About this house rental
"Now this is the life!" "A little piece of paradise!" "Livin the Dream!" "It doesn't get any better than this!" Just a few thoughts that may cross your mind when you come for a stay at The Cottage at Misti Cove.
While the name may be simple, don't let that fool you, for so are the best things in life! Getting a taste of the simple life doesn't mean you have to sacrifice amenities. Here, you'll enjoy resort-like amenities without resort crowds. Amenities like free WIFI, large outdoor pool, beach area, tennis court, and pier. Extras that even most resorts don't provide like your very own private extra large waterfront hot tub, private waterfront gas fireplace chat set, Relaxation Station ( a waters-edge private beach-like lounging area with adirondack chairs, table for 2, and wood fire pit ), your very own tiki bar, 2 indoor fireplaces, 4 tv/dvd players, 4 owner provided kayaks, 4 owner provided beach chairs, beach towels, 4 owner provided bikes, .......
With this storybook waterfront cottage you'll get EXTREMELY CLOSE-UP views of the Piankatank River at its widest point as it feeds into an arm of the Atlantic Ocean, the Chesapeake Bay, which is North America's largest estuary. Whether you're inside, or out, the expansive water views are unsurpassed! In fact, I know of no other vacation rental in the area where the home itself is so close to the water. Our cottage is the only home in the small 22 home Misti Cove community that is rented short term.
They don't allow homes to be built this close to the water around here anymore. The water is so close you could cast a fishing line into the water from your rear deck. You'll actually have to go out a little farther to catch the fish but the point is, 'you could'. Check out the pictures. The water is just as close as it appears. After all, it's all about the water..... so don't sacrifice on the view. YOU'RE COMING TOO FAR NOT TO HAVE EXCELLENT WATER VIEWS!
Viewing the sunrise over the water while laying in bed is unforgettable! Watching the sunset illuminate the sky while soaking in your private hot tub on your private waterfront deck is sure to leave a lasting memory as well. From here, you'll also be able to soak in abundant wildlife and marine life such as osprey, eagles, seagulls, deer, jumping fish, crabs, sting rays, and many other species known to the area. It'll almost be like vacationing in a wildlife and marine observatory at the same time.
While not gazing at the surrounding natural beauty, you won't be disappointed with the aesthetics of the cottage either. It's been recently remodeled on the outside and the bath has been renovated.
BATH FEATURES:
- LED RAINFALL SHOWER HEAD
- JETS ON OPPOSITE SHOWER WALLS ( FOR YOU AND YOURS)
- SHOWER WAND
- WAVY MARBLE TILE WITH BEACH STYLE GLASS MOTHER OF PEARL RESIN TRIM
- TUMBLED STONE FLOOR
- TOWEL WARMER
- HEATED FLOOR
But that's not all! Cottage is furnished with top quality furnishings and offerings throughout for maximum coziness! Master bedroom has queen size bed w/Novaform gel memory foam mattress, 2nd bedroom has daybed w/pop-up trundle underneath that can convert the daybed to either a king size bed or two separate twin size beds. Both mattresses are memory foam as well. The Living Room, Enclosed Porch ('No Wake Zone'), Master Bedroom, and 2nd bedroom have high definition tv's with dvd players. Cable programming brought to you by Breezeline.
Kitchen is fully furnished with refrigerator, microwave, oven/stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, crock pot, garbage disposal, pots, pans, dishes, glasses, cups, & all the utensils you'll need to prepare a feast.
Kitchen, Living Room, Master BR, and 2nd BR have bamboo floors for that far away exotic feel!
There's more than meets the eye as well. However, rather than take pictures of inside the closets and cupboards, let me just tell you you'll find things like fluffy resort quality towels, a towel warmer, quality quilts/bedspreads, and an assortment of tiki bar accessories to name just a few.
Outside on the deck facing the waterfront there is a tiki bar, propane grill, extra large hot tub and fireplace chat set to lounge around and take off the chill on those cooler nights. If you've still got some energy left to relax, then maybe you could meander on down to the hammock a little closer to the water and rest for a spell. The hammock is canopied by two trees so once you get here you'll have it "made in the shade". Still got a little energy and perhaps feeling a little adventurous? You are now ready for the Relaxation Station... the mini beach-like area with adirondack chairs, a wood burning fire pit, and table for 2 just a sea shells throw from the water. FOR VARIETY, TRY IN REVERSE! Remember, while you're here you've got nothing but time, so why not relax and make it go as slow as possible.
Come stay for awhile and let time slow down. You'll soon find yourself saying, "Now this is the life!"
Other tidbits:

