This relaxing cabin is just what we needed for our 25th anniversary. Gorgeous views. Extremely quiet, especially when the closest home to it is empty. We found that we didn't even want to leave to go do things. You can spend the entire day just sitting on the porch relaxing. That's a good thing, because getting up and down the mountain is no joke. We highly recommend it, but be careful on the last 250 ft of road before the house. Extremely loose gravel on a steep grade that you have to get a run for unless you have four wheel drive.
Vicki responded to us in a timely manner.

Blue bear is a great cabin, close to Bryson City, it's everything you look forward to in a vacation, clean will maintained with excellent views... highly recommended... it's my second time staying and I'll be back again

Blue Bear is a great spot to get away in the mountains. The property is just as described in the descriptions. The cabin is well kept and a perfect spot for our family. Thank you Tom and Vicki for another great trip to Bryson City!

It’s quite a drive to the top but you are rewarded with spectacular views! House is well equipped and had everything we needed for a great stay. I do wish I would have followed recommendations from others about an SUV. While not required in non winter months it definitely would have been more appropriate for the trip up the mountain.

The cabin is great, and the view is spectacular. We stayed for a long weekend and enjoyed every minute.

This cabin absolutely delivers on mountain views, and a tasteful, premium cabin experience. Once you arrive, you will not want to leave.
Part of that is because there is are long range and unobstructed views of the mountains. When we were there, there were a few cloudy days which, of course impacts, the view- but also adds to the atmosphere and charm of the region. On a clear day, the views really do go for multiple mountain ridges into the distance. They’ve done a great job maintaining the property with beautiful landscaping, and keeping the view clear of obtrusive trees and bushes. As others have noted, it is on a mountain road. When using Google Maps, the GPS ended prior to actually arriving at the property. But the hosts gave great turn by turn directions, which we follow to get us the rest of the way there.
The other reason you won’t want to leave is because the cabin is a 30 minute drive from civilization. That’s absolutely part of the charm, but is also something that travelers should be aware of before they book this property. The hosts have done a wonderful job appointing the cabin with all the things that you might need for such a stay. The home has lots of kitchen and bath essentials, as well a grill and fire pit. However, I advise you buy groceries first, before arriving at the property.
We have only good things to say about this clean, thoughtfully appointed, and beautiful property.

The cabin was near the top of the mountain and remote. Had wonderful views that pictures can’t do justice. You will find yourself taking the same picture off the balcony each morning because of how good the view is.

What a haul to get to, but man the view did not disappoint. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary and loved this amazing cabin. Thank you so much! We hope to try out your cardinal cove one day with the family!!!

Get ready for some twisty roads but wow what a payoff! Stunning view and beautiful cabin with large private hot tub. We chose to do our exploring once a day and come back to enjoy a relaxing dinner at home. Bryson City is about 30 minutes away. Great communication with the owner. Highly recommend!

We enjoy Bryson City area with all the outdoor activities on the rivers and mountains. The ride up the mountain to the cabin is safe but once a day round trip was enough for us. Our family had a great time all was quiet and comfortable.

Blue Bear cabin provides one with a beautiful, tranquil, get away. Once we pulled up to the cabin, we never left till the day we checked out. We couldn't take our eyes off the breathtaking views. Talk about a relaxing vacation! Blue Bear delivers!

This was our second trip to the Smoky’s and was great. The cabin is beautiful and the view is spectacular! Communication with the host was flawless. Highly recommend a stay here. Will say you need to bring a vehicle with a little bit of ground clearance. It was a little tricky getting our car up there but was worth the effort. Doesn’t have to be 4wd but not low to the ground. We got up there with a Camry.

The quietest cabin I've ever been in. Nothing but the wind blowing thru the trees and bird sounds and awesome view. Cabin has all your needs, comforts and more. Expect the normal mountain rds. The drive up is 50/50 blk top and gravel if you're driving a sports car, I had NP in my C7. If you're wanting to go to the Dragon. There's a carwash in Bryson.

Awesome Views!
Well thought out accommodation!
Everything you need for an Awesome Stay!
Just bring the food you want before you make your way up Alarka rd. The drive back down the Mtn is tIme consuming.
I would recommend 4 wheel/AWD SUV type vehicle! And turn left into Alarka Highlands!

The view was absolutely spectacular, even on rainy days. We loved the porch, the hot tub, the fire pit, the game in the loft and of course, the view!

My fiance and I rented this property to celebrate our 20 year anniversary as a couple which turned into our elopement! Pictures just don't do this property justice. Everything about our stay was truly amazing. The views are simply incredible and one of the greatest parts of our stay. The route to the cabin from town is roughly 25 minutes, so make sure you stop by the Ingles grocery right in town before making your way through and up the mountain, otherwise cabin is fully stocked with all the essentials (dishes, soap, spices, coffee, etc) It is a beautiful drive, but note the drive from the Alarka community entrance is a bit steep and windy....but the views are WORTH IT!!!!! I can see why 4 wheel drive might be necessary in the winter. We enjoyed learning how to play the Dutch Shuffle Board in the upstairs den! Recommend all the nearby waterfalls, Road to Nowhere, local shops and dining, but most importantly just relaxing and admiring thr cabin views. Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable stay for our 20 year anniversay/honeymoon!!

The cabin was exactly as described, and the view was amazing! The kitchen was very well stocked compared to other rentals I’ve stayed at, there were pots and pans to cook most anything! Everything felt very special, we will definitely be coming back to the blue bear!

Loved, loved, loved our stay at the Blue Bear. It is exactly as pictured in the photos on this site — and has everything you could want for a week’s visit except for food. (There are, however, coffees, creamer, sugar, and spices on hand.) The view is as every bit spectacular as guests have described — and can change by hour as weather patterns develop. The sunsets were our favorite part, but we also enjoyed some of the day trips recommended by the hosts. Prior to the trip, we had been a bit apprehensive about how our front wheel drive Prius would handle the trip up the mountain, but it did just fine. If there was snow, however, I would want something with all wheel drive.

The Blue Bear Cabin was so incredible, that we decided to take one of our 2 full days there and stay in and just enjoy the cabin! I could go on and on, but trust me when I tell you, everything was just perfect, comfortable, and beautiful!!! And the view......this place must have the best view of the mountains within a 50 mile radius! Don't look any further.....make your reservation at Blue Bear!

We loved our recent escape to Blue Bear Cabin where the eye-level view of the mountains from the deck and hot tub is breathtaking and peaceful! Equally peaceful and inviting is the cozy comforts of this incredibly clean, well-maintained and spacious cabin. In fact, it didn’t take long for it to feel like a home away from home. Tom and Vickie really thought of everything to ensure guests have all the comforts of home! The wonderful cedar smell and relaxing cabin decor make it the perfect mountain destination. I highly recommend this property for anyone wanting to avoid the heavy traffic and large crowds of tourists in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The cabin isn’t far from the quaint city of Bryson City and the Smoky Mountain National Park. You can’t go wrong with this secluded mountain gem!

Very nice 2 bedroom cabin on top of a mountain with a great view. Just right for 2-4 people. Wish we could of stayed there longer. The long drive up mountain was fun. The cabin and hot tub were clean. Used the grill every night. Didn't watch a minute of TV. Perfect 3 day weekend.
