About this house rental
The retreat at Fernglen is at the very end of a private cul-de-sac. You will cross a private bridge into a secluded wooded oasis. There is a small pond with water features, a fire-pit, and picnic tables in the grass to enjoy as well. The driveway loop will lead you to the house with ample parking on the side for multiple vehicles.
The entire property is almost completely surrounded by trees, shrubs, and a stream that will run when it rains. The beach is just moments away and easily walk-able within 1-2 minutes. The home has three levels with a large deck on the second level with a smaller deck off the primary bedroom.
Ocean views can be seen through the trees on the top two levels. Each floor has a full bathroom. The bottom floor offers two private bedrooms with a full bed, and the other with two twin bunk beds. There is a futon available in the pool table room as well if needed. The second floor offers a kitchen and open layout connected to dining and living area. The primary bedroom offers ample room with seating as well.
There are incredible views of the forested landscaping, small pond, and the ocean beyond. It is hard to beat waking up and sitting on the private deck enjoying some coffee while listening to the the ocean beyond. This home is great for families, pet friendly, down the road from Salishan golf course and has so many amenities it is truly unparalleled.

Spent four nights with adult children and grandchildren at Fernglen, and we couldn't have been happier with the location and the house. This is the first house we've rented at the Oregon Coast that didn't have close neighbors, and it truly is like being in a small forest. The house is spacious and comfortable, and the property has a small pond, swings for the kids, a fire pit (a burn ban prevented it's use), a hot tub, and ample parking. It's just a short walk to the beach and beautiful sunsets over the water. We hope to visit again!

The location is wonderful. The place was clean. But it is in need of some serious updating. The jacuzzi had cloudy water. The overall interior and exterior needs some major TLC. Very over priced. But wonderful location and a minute walk to the beach.

We spent 3 nights with our children and grandchildren and the house was perfect. The house was clean and ready for our arrival!! The hot tub was a big hit!! Short walk to a very nice beach with easy access. We love the private yard and lots of parking! Great place for children!!

Had a great time staying at Fernglen Forested Beach Retreat, it was perfect place for our family to stay. We loved the beach access with an easy walk to a quiet non-crowded beach. The house is close enough that you can hear the ocean from the deck or inside if the windows are open, but it still had a forest feel with the trees and foliage around the property. We could play at the beach and then come back to roast marshmallows in the firepit. Also loved the layout of three levels with bedrooms on each, so that everyone felt like they had their own space. Finally it was conveniently located about half way between Depoe Bay and Lincoln City so we could easily explore both.

We LOVED this house! It’s perfect for a couple families, ones with kids etc. The property is beautiful and all the big windows and decks are just amazing!
The house was stocked and kitchen had a lot of items most don’t. Everything was wonderful!
The short walk to the beach was just what we love and the families and kids had a blast daily. We would come back again for sure!

Really enjoyed our stay at this location. It was so close to the beach, the layout is great for groups, the hot tub was awesome. The trash cans were full, we found some wrappers under one of the beds, and the felt on the pool table is damaged. It’s also a little tricky to get to - would recommend they include instructions with their welcome letter since the three navigation apps used by our group couldn’t get us to the location correctly. We all said we would consider staying again though. It’s spacious both inside and out, plenty of parking, loved the make-up towels, the welcome wine was a nice touch, and the fireplace was lovely. Basically everything you really need was provided for a great stay near the ocean.

We will stay again. It is perfect for a young family and pets. The setting is beautiful with the pond and yard/picnic area. We walked to the beach. And were able to reserve a tennis court over at Salishan Resort.

This property was perfect for our family. Everyone had their own floor w/bathrooms! lol that is crucial. We could open our windows and hear the ocean - sooo peaceful! The wooded retreat was still literally a 5 min walk to the beach. We loved it!

We loved our stay. The house was clean and comfortable in every sense.
The kitchen was well stocked They even provided a good ground coffee provided and a nice bottle of wine, although we didn’t use it much, there are so many wonderful restaurants close by. Our favorite was the Side Door Cafe just a skip away from the house. We went there each night.
If you wander further down the highway be sure to check out The Clearwater in Newport. Wonderful fresh food and exceptional service.
The beds are comfortable and the view from the upper floor is lovely.
The hot tub was ready to use but for some reason we didn’t. Idk…
Plenty of towels and additional bedding if needed, and good laundry facilities.
We loved coming in after a late dinner and watching a movie before tucking in for the night, with the window cracked so I could listen to the ocean.
Make this trip. It’s a good stay.

