We had a fantastic week at Ambrose Lodge. This is a lovely home in a beautiful and peaceful setting. It was everything we wanted in a vacation rental and very comfortable and spacious. The home was immaculate when we arrived . We especially appreciated the well appointed kitchen. The waterfront area is amazing. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking, boating and fires in the firepit so much that we hardly left the property all week except by boat. Loved the many visits and serenades by the loons each day. I cannot say enough about our host, Pamela. She was very helpful and communicative with great attention to detail. She has thought of everything that you will need to make your stay perfect.

The Ambrose Lodge was exactly what my family was looking for. A lovely, well appointed home on the lake, in a very quiet and peaceful setting. We enjoyed waking up to the calls of the loons. We kayaked, fished, swam, and hiked during the day, and enjoyed campfires in the evening. The lodge itself was decorated in cute camp décor and had everything we wanted/needed to cook for ourselves. There were also plenty of puzzles and games available in case of bad weather. We had no desire to leave the property, although we did walk to the local ice cream stand one afternoon (highly recommend moose alley cones), and we drove around a bit looking for wildlife in the evenings (we saw deer, turkeys, a fox, geese, ducks, and loons). The owner is extremely responsive to inquiries/questions. We will definitely be back!

Great home in Pittsburg. On the water in the North country. House was everything we needed. Comfortable with plenty of space. Got to see the full eclipse. We had a wonderful time. The owner took the time to make sure everything was perfect. We highly recommend this rental!

Our stay at the Ambrose Lodge was everything we could have expected or hoped for.. Beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Spent mornings hiking local trails and afternoons reading by the lake. Evenings sitting on the deck watching the stars. A highlight of the trip was our visit to Green Acres Country Store! Wonderful! A fantastic vacation.. Thank You..

The house is immaculate, the views were amazing. We kayaked and canoed and swam and fished and had campfires, walked to get ice cream every night. The house was huge, the kitchen has every appliance you could ever ask for and all the amenities. We only had to bring food, clothes, and beach towels! The upper deck is perfect for reading a book on.
Pam was very communicative and even directed us towards where we could see moose - and we saw two! My kids were delighted!
I can not WAIT to come back!

Our stay at the Ambrose Lodge was wonderful.
The house is comfortable and well equipped for a relaxing vacation. Pamela is an excellent host, very accommodating and gracious.
We hiked, kayaked, and saw several moose and deer in Moose Alley. We enjoyed a delicious meal at the Rainbow Grille, and treated ourselves to yummy ice cream sundaes at Moose Alley Cones!
We look forward to our next visit to the Ambrose Lodge!

This is a beautiful lodge with 2 levels of living in addition to a wonderful outside lawn, beach patio, beach area, dock and fire pit. The key for our perfect vacation property was to be lakefront and this fit the bill perfectly. In addition it was totally private. Beautiful views. We got on the water with kayaks and canoe and hiked a few of the nearby trails. Downside: water was too low for us to get our fishing boat into the lakes, tried several lake boat launches. But that is uncontrollable. We had a wonderful time with our Son and daughter in law and son and girlfriend. Pamela is a great host!

Great location, fantastic lodge directly on the lake
Sitting right on the 1st Connecticut Lake with views of the undeveloped lake shoreline the lodge is well equipped with everything you would need. Kayaks, canoes, grill, firepit, outdoor patio, large deck, games, and plenty of bedrooms. Easy check-in process and great communication from owners. Managed to spend time on the lake and nearby rivers along with running into 2 moose during our stay as well.

Nice little getaway
The property itself was beautiful. The house was amazing &the lake and views were unbeatable. The stars are really clear at night. We saw the Milky Way. We stayed for the 4th and there were fireworks all around us. We took the kayaks to the middle of the lake so we could watch from all angles.
The listed stated there were 3 beds in one of the rooms, and photos show bunk beds. That's not accurate, &the kids were a little bummed about not having bunk beds. So, you are down a bed. There is a futon in the common area to make up for the missing bed. This wasn't a big deal for us, as we had more beds than we needed, but for someone staying with a bigger family this may be an issue.
The dishes were dirty. We had to rewash alot of the dishes when we got there. Pans with gunked on food, and alot of the plates and cups as well.
There was also no toilet paper or paper towels. All the bathroom had 1 roll of toilet paper and that was it. And they were not even new rolls - the bathroom downstairs was almost empty when we got there. We were told all the paper goods were supplied, so I assumed that meant toilet paper. Not a big issue - just maybe something a future guest would want to bring - as the stores over there are expensive.
There are a couple small shops around the house. A general store right at the corner, a bakery a few minutes down etc... The staff at these stores were very friendly and helpful. The bakery has some delicious cinnamon rolls. We bought a bunch for my daughters bday. They are HUGE! Definitely shareable.
To get groceries you have to venture out a little, which is fine but the staff at LaPerle's IGA are incredibly rude. This has nothing to do with the property itself but a little warning for anyone who may need to go here. We arrived on Sunday and wanted to run to the market to grab food. We arrived a little after 6 and the store closed at 6:30. We knew this and made a plan of running in quick and grabbing food for dinner and breakfast and them come back the next day. As soon as we got out of the car the MGR was outside yelling at us, and anyone who came after us to hurry up because DONT YOU KNOW WE CLOSE AT 630. When we walked in a guest walked out and warned us not to go in there because the MGR Was a D-WORD. He kept yelling at people in the isles and checking out you could hear the cashiers saying anyone who isn't checked out at 630 is SOL. We came back the next day to finish & they were still miserable and rude. Would not recommend

Snowmobile trip
The house was great, clean, nicely appointed, and well stocked. Great spot on the lake. The only challenge with the property is that the road in is narrow with trees (i have lots of new scratches on my trailer) and the trailer parking is challenging if you have a large trailer as it is tight and sloped. We were there when the conditions were very icy with some new snow and it was very difficult. I would encourage the owners to widen the drive and create an easier way to

Beautiful location and felt like home
The house was extremely well equipped as it had everything we needed, right down to all the spices. We enjoyed gathering together for meals and games. It was perfect for our party as we had two families of three people, including 2 teenagers. All of the animals watched over us and kept us company.

This is our second year at this property and we will be back as long as they let us! A perfect location to dock our boat and have the 5 kids (ages 4-9) play in the water, jump off the dock and their favorite: walk to Moose Ally for some ice cream and Treats & Treasures for some other goodies and fishing supplies.

Wonderful vacation
We had such a great time! The house is beautiful and very clean. The view is gorgeous! We hiked, fished, swam in the lake, kayaked, went searching for moose, zip lined and played miniature golf. At night we sat outside by the fire and listened to the loons. We taught our boys how to play poker and had a family poker night. Pamela was amazing! She gave us ideas for things to do close by and checked on us during the week to make sure we were ok. It was such an amazing vacation!

Perfect
This house is excellent, Pam was super nice and really does mean everything you need is there, just bring food! This was by far my wife and I’d best VRBO rental, so much so my wife booked it for a week this summer after only 2 hours in the house. Thanks so much Pam and look forward to our next trip!

Gorgeous house. Fantastic owners.
Spent 5 days at the lodge. Been going to Pittsburg NH for 4 years now. Normally stay at lopstick cabins. Definitely the nicest place I have stayed at. Only wish the WiFi was better. Wish the place had a wood burning fireplace on the inside and a hot tub on the deck.
