Lovely people, we got some great advice from them on activities. The place itself was great, nice beds, good kitchen, clean bathrooms and a very nice location.

Two old fogies used to their creature comforts seem to have stumbled into a true young backpackers venue! Warmly and enthusiastically greeted by Stuart who runs a very efficient and well kept establishment, we had a very small room in which we could barely move around. The facilities in the room were minimal and there was no room for luggage. There is a comprehensive kitchen area in another block, which also contains showers and loos, all perfectly clean and serviceable - but probably not for us. Overall, good value for money
I think the answer is contained in the above statement - we were two misfits in what is a great venue for young people.

Great location surrounded by lots of nature; great terrace; additionally there are a comfy lounge where you can watch a great sortiment of DVDs as well as a hammock to enjoy looking at the stars. Host is very friendly and helpful and has a lot of useful tips.

We had a double bed cabin which had a lovely outside deck overlooking the forest. Everything was very clean and the kitchen facility was very good

Kanuka Ridge Lodge is centrally located in Marahau. Lovely lodge and exactly as described. Stu was particularly helpful and friendly and a delight to meet after a long day of hiking. While we spent our time here learning about Kea’s we enjoyed teaching Stu a thing or two about Kia’s.

The location and the friendly helpful owners. The property is peaceful and well maintained.
The lack of space for our bags and no fan as the room was quite hot.

location out of the road, no phone network, however, very good wifi

Very nice, clean and quiet place. We really felt welcome! The bed was very confortable, the kitchen was perfect for cooking a lot of kitchen tools and relaxing atmosphere. We will probably be back for our next hike trip in Abel Tasman.

staff, location, cleanness and the lounge
we stayed the family room with garden view, which include a double bed and a bunk bed. the room itself was quite small and hard to open two luggages. The bunk room made squeaky noise.

Clean room and comfy bed. Very quiet and peaceful even though our neighbours rooms were very close. Shared facilities were good: lounge with tv (no tvs in cabins) and well equipped shared kitchen, although there was kettle and tea and coffee in cabins. Host very welcoming and helpful with regard to local information. A good balance between back packing and private accommodation. Able to park close to cabin easily. Very very dark at night! We would have enjoyed seeing the stars if it had not been cloudy on the night we stayed.
Don’t go here expecting private self catering studios or hotel style rooms! There was nothing we did not like, and we would be happy to stay again.

Beautiful surroundings in the middle of the Bush. Great cooking and bbq facilities. Comfy beds. Quiet at night. Great view of the stars and moon on a clear night right outside your cabin.
Not an issue for us but you would need to do a short drive (less than 10 minutes) if you want to get groceries/eat out as not within walking distance. Rooms are small (again not an issue for us).

Clean and tidy. Friendly staff
Basic facilities. Some facilities are shared.

it was quiet and clean. also walkable to the town. it was quite nice being out of the way and not in the centre. with shared facilities it was nice not to have to wait for the shower or anything too.
the room was small with suitcases but not a big deal. having somewhere to put stuff in shower like a shelf or somewhere to put dry clothes In the shower would’ve been useful. as they get quite wet.