This house and property is amazing. It has so much space and there are plenty of things to do even if the weather is not good. The view isn’t as good as it used to be because trees and houses have been built. But it is close to the beach you can hear the waves crashing. I will definitely go here again sometime. :)

This home is gorgeous in spots and yet has charm of years past in other spots, new modern kitchen, beautiful master bedroom with the most comfortable king bed and a view that is worth just moping around all day. Dated bathrooms but who cares in light of the rest. We were stuck between modern now and the 70’s. We loved it,

My family and I loved our time spent at Fernglen. The location was great and an easy drive to several beaches and towns. It is just a short walk to the beach. The privacy was amazing, the grounds are rainforest like. It was incredibly peaceful and the beds were comfy. We will be back!

Clogged master tub drain. Broken coffee maker. Previous tenants hair on furniture and on walls of showers. A bed in he garden filled with empty wine bottles. Litter on the grounds. Hot tub was unusable:sand and cloudy water. Broken deck chair. Broken reading lamp in the master bedroom because of “wiring”. Outlet in the living room needed to be duct-taped because of faulty wiring. Pictures showed an outdoor picnic table with an umbrella that simply wasn’t there. Not a single screen on any of the house’s windows. The worst place I’ve ever rented.

This home is exactly as pictured and described. It was well appointed and stocked with everything you need. The space was very nice for kids and felt inviting. There were lots of games and books and dvds for the kids to get excited about. The hot tub was hot and very clean and the kitchen had anything you would need to cook any meal. The main floor could feel a little small but with all the space outdoors and the billiards room there was plenty of space to spread out. You can’t beat the location and it felt very private in a quiet friendly neighborhood. We all felt very welcome and would love to stay there again.

My husband and some of our extended family (9 total) stayed here for a 3 day vacation. The house is in a very private and secluded setting yet a close walk to the beach. No complaints except the first night we heard a very loud water hammer every time anyone used any water. I called iTrip the next day and they were very responsive. They were going to send a service person out to investigate, but the noise eventually stopped so it wasn’t necessary. The only other comment is bring your own foil, plastic wrap, etc., as there isn’t any at the house. Other than that the kitchen was well stocked and equipped. The house and furnishings are not fancy but very comfortable, there’s lots of light and the upstairs master suite is very spacious. The deck was great for enjoying the nice weather we had. There was plenty of parking as well. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Our family consisted of 9 adults, three of which were over 6' 2". The listing was for 10 people. The virtual tour shown and the still pictures shown did not match. We did manage to squeeze them into the bunk beds, plus one slept on the couch. The futon is more for a child.
The pool table had a torn velvet playing area. There was a leak under the master bathroom sink. The windows had no screens and to my eyes as well as my other lady guests, the cleaning staff did not do a very good job. And since there is quite a substantial cleaning fee charged , I expected a better job. Another evening we were going to BBQ but the grill was so dirty that we changed plans. Since there was no grill brush we could not clean it. Used aluminum foil trays we bought to cook on. Also there needs to be a inventory of kitchen tools or let people know they need to bring their own.(i.e.) not one spatula. Bless my daughter-in-law for reminding me to think of it as camping. There were some nice features but need to be enhanced to make this a really a special retreat worth the price paid.
It seemed as if the owners were not prepared for guests yet.

Overall we had what we needed for our stay and the time we spent as a family was not impacted by the quality of the house. The property manager was very responsive (within minutes) anytime there was a question or issue. And the proximity to the beach and hot tub were great. However, this property needs some MAJOR improvements and is a far cry from a 5 star rating. The kitchen is lacking drinking ware (especially wine glasses - there only 2 of them), plates and bowls and the refrigerator is missing the produce drawers. The bathroom on the main floor does not have any towel racks but it's obvious where the rack was hanging as there are holes in the wall where the anchors pulled out. The bathroom downstairs can hardly be called a full bath as the sink is a utility sink that is part of the laundry room and (again) there were holes in the wall where the toilet paper rack used to be. None of the bathrooms have fans. The wall heater downstairs was dangling off the wall and did not produce any heat. There was also a pile of trash (mostly candy wrappers) stuffed inside the pool table. The information binder did not contain updated information regarding recycling (there was none provide by the house) and it had zero information on how to get to the beach. Of course we were able to figure it out but it would be a nice touch to include for guests. I will not be staying at this property again.

Book this for my birthday so my family could come. We had a great stay! The place was cozy and a nice little walk down to the amazing beach!
Has a cute yard and plenty of parking for us all. The master bedroom was amazing!! Great place to stay!!

Location, Location, Location. The best part of this rental is its location. Property is a large lot in a forest setting, including a small koi pond. It is an easy drive to Lincoln City, Newport, and Depoe Bay and only a short 3 minute/2 block walk to the beach. Kitchen is updated and well stocked. Bedrooms best for 3 couples with 4 kids. Kids enjoyed the swing-good for small children, but could fail with a larger child or adult (support is 2X6's nailed into a tree). The rest of the house looks like a Beach Rental house, which is fine for a short stay, but might not work for an extended stay.