We had a great time staying here. We used the pool, hot tub and kayaks. The view is beautiful and the neighbors are very friendly. There is not much to do close by but there is so much to do at the house we didnt get bored.

Charming cottage in a quiet neighborhood. Waterfront and views across the Bay are amazing. My third trip there in past few years.

Long weekend to reconnect with my husband. This was perfect. We actually preferred to hang out at the cottage as opposed to going out.
This cottage has some great personal touches. Heated bathroom floor and towel rack. Heated blanket. Beautiful electric fireplace in the bedroom. Fantastic private hot tub, sheltered from the elements, wood supplied for the fire pit, electric wine opener. A shed full of things to do - bikes, kayaks, fishing rods, outdoor games. Inside there is a variety of games, puzzles & books. The scenery was stunning!
A very responsive & accommodating host.

Impressed by this quiet and safe community. This property is a slice of heaven. So much to see and do! Need to stay longer next time just to experience every aspect of this rental. The views all day long were spectacular. The owner really has thought of everything for the renters to just show up and enjoy being on the Rivah!

We couldn't be happier ! Our 31st anniversary will be unforgettable! The view, the little details all over the house, the magic of this place! Everything perfect! Thank you!

The pictures are exactly what you get. The great view, water close enough to touch with steps right down to it. Unfortunately it was windy, rainy and cold while we were there, but the hot tub warmed us up and the view was still spectacular. It would be the perfect spot in warmer weather with all of the outside amenities. We would stay again.

Beautiful cozy cottage with amazing views. Everything was just as described. The heated bathroom, fireplaces and hot tub made the stay even more enjoyable.
Only downside was aunts were on the kitchen counter that is not the owners fault. The other disappointment was the last night we were there we were in the hot tub around 8pm and we kept hearing something and seeing strange lights. It scared us and we got inside to find out some guy backed up to the front door and was unloading firewood and putting it on the side of the house and was fixing the wood pile. He was there for a good 1/2 hour or so. Very intrusive especially with all the windows. We were not sure if it was the neighbor or the owner.
We would have given this 5 stars if it wasn’t for the firewood guy.

We used to stay here every year, but hadn't been back for several. The new bathroom is amazing! We also appreciated other little upgrades. We had a lovely time and hope to be back. Robert is always improving the place!

We had a peaceful and relaxing stay. Even though it was January, the weather was warm and pleasant. Greatly enjoyed the hot tub, fireplaces, wildlife, and quiet neighborhood!

This cottage was perfect for a long weekend getaway for my family. This was our 2nd trip to the cottage so we knew we would enjoy it. The location on the river is fantastic! There was room for all 4 of us. Saturday was a warm November day, so we were able to dip our feet in the river and then warm up in the hot tub. We also to a trip over to Yorktown, which is an easy drive.

Weather was terrible! Arrived Saturday just before sunset. took quick look around outside and all seemed well except beach area UNDER WATER and stayed that way for the entire week. Cottage was advertised a 2 bathroom but only 1. There was an outsider shower but that is not a bathroom. Had gale winds and rain for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and part of Thursday. Friday was by far the nicest day but beach still ubnderwater! Lost internet and TV for a while on Thursday.

