About this house rental
For the 2024 season, owners, Frank and Sue, have updated Red Meadow Lodge with many improvements that guests will love!
Bring the friends and family! Load up your raft and fishing poles! Red Meadow Lodge offers space for larger family groups to enjoy a wilderness experience on the edge of Glacier Park. For groups with RVs, please send a message to Karina, our property manager, detailing your group situation for a custom price quote.
Located 5 miles north of the small community of Polebridge, the Lodge offers a unique glimpse of a life most of us have forgotten. It sleeps 6 adults comfortably in beds and there is a hid-a-bed sofa in the master suite. The over-sized sleeping porch provides the opportunity to bring your sleeping bag and sleep under the stars.
Rustic and spacious, the lodge was hand built over 40 years ago with local materials much of which came from the property. The Sue family felled trees and hand-milled them into lumber, they collected stone and developed the spring which provides gravity fed water to the property.
The Lodge features include solar power with generator back up. Propane powers some your lighting, hot water, refrigeration and cooking needs. Battery powered lights, flashlights and battery powered fans are also available.
Located on 15 acres bordering the North Fork River, Red Meadow Lodge sits close to the edge of the river's high bank, affording spectacular views of the NW corner of Glacier National Park and the Canadian Rockies. Bear, moose, wolf and deer frequent the area. Watch bald eagles fish the river and delicate hummingbirds flit around the Lodge enjoying all the flowers. Take a book and enjoy the hammock and the kids will love the swing. You may even hear one of our local wolf packs in the late evening as you snuggle in a sleeping bag out on the porch.
The property offers private road access to the North Fork River allowing you to float and fish right out the door. Put in at one of the launch locations to the north and pull out at the Lodge or put in just below the Lodge and float to Polebridge for dinner at the Saloon or a fresh-baked huckleberry bear claw at the Mercantile.
Enjoy dinner by candlelight at the antique dining table or take in the views from the picnic table and fire ring just steps from the Lodge. The large fire ring, is well stocked with chairs, firewood and hot dog roasting sticks. It easily accommodates a crowd for a fish fry or BBQ at the end of a day on the river. Or just relax and let the kids roast marshmallows while twilight paints the mountains shades of blue and purple.
For cooks, in addition to the fire ring, propane and charcoal grills are provided and the kitchen features a wood cook stove and a four burner propane stove with oven there is a wrap around bar which invites you to pull up a stool and visit while dinner is cooking. There are two propane refrigerators/freezers to store your groceries and drinks and the cabinets are well stocked with dishes.
The living area is cozy and its shelves lined with fascinating books and games from the owner's personal collection. If you're a book lover, accept the invitation to quiet afternoon with old-fashioned entertainment stacked at your elbow or play a game of charades! We've especially stocked the bunk room with a toy chest, games and books just for the kids.
The large master suite features a king bed and a hide-a-bed couch with views of Glacier Park. It has it's own wood stove for cool mornings or evenings and an air conditioning unit for warm summer nights. There is a 1/2 bath. The west bedroom opens on to the sleeping porch, you may bring sleeping bags and hold a slumber party! If you're lucky, you'll see the Northern Lights or hear the wolf pack before the sound of the river lulls you to sleep.
COVID-19 Update:
A clean and safe environment for our guests / staff is of utmost importance. Additional cleaning procedures remain for our 2024 season. High touch surfaces are sanitized and the property thoroughly ventilated and cleaned before you arrive.

Our stay at this secluded cabin near Glacier National Park was nothing short of magical. Tucked away in a quiet, forested area along the North Fork of the Flathead River, the cabin provided the perfect off-the-grid retreat without sacrificing comfort.
From the moment we arrived, the rustic charm and warm, welcoming atmosphere of the cabin made us feel right at home. It was well-equipped with all the essentials, plus thoughtful touches like a wood-burning stove and an extensive collection of local guidebooks, books, and maps.
The cabin's location was ideal for exploring the breathtaking scenery of Glacier National Park. One morning, we spotted a mountain lion on the trail that leads down to the river—a truly memorable sighting.
We have stayed in many rental houses, some of them more modern and comfortable, but this one is unique because it has a soul, which is so rare!

Take the road less traveled and away from the crowds. This place has breathtaking views right from your bedroom window. Morning coffee while overlooking the river and wilderness all around. Loved it and made some lifelong memories.

