Sixty-five foot deck and walls of glass give views of eagles, orca whales and sailboats. New plasma flat screen, Free Netflix. Free high-speed wireless internet connection for your laptop and ipod dock for your music.
Art and Gardens:: ---Carolyn is a professional artist and you will enjoy her paintings in the studio loft and throughout the house. The gardens and grounds that surround the house will add to your outdoor pleasure and of course there is always the gentle lapping of waves on the beach.
We have several returning guests who enjoy 'Seagate' as their special vacation get-away and a great pleasure for us is making new friends through email and sometimes in person. Because of the care from past guests, we no longer ask for a damage deposit and we do not charge for cleaning. We regard our guests as 'family'. The entire house and grounds are yours to enjoy in privacy.
The Ocean: --We are located on a bay that is protected by Saltspring Island. Often there are canoe and sailboat races in the bay and during the summer we keep our own sailboat in front of the house. It is not unusual to see eagles, herons, and other birds. On several occasions, we have had orca whales in the bay and this spring, three humpback whales.
At night we often enjoy a glass of wine in the hot tub overlooking the ocean. We are in a very safe, private, quiet location with no through traffic and yet close to Victoria and local shops. At night you will most likely only hear the soft sound of waves or the call of a loon.
Vineyards: --We are located in the prime wine producing area of Vancouver Island with many vineyards just a short drive away and one of the best is just a lovely 15-minute walk from the house. If you enjoy wine, try a tasting tour of the wineries. Information will be in the house. The quaint fishing village of Cowichan Bay is only a 10-minute drive away with what our guests describe as some of the best bread and ice cream available-- and of course, seafood. Great to stroll on the docks to inspect the boats!

The house is spectacular with million dollar views. The massive terraced garden is superb. There are multiple decks and sitting areas to follow the sun around the home all day !
It is very comfortable with three spacious bedrooms and two bathrooms. The beds were most comfortable.
The house was very well appointed with anything you could wish for during your visit. It was extremely clean.
The owners are delightful and very helpful. I have no reservations in recommending this property.

A little piece of paradise ion the Cowichan Coast. Lovely hosts of a gem of a home and that fab view! We wished we had stayed longer. There’s lots to do from hiking and kayaking to exploring all the towns. Fun for all ages. If you happen to have a crab pot and a kayak- there was lots of crabbing just off the shore of the property. One of our best vacations.

First of all, I felt it was a privilege to be in such a marvelous home. Thank you to Denis and Carolyn for sharing this spectacular place for the time you're off globetrotting! :-)
We live in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge, with spectacular views from our own back yard. However, Cowichan Bay and environs left us in awe as we looked out the windows or sat on the deck. Actually, there are many areas at Seagate from which to enjoy the views -- the McDonald's must have amazing gatherings of family and friends there. Several dozen seating places are spread throughout the gorgeous property. Plus, the stairs going down to the shore was a special highlight, one of many!
The house itself has all the amenities one could ask for, but the really special part for me was the art... all the pieces collected by the hosts, but primarily the beautiful paintings done by Carolyn herself. I really can't say enough about how we loved the overall decor and furnishings for the entire week we stayed at Seagate Villa.
Because we spent pretty much every day traveling hither and yon (south to Victoria, north to Nanaimo) to the usual tourist attractions, we wound up spending only one day simply lounging around and relaxing. Had we known, we would definitely have booked Seagate for two weeks! Thank you again, Denis and Carolyn, for opening up your most lovely home like this. We really, really enjoyed it! :-)

We enjoyed the fabulous ocean views and heavenly setting. Our daughter loved the hammock. My husband loved the beach and the birds, we all loved the immaculate garden and Al fresco dining. Convenient for several vineyards (Cherry Point, Unsworth, Zanatta) where one can wine and dine very well indeed. Also farm shops notably Kilrenny are great. We would go back there at the first opportunity.

Denis and Carolyn have generously and graciously offered their home to the rest of us to enjoy. It is well equipped and ready to accommodate. The views of the water are wonderful. The moon setting over the water creates a vision we'll worth photographing. Cow Bay is a quaint small fishing village that is so fun to explore. The Masthead restaurant is a fine dining venue that we have enjoyed several times over the past several years. We tried the Cow Cafe for the first time this trip. It's a casual spot offering a varied menu. We ate there for lunch twice and we're pleased both times. Seagate offers a home away from home and is a great place to relax, as well as being well located to explore and enjoy the beautiful countryside and environment. The Thrifty grocery store nearby offers all the usual but good sushi and a great bakery and cheese selection as well. My husband tried his hand at fishing on the river at Duncan. Didn't catch any fish but enjoyed having the opportunity to try:) Enjoy your time here and thank you Denis and Carolyn!

Hello Denis and Carolyn,I just wanted to send a short note and let you know once again howdelighted we were with your home. It worked out perfectly for mymother using a walker and wheelchair as we gave her the master suite. She stayed there on her own a couple of days to rest up after one ofour intermittant excursions up island or to Victoria, and she enjoyedthe peace and quiet and of course your amazing view. My brother andhis wife from Scotland we extremely impressed and thought it was muchbetter than even the website photos portrayed. We could sit and watchthe ocean for hours, with the many boats coming and going and all thedelightful birds, so busy at this time of year. We also enjoyed thehot tub as we had one in our previous house for 13 yrs. and havemissed it since our move to town 7 yrs ago. It was wonderful watchingthe night sky and even saw several pretty intense shooting stars. Wealso went out walking a lot and had a lovely lunch at the Cherry PointWinery while out walking on our last day. I know that you have nocontrol over the weather, but it was great the whole time we werethere.I hope we left the house in good shape and did the recycling andgarbage properly. We don't have the same intensity of recycling uphere in Vanderhoof and it seems every area is a little different. Wehad an early ferry reservation from Schwartz Bay on the 18th in orderto get my Scottish relatives to YVR, so we were in a bit of a rush toget out of the house.Once again we are very sorry about the broken small Mexican piece (Ibelieve a whistle) and thank-you for being so understanding. We reallyenjoyed all of your artwork, both the ones you've collected in yourtravels and those you have done yourself. We did purchase some cardsand jewellery and left the money in the loft.We usually try to stay in a rental home when we travel as we like tofeel more a part of a community rather than a "tourist" and your placewill go down as one of our favorites.sincerely,Glen & Jesse
