention given to the amenities. There was no instructions or password left for the Wi-Fi. Bedrooms need to be updated, specifically the mattresses. For Alaskan summers with extended daylight, only one of the bedrooms had curtains, and they weren't room darkening. Sleep was difficult. The refrigerator was barely working keeping food cool. I tried to contact the local office but was unable to speak with anyone, being referred to a corporate number for issues. We really enjoyed our stay in Girdwood, despite the issues with the property.

Great cabin
This cabin is embedded in the woods and even though there are neighboring houses all around it felt very private. It certainly felt like a cozy family cabin. It does have older appliances, baseboard heaters, no WiFi and older furniture. However, we really enjoyed the cozy feel of this house. The cell signal is good so our hotspots allowed adults to do some work and kids to play on their devices. The futon sleeps 2 but it is located in an entrance/living room space that really doesn’t allow for privacy so it was difficult for us to have those people sleep early and some of hang out late into the night. Despite this, it was a comfortable stay and would book again for a family get-away.

Close to the Mountain
Was a nicely sized place located close to the mountain. Could use a little TLC to get it into shape, but it served it's purpose for our vacation.

kitchen appliances needs replacing
The fridge is NOT working properly, microwave takes time to heat food, The grill was so dirty and rusted it needs to go to the damp! The cabin itself looks really nice, It is just appropriate for the owner to invest in better kitchen appliances. Jacuzzi was great! Washer and drier is great and very useful.

Lovely surroundings
The house is in an awesome location. There is an easy hike to a waterfall that the kids loved and the Brewery is right down the street, which the adults loved. The jacuzzi was a fun bonus. The only things we had issues with were the refrigerator not keeping things cold and the lack of wi-fi.
