About this chalet rental
River's Edge radiates a cabin feel, yet has all the necessities of home. Rustic decor including clocks, radios & snow gear reminds you that time almost stands still here, but AppleTV and HomePods remind you to stay in the present. The river, just off the deck, drowns out any distractions from your relaxation.
Neighborhood:
This is a quiet neighborhood w/ very only a few houses. Outside the neighborhood is where all the magic happens. Check the Guidebook below for Must See, Do & Eat's. Der Baring Store is a walk down the road & Index General Store is a short drive for most necessities. Gold Bar and Skykomish are each about 10 min away with more food options. Close proximity to Stevens Pass for skiing, mt biking, hiking, getting more food, or just hanging out, people watching.

If you want to have a SMALL outdoor fire in the pit, plan on bringing wood. There is not a supply at the house. Do not pull wood from nearby properties.
The space:
The "neighborhood" has very low traffic and property is mostly very-private. Access to the river allows for fishing and splashing around during certain times of the year.
Guest access:
You can take a stroll through the quiet neighborhood surrounded by forest and wetlands. Or you can meander down to the river and have your go at skipping rocks or pulling a steelhead out with a rod. Sheds and small cabin are currently off limits. For safety sake and to prevent from further erosion, the river should not be accessed from directly in front of house.
Interaction with guests:
I will be a phone call, text or email away. I know what it's like to be bothered on a vacation and I know what it's like to need something in a pinch. I will be available when you need to help alleviate all stresses you came here to avoid.
You must also acknowledge:
Must climb stairs - Three stairs on the porch and deck, 15 stairs to the loft/master bedroom
Potential for noise - Trains. All day about one every two hours. Maybe one at night. It's pretty faint and wakes light sleepers. Bring ear plugs if you need.
Amenity limitations - You're in the mountains with variable weather. This area is prone to power outages. Gas fire & BBQ provide heat & food when power is out.
SURVEILLANCE devices on property - Ring camera to monitor driveway/porch for guest count and departure time. There is no hot tub :(

This cabin is great and very well stocked. The view off the deck is amazing. The host contacted us rite away when the power went out for a very short period of time to make sure all was well. I really appreciated that. Thank you for a great place to stay.

A really remarkable property. Perhaps the most amazing feature is spending time on the deck with the view of the river with absolutely no sign of man-made civilization in view at all. It's beautiful and peaceful and a true 'get away'. The cabin is great and well suited to families, or two / maybe three couples. The upstairs area is not closed off, so perhaps the early risers or the heavy sleepers should be upstairs. This was a great spot to do day hikes nearby and would be fantastic for skiers. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was soft. The kitchen is well equipped for putting meals together. We stayed there right after a heavy rain and flash flood warnings--the river was running fast but the cabin is quite a bit above the water so there was nothing concerning. The sound of the river was delightful. The path down to the water is a little steep for people with mobility issues. We'd happily return! Would love to see it in the snow.

Lovely spot. Quiet and relaxing. Clean and cozy cabin. Brendan (host) very responsive and helpful. We had sun, rain, sleet and snow! Amazing to watch the changes over the mountains . The small towns surrounding the area, trails, eateries make this a perfect get away location.

My friends and I had a good time together during our stay but several things about the cabin were very disappointing. No running water when we arrived...had to have instructions on how to turn it on. The water stopped working the second day we were there....but came on after a while. Touchy fireplace controls, the switch to shut off the ceiling fan didnt work. The owner was very accessible but he couldnt help with some of the problems. It was still a relaxing place to stay with the sounds of the river and we spent lots of time together, which was the main point. Overall, wouldnt go back to this particular rental.

The river runs practically right through the back yard and is stunning!

Absolutely the VRBO you are looking for! Classic, clean, and incredibly comfortable. Cabin is perfectly furnished and equipment, probably the best I’ve rented thus far!
Check in is super simple and host was easy to reach even though we didn’t need him!
Location is just about in the middle of anywhere you’d like to go. Excellent coffee is just a few miles away, with an amazing view!
Let’s not forget the friggin’ view!! Had eagle and duck visitors. Took my work meeting outside with the river behind me and made everyone super jealous!
Go ahead and rent away!! You’ll love it…plus I can’t be the only one that scoured the property for a trash bin! You’re gonna crack up when you find it!!

We stayed at this property to attend our sons wedding. The house was clean and comfortable with all the amenities one could ask for in the mountains away from a town where you have everything at your fingertips. It was wonderful to “unplug”. My only comment is I chose the house so my husband could “walk out the door and fish” and unfortunately at this property, that would never be possible as the bank to the river is unstable and too high to be able to fish from the bank. The water flowing was a most relaxing sound and though fishing was not an option, the house provided everything else we could have wanted! Thank you to the howler for sharing this beautiful home!

There was a group of six of us. The cabin exceeded our expectations in every way. The trail down to the river was the main highlight for us. Great swimming hole and beautiful views. Just watch out for the slippery clay deposit upstream! We hope to return to this cabin in the future.