Near beach - nice place
This is an older house with lots of character- we liked the multi levels and the decks. It is a short walk to the beach. There is really nowhere to sit 10 people all together for meals or game time. But our group was okay with that. The hot tub was great and we sat outside a lot. We would rent this house again!

GREAT place, short walking distance from the beach, lots of parking, tucked in the wooded area away from apartment building and other neighbors.

Family retreat
Great property! Perfect for young families. Not suggested for anyone that has trouble with stairs. Enjoyed the 3 different levels with a full bath on each level.
Wonderful location to beach, Salishan for golf & shopping, Side Door Cafe for fine food.

This house is in the perfect location and so cute!
We had a great time in this adorable house, walking distance to the beach and a cute little bar down the street. Very clean, had everything we needed for all 8 of us. Hot tub was very clean. The yard is amazing, felt like we did not have neighbors because of all the plants and fire pit area. The windows in the house are huge, fun to just sit there a d look outside after a long day. The pool table made for fun times on the evening. This might be an annual event!

Great Location, needs a kitchen reset
We had 3 generations staying at this rental. The space was great, the pool table was fun and a great diversion with the weather, and the property was quiet. The teens were able to stay up later without keeping anyone else up, there was plenty of space. We all found the artwork throughout the house interesting. The beds were comfortable.
The property management company was responsive when we reached out about the appliances not working. While the rest of the house seemed well stocked with towels and bedding and such, the kitchen was not well stocked for cooking and for the number of people staying in a house this size. Besides having issues with the microwave and dishwasher, there weren't enough dishes (plates/bowls) or cooking utensils. We ended up buying spatulas at a thrift store and additional plates. It really needs to have a thorough inventory and reset.

Perfect Location
I loved the location. Beach access was a quick walk, not crowded at all. The views from the top room were amazing! All items we would have needed were there, plenty of towels for many people. Unfortunately the microwave and dishwasher didn't work. A lot of dishes between 12 people and a lot of time spent washing dishes. Reheating food on the stove or in the oven was a bit of an annoyance as well. Contacted the lady via text and she responded quickly. Unfortunately nothing could be done during our stay to fix either. Great location to Newport, depot bay and Lincoln city.

Totally mediocre experience
Just a completely mediocre and forgettable stay.
- The house itself was just not that great condition-wise. It was definitely showing its age all over the place, and I realize that this is in more of a secluded-type area near the beach, but we've stayed at places in similar locations and they were in nicer condition than this. There wasn't anything egregiously horrible to point to, but just the general condition of the place was - to put it kindly - well-used.
- There was a hilarious sign in the front of the house that said the maximum occupancy was 14. The reason this was hilarious was because we discovered that if 2 people took showers within 10 minutes of each other, all the hot water would be gone. I guess 14 can stay here if they don't need to bathe, which brings me to
- The bedrooms were stinky. There's no other way to put it. It wasn't just my bedroom, but all of them. Maybe there actually were 14 non-bathing people who stayed in here before us. We all had to do a load of laundry to wash our sheets and that helped a little, but there was still a lingering odor of God-knows-what - some sort of hellacious blend of body odor and general mustiness. My family generally gives little nicknames to vrbos we stay at so we can keep them all straight, and this one will likely go down as 'the stinky one'.
- The dishwasher was broken from the time we checked in. It wouldn't finish a full load and would just leave standing water at the bottom of the dishwasher. Gross. To the property manager's credit, when we called in this issue, they sent over a repairman the very next day. On the other hand, the repairman's 'fix' didn't end up actually fixing it at all, but hey, I appreciated the effort.
- The pictures on the listing are a bit deceptive - this place is not nearly as secluded as it looks. There are trees and brushes surrounding the house, but immediately on the other side of those trees and brushes are houses, parking lots, etc.
- One good part was that the house is a very close walk right to the beach, so that was nice. Also, the property itself had some nice benches and areas in which to sit and relax.
- Oh, and one other hilarious sign I saw in the house said 'we view anything less than a 5* review as unsatisfactory for us'. Well if that's the case you would think they would put forth a little more effort into actually earning a 5* rating. We've given 4* and 5* to other vrbos we've stayed at, but this one was the worst.

Fun stay!
I would not call this property young toddler friendly, but it is maneuverable for that if you are ready for it. Lots of stairs for kids to enjoy or possibly tumble down if they are very young. Bring baby gates and be ready to stay on your toes with real young ones here.
Over all, we really enjoyed this location and separation of levels in the home, the place is private yet close to everything
I have to imagine it takes some work to tend to every room and level for a cleaner and they did an outstanding job having it clean and ready for us.
Super easy check in and out
We will return one day when the kids get a bit older !
We would highly recommend this place for a group adventure and fun stay!

Perfect Beach House!
A huge property, a lot of privacy, a couple minutes casual walk to an almost completely empty beach, great for dogs, a lot of charm and character. We will definitely come back here again. Amazingly comfortable and relaxing. Thank you so much.