This is a fabulous location overlooking GNP and the North Fork of the Flathead river. Gorgeous, peaceful views everywhere on the property. The house has everything you need and has a comfortable, cozy, and 'wilderness' vibe you won't find in many places. Stock up on groceries beforehand though, as the Polebridge Mercantile has limited selection and its an hour drive to Columbia Falls/West Glacier

I only have positive things to say about the Red Meadow Lodge and Karina the property manager. I went there with my wife and three teenage sons. For those of you with kids, you know that getting away from devices is difficult to do. But this property gives you a chance. No TV, which was great. The Starlink internet is there and works well, but we only used it for figuring out activities for that day and I believe they will turn it off if that's your preference. Loved that it sat on the north fork of the flathead....we brought inner tubes and floated down to Polebridge (about an hour and a half float with late July water levels). We loved sitting in the chairs overlooking the river and the GNP mountains in the distance. We loved that we were close to the North Fork section of the park. I highly recommend a late evening visit to either Bowman or Kintla Lake...very few people there in the evening. And as mentioned, Karina was super responsive to all the questions we asked....even those that were already covered in the property user guide. Again, five stars and I would definitely stay there again.

This remote property is perfect for a busy family to get away from technology and connect! The house is well stocked and clean. The views are worth the drive and we found the roads to be easy to navigate. This place is a must for your Glacier vacation!!

Red Meadow Lodge was a perfect experience. We wanted experience Montana life in a rural setting and this delivered. The house was better than described and the views were stunning. Zero complaints.
The Polebridge / North Fork community was welcoming as well. And once construction is completed on the Inside North Fork road the Polebridge entrance to GNP will be perfect.
We will stay here again and highly recommend.
Thanks to the owners and staff for a terrific stay.

Our family had an incredible stay at Red Meadow Lodge. The river access was great to have and you are 10 minutes from the Polebridge Park entrance. Well appointed lodge with everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Check with the host to see what is needed as we left many extras behind (dish soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, etc). Host and owner are extremely friendly and helpful. Stop up at Polebridge and rent your watercraft to use on the river. We are already planning our next visit.

Amazing location if you are looking to get away from the rat race of everyday life. Being off grid it might not be for everyone, but for those that are looking for peace and solitude it is amazing. We enjoyed the outside deck and listening to the stream in the distance. Kitchen is well stocked. We were there during the hottest part of the year and the wall AC unit was very nice to cool down the upstairs. We would definitely stay again!

This property is absolutely gorgeous. The view is incredible and the lodge is clean and organized. My husband and I were celebrating our 30th anniversary, and there was a note and bottle of wine waiting for us! They provide laundry supplies and paper products and ask you to leave them a note if anything seems low so they can restock. I loved that! The cabin is “off the grid” and it about 10-15 minutes to reach Polebridge and the North Fork entrance into the park and about 30 minutes or so to reach the Camas Creek entrance. We personally did not mind this because the drive is lovely.

House beautiful. Property overlooked the forest and river and was quite stunning. The only issue was the hkuse had mice. You could hear and see them after bedtime and made for less than adequate sleep. If that gets fixed, would recommend. But way to expensive per night to have a mice infestation.

We had a lovely stay at Red Meadow Lodge. It was very relaxing, and the on site fishing access was a major plus for us. The lodge has everything you need, with plenty of places outside to enjoy the view. The master bed was very comfortable and being "off the grid" was not an issue. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

We absolutely loved our time at Red Meadow Lodge! The cabin was amazing and worked perfectly for the four of us. It was spotless and we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. Beyond that, the outside space was beyond description. The views were fantastic and although we couldn't use the fire pit due to the fire danger, we enjoyed our time outside just watching the beautiful scenery. We were able to see rainbows two evenings and they appeared to end right on the property--which was appropriate. The hiking and trips to Polebridge were also a highlight. We hope to be back for another relaxing stay!

Just right for us. This was our first trip to Montana. It was remote which was awesome. The drive to West Glacier was quick. Thank you for making our son's senior trip so fun.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I wasn’t sure what to expect in booking an “off the grid” location, so I know how helpful reviews are in making that decision. My family and I had a wonderful time at this cabin (once we finally got there)! I would definitely check with the property manager ahead of time to confirm the exact directions from whichever airport you would be coming in from and print those off. There is NO cell service. I was initially concerned that we may run out of electricity or water with too much use, but we did not have any issues with that with our normal usage. The views from this cabin are so incredible and there are so many areas to enjoy them from! We had such a great time here! We would definitely love to stay here again!

Tranquil property and cabin. We loved the outdoor cooking equipment, the fire pit, and big round exterior dining table. Master bedroom was terrific. Kitchen had all the amenities and bathrooms very contemporary. We will definitely like to stay again.

Simply amazing!
This was one of our very favorite places that we have EVER stayed! The lodge was immaculate and the amenities were abundant. Every turn we made we were impressed. We have three boys (8, 11, 13) and our family made the best memories fishing, playing games, stargazing, and enjoying our surroundings and the view by the campfire. We will recommend this to all that we know heading to the Glacier area.

Solitude
We had a wonderful time. It was refreshing to get away from the daily rat race and unplug from our devices. The teenagers played board games and had a blast. The cabin and the scenery it provided were amazing. We come to Glacier every year and this was our most favorite stay.