Couldn't have asked for a better stay. Everything inside met our needs and more. The sound of the river carries your cares away. Would totally recommend.

Word can’t describe how perfect this little slice of Heaven is! From the impressive drive into the mountains, directly up the driveway we were immediately greeted by the sound of the river when we open the car doors. Walking into the property we were in awe of how thoughtfully decorated it was. Stepping out on the back porch the views were unbelievable. We enjoyed a great fire at the fire pit and peaceful morning coffee. A stop at the local sound bar is a must if you like beer or wine. The people we met in town were all so friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect for lots of hikes and a short hour drive through the mountains to Leavenworth. My husband and I have never felt more relaxed on vacation. I would highly recommend a stay at Rivers edge to anyone looking for a beautiful setting. The kitchen was fully equipped, and we wanted for nothing. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

My husband, daughter, and I stayed at this cabin for a portion of our vacation and loved the setting. My husband and I had our coffee on the deck each morning and were amazed at the view of the river and mountains. It is very private and quiet. The area is full of great hiking spots and multiple places to enjoy the brisk mountain river. Thank you for sharing your cabin! I would definitely stay here again.

Gorgeous Surroundings
Loved staying here. Cabin is very clean with everything you'll need for your stay. Very quiet except for trains at night. Only suggestion would be screens on the windows and sliding doors. We really wanted to open the doors for fresh air and the sound of the river but bugs would get in. Mountains across the river are very dramatic. I could sit on the back deck all day listening to the river and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Serene Stay
This cabin was perfect for our stay! It is just as described in the listing and the pictures are a perfect representation. It really is that beautiful! We thoroughly enjoyed the river view and the sound of it rushing by day and night. It was so relaxing! The kitchen is very well stocked and the fireplace was wonderful in the evenings! The location is great as we found some nice hikes close by: Lake Serene and Bridal Falls, Heybrook Ridge and Barclay Lake. Brendan was super responsive when we had a couple questions and we hope to stay again in the near future!

Spectacular Views
The location and views of this cabin were spectacular! We thoroughly enjoyed drinking coffee every morning while soaking in the view from the deck, and ending the day by fireside listening to the stream of the river!

Location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay for one week at Brendan’s cabin. Clean and comfortable. The river is spectacular! We tried fishing but we’re novices, so no fish stories… 😉 they all got away! Some reviewers mentioned the train, it’s not a problem noise at all, in fact when we did hear it we enjoyed the sound. We mostly cooked our own meals and found everything we needed for that. Tips: Maggy’s Mexican is awesome, and we’re from SOCAL where we are use to lots of good Mexican food. Also, the Thai restaurant in Sultan (get the shrimp salad!), is very good. The only suggestion would be screens for the sliding doors, the mosquitoes and flies were a pest. We sprayed ourselves daily and around the slider frames, which actually helped. We totally come back!

Excellent Choice!
Brendan is the best host! He’s responsive. and accommodating.. The cabin was delightful with a wonderful view of the river behind it. Such a delight to wake up and view its tranquility daily. We were happy we chose to stay in this peaceful location while visiting Seattle.

Relaxing Family Trip
This cabin has a wonderful, relaxing view of the river. We had a quick 2 night trip and spent most of our time at the cabin. It was rainy but we made the most of it. We were able to roast marshmallows over the fire pit. It was nice not to have to go anywhere. I would love to come back in the summer and enjoy the deck.

Stevens Pass Ski Trip
The house was easy to get to from Seattle. Fully stocked with everything we needed to have a very comfortable stay. The listing states it is right on the river and it is. What a beautiful view of the river and mountains. Such a peaceful place. Easy ride to Stevens Pass for a day of skiing.

Enjoyable weekend
We enjoyed the cabin very much, it was clean close enough to stevens pass to snowboard and leavenworth for snowmobiling. Will definitely try to book another stay possibly in summer

A great getaway
My fiancée and I very much enjoyed our time at this very peaceful cabin and although brief it was a very much needed retreat. The cabin had pretty much everything you'd need cooking wise and even a water filter. The outside is very peaceful and view of Cliffside and river is fantastic. The only thing that would have made it even better would be a hot tub on the deck as the place has a great view of the river. Communication was also really good with the property owner as he answered all questions very prompt and fast. Would definitely stay again.

Spectacularly beautiful setting
There really is a river maybe 10 or 15 yards off the back door, just beautiful! And about as close to Stevens Pass ski resort as one can get lodging. Worked very well for our ski trip

Wonderful Escape!
I searched far and wide for the perfect cabin getaway, and Brendan's property in Baring was the winner. Stunning views of the river, cozy layout, games, movies, and enough room for two other couples. As a bonus we had a flurry of snow the several weeks prior, so the dense trees across the water were extra beautiful.

Really nice cabin but high fees!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin, the riverside location and the cozy interior were the highlights. But, the fees were too high compared to the nightly rate and it took us by surprise!