Spent a long weekend here with my wife and 14 yr old son to celebrate her 50th birthday. Had fabulous weather and an absolutely great time! The views are just outstanding and lived up to all the hype. We used the hot tub (multiple times), kayaks, tennis rackets, basketball, bicycles, and firepit near the water. Had super clear nights for star gazing and perfect temps to keep the bugs away. Wonderful sunrises and sunsets. Was very windy (and cold) the day we checked in so there wasn't much activity on the water but the following days were warmer and saw a few boats coming and going in the bay. House was very clean, had all the utensils we needed, was stocked well with consumables (tissues, TP, etc.). I may offer to buy this place when I retire....IF I ever get to retire. :-) Great stay and hope to stay here again. Thanks Robert.

This cottage could not be closer to the water! It reminded us of the beautiful cottage communities in the lakes of Canada that we vacationed at in summers when we were little. The view of the water when you walk into the cottage is so mesmerizing. Truly gorgeous!
The cottage was very clean and had everything you could need for a relaxing, care-free stay. The decor was so nice, everything felt like "vacation". The internet worked well inside the cottage, which was all we needed. The hot tub was clean, instructions were easy and the view from the hot tub was fabulous.
The back deck is beautiful. How long did it take to paint all those wood planks for the walking path to the fire-pit? Wow, so nice! We had a lovely fire by the water watching the sunset every night. My son fell asleep for hours at a time in the hammock listening to waves and woke up to bunnies grazing on the grass beside him.
We did not get to use the pool but it looked clean and quiet.
What a wonderful few days we spent at this hidden gem. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us!

The house was nice and the views were great. The neighbors were helpful. It felt good to get away from video games and computers and just be more active. There was plenty to do around the community and the house. My boys didn’t touch their devices until we left. The overall area was peaceful and the deck leading to the water was just great. We didn’t get to use all the equipment provided (kayak and hot tub)

The perfect couples retreat
As soon as you walk in this charming cottage, you are instantly blown away by the view of the water through the sliding doors at the back of the property. The photos don’t do it justice. The place was very clean, well stocked and has been remolded with relaxation in mind. The internet was surprisingly fast and perfect for streaming. For Thursday and most of Friday, we had the neighborhood to ourselves, with the most of the other home owners arriving Friday night / Saturday morning. If you’re looking for a quiet place to relax, unplug and enjoy the sailboats floating by, this is the place.

After a long week we escaped out of the city to this gorgeous property. We arrived at night, so the pathway lights were a great bonus.
The house is as quirky and fun in person as it was online. Little touches made you aware that you were not in Kansas (or the city) anymore. The sunrises you wake to are postcard worthy every day. The hot tub is huge, the bathroom IG worthy and hammock perfect for two.
If you want to disconnect from the world, relax, and hear your inner voice… this is the place.

The amenities and setting are wonderful -- views, river, pool, hot tub, kayaks, small beach, and more! It's a cute little cottage in a quiet setting, but close to Matthews for grocery and restaurants. The kitchen wasn't quite as clean as other rental properties (dirty floor, coffee splashes on the Keurig, a couple of sticky cabinets, remnants of a pink drink on the blender base, dirty silverware tray, etc.), but other than that, it was fabulous. We were sad to see the week come to an end.

We made use of all the amenities listed and had a wonderful time. The owner responded quickly and politely to all of our questions. The neighborhood is quiet and a nice break from daily life. We recommend “The Hole in the Wall” restaurant a short drive away for casual dining with good food, staff and view.

Perfect weekend getaway! We experienced a lot of rain during our weekend but we’re still able to enjoy all of the joys this house has to offer. Fire pit with water views were spectacular, the bed was extremely comfy and the views right from the bed were out of this world. Great experience and will definitely be back!

Nice house for a get-a-way. A lot of amenities. Hot tub is great. Owner is communicative and accommodating. We had fun during a winter storm, so in nice weather it should be a blast (use of kayaks, fishing, etc).

My wife stayed at the cottage in January 2021 for 3 nights. Out of the 10+ Vrbo places we have stayed this place had the most character as you can see from the pictures. The amenities and views are perfect. Seeing that it was quite cold outside the electric fireplaces, heated bathroom floor, and hot tub kept us warm. The owners were responsive to our questions and clearly care a lot about their property.