Amazing place with unbelievable view
The check in process couldn’t have been easier. The manager helped us out immediately when we unfortunately locked ourselves out. The home was very clean and couldn’t have been in a better spot. Loved every minute there.

Perfect Off the Grid
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Red Meadow Lodge. It was great for our family to be unplugged and enjoy the area.
The house is very well appointed and is classically rustic with just the right amount of modern convenience. The property is great for the kids to explore or just to relax on the deck or around a fire.
The property manager was great and the owner was very kind. Great folks!
Don’t be afraid to explore the surrounding region as it offers a lot of adventure. We would not hesitate to return.

Beautiful setting and view! Remote location. Rustic but very nicely updated cabin. Plenty of towels! Plenty of good quality cooking gear! Good water pressure and plenty of hot water! And, the property manager Karina was always prompt with responses and good info! Stay here!

We had an awesome time. There are so many things to do in glacier but staying and relaxing at this cabin was at the top of our list.
Wonderful views!

Amazing and tranquil getaway
This place truly is amazing! It was difficult coming home from this beautiful spot. Really tranquil. The house is perched above the Flathead river with amazing views of the river and the peaks of West Glacier from both the front room and master. The house is very functional and well thought out especially for being off the grid. It was very clean and neat and well stocked with all the staples. Sitting around the fire pit above the river at night is the best! And don’t miss The Mercantile in Polebridge. Karina was really responsive to any questions we had and gave us great information on the surrounding area. We definitely plan on coming back.

The Whole Experience
I only wish that our stay had been longer. My boyfriend and I spent the weekend here at Red Meadow Lodge, and we fell in love immediately. Not only is the lodge in a beautiful, secluded area with incredible views, smells and sounds; but the cabin itself is an absolute gem. They have truly thought of every detail, and I found myself constantly smiling at each little thing I discovered as the trip went on. I highly recommend sipping a cup of hot tea (with honey purchased from the Polebridge Mercantile- another must visit) on the sleeping porch, taking a walk down to the river bank and playing a game of Montana-opoly with your loved ones. We had been dreaming about this trip to Montana for a long time before finding the Red Meadow Lodge, and we could not have imagined a better experience. We look forward to our next stay here. Thank you -so- much.

Best Place We’ve Ever Stayed
I absolutely loved Red Meadow Lodge. It was a slice of heaven on our trip to Montana/Glacier. On our last day, we decided to just hang at the house instead of trekking into the park again. I’m so glad we did, because we saw a wolf in the morning slowly walking along the banks of the river. I couldn’t believe it.
We had a wonderful time fishing at the river, star gazing on the deck, sitting by the fire, and snoozing in the hammock.
Book your reservation and Don’t think twice.

Stunning and unique cabin!
I stayed at the cabin with my husband while we were visiting Glacier NP, and we both agreed that of all our travels, this is our absolute FAVORITE cabin we have ever stayed at! It is so unique and well constructed and decorated - there was always something to look at, without being cluttered. My favorite spot was the sleeping porch - we spent a night under the stars, with owls calling and bats flying overhead. Just perfect! My husband's favorite spot was the adirondack chairs overlooking the river, where we were lucky enough to watch a small grizzly come by and then swim across! We loved the privacy of the cabin, and it was close enough to Polebridge that we drove there a few times for coffee and pastries. I can't say enough good things about this place - it is truly exceptional and absolutely worth staying here!

9 days of fun with family
We arrived with easy check in and found an abundant amount of items to enjoy on our vacation ( spices, foil, saran wrap, paper plates, plastic cups, napkins, paper towels, and a great amount of cooking utensils, pots, and pans) The view of the river and mountains was spectacular. The upstairs cabanna was a real outside treat. Thanks for a memorable vacation.

Quality Family Time Staying Off The Grid
Communication was exceptional with property manager and owner stopped by as well to make sure we had everything we needed. We are a family of 6, 3 teens and a 10 year old. Life with screens rob so much of our time and staying here was a blessing as we enjoyed life together how I remembered it during my childhood 30+ years ago. We truly reconnected as a family, full attention and quality time. Our kids played Montanopoly that lasted 3 straight evenings while my husband and I enjoyed the propane fire on the upper deck stargazing. The guys FULLY enjoyed every moment they could fly fishing on the river just steps behind the cabin. They caught over 20 (and released) rainbow trout while the girls swam and mama enjoyed soaking her feet riverside. We visited during temps over 90, the water was so refreshing, clean, and clear. There were wildfires in the area but we felt perfectly safe thanks to communication with management keeping us in the loop if need for evacuation ever came. We ventured out to GNP 3 out of the 5 days we stayed, took 1 hour to West Glacier, 1.5 hours to Logan's Pass, and 2 hours to St. Mary's. The curvy gravel roads slow travel time down but honestly, we could've stayed at this perfect cabin the whole time and been beyond happy. Clean, comfortable, and with everything you need!
